Story
Hey, my name is Piper! I came to the shelter as a stray, so now I need a new home! I am a high-energy girl that could use a family that is willing to give me exercise and take me on adventures! I am so smart and eager to please too, so I would love to work on some training with you as well! I can get a little mouthy and jumpy when I am overexcited, but I am treat-motivated, so it's nothing that we can't work on together! Because of this, I would probably do best in a home with older kids that can handle a high-energy dog. I am a bit too much for other dogs as well and do have a tendency to bark at dogs I meet. That being said, I would prefer a home without another dog in it. Please don't let my barkiness at the kennel scare you off - I am so sweet once you take me out of my kennel! Ask to meet me so I can show you! Can't wait to meet you! Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: Black Weight: 53 Age: 1yrs 2mths 0wks

Story
Intake Reason: Returned due to allergiesWeight: 63.4# Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Best with calm dogs. ·Kids: Did well with teenagers but will need to be supervised with young children. Personality:Greetings, my name is River and I am a beautiful southern belle from Alabama. I was quickly adopted by a wonderful person but came back to WCHS when they discovered that I made them sneeze. I adore people and certainly do not want to be the cause of them feeling miserable so I agreed it made sense to look for a new home. I am a gentle gal who could use a little confidence building. Since learning new skills can boost a girl's self-assuredness, I think it would be lovely to take some classes with you so I am introduced to new things. We could take obedience classes and participate in rally or get involved in canine sports, practice nose-work or just play dog parkour when we are out and about. I already know the cues for ‘sit', ‘down' and ‘paw/shake' and think I could learn many more human words with your patient and positive training techniques. I have had fun joining a playgroup with calm dogs at the shelter; I am not a fan of crazy and rambunctious pups. I sort of fancy myself as the group police-pooch when the other dogs are playing; I figure someone has to referee. The person who I stayed with for a while found that I liked car rides and was comfortable in a crate, especially when it has comfy cozy blankets and comes with long-lasting frozen Kong treat to keep me busy. I had a brief encounter with a feline; I was off-leash, saw the kitty and whined a bit and the cat did not move. That does not make me an expert on felines, but perhaps I have potential to live in harmony with them. I understand the concept of house-training but when I first come to my new home it would be wise to give me plenty of potty breaks until we learn each other's signals and routines. I am a friendly and affectionate gal who is quiet in the house; I am a big fan of snuggle sessions after a fun day of play. At over 60 pounds, I may be a skosh big for your lap but I would be honored to have a place at your side. I am an active lass who will need physical and mental exercise each day to keep me happy and healthy; it is important for me to keep my brain busy and engaged. I also love a rousing game of fetch. I spent time with some teenagers and did well; I have been known to jump up on people so I should be supervised if tiny tykes are around. I am a spectacular pooch with loads of love to give and promise to be a loyal companion forever. I hope you stop by to meet me because I know you will be enamored by my dazzling personality. #2

Story
Intake Reason: Surrendered due to owner's healthWeight: 73# Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Does well in WCHS playgroups ·Kids: Exposed to newborn thru teenager--did wellPersonality: Playful, active, likes to play fetchHello, my name is Ozone, I am 81 pounds of spectacular and I find myself in a circumstance where I need a new home. I lived with a person my whole life but unfortunately their health took a turn for the worse and they could no longer take care of me so I came to WCHS. Since I am an optimistic lad, I am making the best of my situation and spending my time romping in playgroups, taking wonderful walks with volunteers and keeping my brain busy with enrichment. I am a strong boy who is a bit strong-willed; some have even called me stubborn. In my defense sometimes I lock onto a fabulous smell and feel I must insist upon pulling towards it. I suppose one of the things I should work on is being a little more polite when on a leash; I tend to pull towards things of interest. I have a wanderlust spirit and must confess that if I am off-leash I have been known to run off in search of adventure. I do thoroughly enjoy going on walks because I have a great nose and there are so many wonderful odors to explore. I like to run and have sort of a digital method of walking; zero or one. I stop to soak in a smell, then run off to the next scent where I stop again and then repeat the process. In my previous home I lived with children from newborn to teenagers; I have lots of energy so running with kids was a good way to burn some energy. I used to play with some neighborhood dogs which also kept me active and was able to get exercise running around in my fenced yard playing fetch. In my previous home I was comfortable in a crate. It was my own private little den with comfy cozy blankets and fun toys where I could relax when I was alone in the house or snooze at bedtime. I am a smart boy and already know the cues for ‘sit', ‘down' and ‘shake/paw'; with your patient and positive training I am sure I could learn many more human words. I understand the concept of house-training and would ask to go outside by whining and pacing. When I get to my new home it would be wise to give me plenty of opportunities for potty breaks until we learn each other's signals and routines. I am a firm believer in daily exercise, both physical and mental, and would love to play brain teaser games or using a foraging mat at mealtime. I am friendly and affectionate; I would love to have long snuggle sessions in the evenings after a day filled with fun. I am a cheerful pup who is sure to bring sunshine and laughter to your home; I know we can have a magnificent life together. I hope you come by to make my acquaintance because I think it will be love at first sight.#2
