Story
Meet Aurora! This girl is full of spunk and ready to go to a home that can keep up with her! She does great with other animals, whether it be cats or dogs she is always down for as many friends as she can keep. She is an extremely sweet and cuddly/gentle girl despite her energy levels. She does great with children due to her kind nature but they have to be sturdy enough to handle her hugs. She will be the happiest in a home that has plenty of time to give her the energy outlets she needs! If you are interested in Aurora, please call us here at (401)846-8276 or you can come into our Animal Care and Adoption Center here in Middletown, RI to meet with her at any time. Story
Lily MayMeet Lily, a sweet and affectionate two-year-old Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix with a gorgeous, snow-white coat. Lily loves all people and will eagerly approach anyone for pets and attention. She has the typical “Pyrenees Paw” and will tap you when she wants attention or if you stop petting her.Lily loves both being outside in the yard, making sure it’s safe from intruders, as well as hanging inside with the family. She enjoys car rides with the wind blowing on her face, walking around town and long hikes in the woods. And her favorite activity is fetch! She will chase, catch the ball and return it at your feet. Outdoors, Lily likes sniffing the ground and keeping an eye out for squirrels, birds, and other wildlife. Being prey-driven, she may need redirection when encountering squirrels, rabbits, and birds. She also enjoys digging huge holes, which she considers her contribution to the landscaping efforts.Lily knows basic commands like sit, wait, let’s go, and come, and she has great recall. She’s a smart learner who enjoys training sessions.Lily enjoys spending time outside. Often, she’ll relax on the deck, observing her surroundings, content and peaceful. True to her breed, she will alert-bark to deter any perceived threats, showcasing her protective nature.Lily requires a secure, 6ft fence to ensure she stays safe and doesn’t wander off. Experience with Great Pyrenees is a must due to her specific needs and characteristics. Great Pyrenees are known for being affectionate, patient, confident, fearless, and gentle. They can be strong-willed and sometimes stubborn, but they are also incredibly loyal and loving. While not ideal for first-time dog owners, those familiar with their quirks will find them to be wonderful companions. If you're looking for a loving, loyal, and slightly goofy companion, and you have experience with her breed, Lily could be the perfect addition to your family!Name: Lily MayBreed: Great PyreneesSex: FemaleAge: 2 years  (estimated)Weight: 55 lbs.Spayed/Neutered: YesHousetrained: YesCrate Trained  Yes, goes in easily, settles quickly (for at least 4-6 hours)Vaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children:  Over 12 years old - YesGood with Dogs:  YesGood with Cats:   YesAdoption Fee: $500.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently: New England IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
