PLEASE READ: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, please apply online at www.catdogfriendrescue.com. Please do NOT call or send inquiries via Adopt A Pet or PetFinder as we are a small rescue and cannot handle a large influx of inquiries and phone calls. You can email us at acatsfriendinc@gmail.com if you have questions, but if you would like to be considered for adoption, you must fill out an application. Please note if you are applying for a kitten under six months of age, you must have another friendly kitty in the home or adopt another kitten. Additionally, unless otherwise indicted that this animal is a purebred, all of our animals are rescues and the "breed" selection is a best guess based on their apperance as we have no way of knowing their specific breeds.  Out of state adoptions (outside Virginia/DC/Maryland) do require three years of excellent past or current veterinary references. We look forward to hearing from you!  Adoption Fee includes spay/neuter and microchip insertion. ##2136549##

Story
When HART first rescued Newton, this gorgeous boy was very shy. Since being in a loving foster home, he has shown significant improvement! He is less shy when meeting new people, and after proper introduction, he seeks out chin scratches and belly rubs. Newton has enjoyed running in the backyard, chasing a ball, and he will certainly need a secure, fenced yard to safely explore and get his zoomies. Newton is house trained, sleeps well at night in his kennel, does not have separation anxiety, occasionally barks but settles down, takes treats gently, and knows basic commands to include 'sit', 'stay', 'wait' and knows to wait for 'yes' and 'OK' before proceeding. He walks well on a leash particularly in the neighborhood and on trails but needs additional training to prevent occasional pulling. He sheds his gorgeous coat once a year and fortunately loves to be brushed with a wire brush to keep it under control. He gets along well with other dogs after a proper introduction and would benefit from having another confident dog in the home. Newton is not at all aggressive and responds to scary or new situations by backing away so he can get comfortable on his own terms. As he continues to overcome his shyness, he has shown that he is eager to explore, have new experiences, and meet new people. Newton is looking for a family that will continue with his training and socialization to ensure he will reach his potential. Inquire about meeting Newton because it will be love at first sight! Story
Hi, my name is Meadow. I'm a big girl with an even bigger heart and I can't wait for a forever home! Humans call me a Great Pyrenees but on the inside I'm a mix of love bug, devotion and playfulness. I'm house-trained and have had no accidents in my foster home so far. I have decent leash manners and am not a big puller, which is good because I have energy to burn and need lots of exercise. I take treats gently and show no signs of resource guarding. I'm a quiet giant - my foster family has yet to hear me bark. I'm initially shy with new people but warm up quickly. Once I'm friends with someone, I love to lean against them to get neck and rump scratches. If you sit on the floor with me, I may try to make myself a lap dog!For all my size I'm a bit of a wus and startle easily. I'm not destructive but I still have some puppy in me and can get into mischief. Smaller critters get my attention and I'm not sure if I'd be good in a home with cats. I hardly shed at all but my fluffy, super-soft coat will need daily brushing and regular baths and grooming. I'm eager to please and would do well in a calm home where someone is around most of the time to cuddle, take me on walks and work patiently with me on perfecting my manners. I'd love to be your best friend and devoted companion! Thank you for your interest in Meadow B! ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13698Hi!My name is Esme and I was part of the transport that came up to OPH on 7/26/24. I'm currently being fostered in North Chesterfield, VA and I’m guessed to be a Great Pyrenees mixed breed dog. I am a 7 month old girl and weigh about 45lbs. I'm a very smart girl, already learning how to walk on a leash! Click here to see me in action! Here's a few things my foster has to say about me:-I love going for walks and do great on a leash! Check out the video my foster mom took to show off my skills. I don't like to travel too far away from my person, so I'll stick close by and check in with you from time to time.-Because I'm still a puppy, I do have lots of energy to burn and sometimes try to chew on things I'm not supposed to. I listen well though, and can be easily entertained with a good chew toy so make sure to have plenty of those around for me!-My foster mom has been working on training with me, so I'll be looking for someone who is ready to continue helping me be the best girl I can be. I already know that I sleep in my crate at night, and I've been getting better with going in there during the day for my naps.-I love food (and treats!) so those will be a great tool to use with my training.I can't wait to get to my forever home! Is that with you? Apply to adopt me today! This cuteness won’t be available for long!

Story
Paul is sweet, affectionate, and playful. He loves cuddles, being part of a family, playing fetch, his tail is always wagging! He adores our kids (ages 7 and 10). Paul is a homebody and where ever we are he's happy to be. He enjoys chillin in the backyard or laying under the dinning room table. He does struggle when we leave the room and he can't follow. That is something we are working on and his new family would need to continue to work on as well. He is doing great with potty training and whinges at the back door or crate (when he's been asleep) to let you know he needs to go outside. He is getting more comfortable going for walks on the lead. He loves meeting new people but is wary of cars. Mandatory in-person transfer date: August 23rd at the Petsmart in Tysons Corner between 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. All adopters must attend in order to finalize the adoption. ##2138329##

Story
Yeti #9827 is a handsome 4-year-old male, Great Pyrenees mix. He is house and crate trained. He is a loyal, happy bouncy 80 -pound companion to 4 humans. He knows commands and obeys them as any self-minded, stubborn GP does! He is smarter than your average pup and is curious and resourceful. He is routine driven. Yeti enjoys watching over his surroundings and patrols his fenced in backyard; note that he is in an indoor dog. He enjoys car rides and going on walks. While Yeti lives with other dogs, his ideal home is one where he is the only male, a single dog, or with a nonconfrontation female. He is seeking a home with GP or large breed experience. Meet and greets are by appointment only with approved applicants. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the online application: https://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/adoption-request-form/ If you have been approved within the past 6 months and are interested in Yeti, please reply to your approval email.
