ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/14138Name: HerculesGender: MaleBreed: Great Pyrenees MixAge: 16 weeksWeight: 40 lbs (Estimated adult weight: 100 +/- lbs)Current Location: Lanexa, VAAbout HerculesMeet Hercules, a handsome 16 week-old Great Pyrenees mix with a sleek black coat accented by charming white polka dotted socks. Hercules is a gentle giant in the making with a heart full of love! His calm and gentle temperament makes him a dream companion. He isn’t pushy or mouthy, and while he can be a little shy when encountering new experiences, with some loving guidance, he quickly gains confidence. This sweet boy absolutely adores other dogs and plays wonderfully with them. He’s currently being crate trained and is settling in well, especially with a cozy covered crate. When it comes to potty training, he’s a pro as long as he’s on a schedule. Like any growing pup, Hercules needs plenty of rest to recharge for his playful moments. One of Hercules’ most endearing qualities is how much he loves to snuggle. He’ll melt into you the moment you pet him and will happily climb into your lap if you sit on the floor. He’s working on basic commands like "sit" and "down," and his treat and toy motivation makes him eager to learn and please. What Makes Hercules Special- Gentle Personality: Hercules enjoys one-on-one time with people and is incredibly affectionate, making him an ideal companion for those who value quiet bonding moments.- Laid-Back Nature: While he enjoys playing with his siblings, Hercules tends to have a calmer, more relaxed demeanor compared to the rest of his litter.- Growing Confidence: He thrives with gentle guidance and reassurance, making him a great fit for a family willing to nurture his potential.- Future Adventurer: As a Great Pyrenees mix, Hercules is likely to enjoy outdoor activities and would love a home with access to a yard or space to explore.Ideal HomeHercules would do well in a home that offers:- A patient and loving environment where he can build trust and confidence.- Plenty of space to accommodate his future size and energy needs.- A family ready to provide exercise, training, and lots of cuddles.Included Veterinary Care- Up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations- Microchipped- Heartworm preventative- Flea and tick preventative- Worm/parasite treatments - Note: Hercules is not neutered yet due to his young age. His future family will need to arrange for this at the appropriate time.Hercules is more than just a pup—he’s a loyal, loving companion in the making. If you’re ready to welcome a gentle giant into your home, apply today to meet this special boy! Hercules’ future family will be incredibly lucky to have such a loving, gentle pup. ---Please note that because this puppy is so young, it has only received 2 of the required 3 puppy distemper vaccines. This is very IMPORTANT because it means that the immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age. Until then, the puppy MUST stay out of public places where it could be exposed to the germs of other dogs. These no puppy zones include all pet stores, dog parks, and for apartment dwellers, areas used by other dogs. These requirements are strictly for the puppy’s medical safety and longevity.

Story
When HART first rescued Newton, this gorgeous boy was very shy. Since being in a loving foster home, he has shown significant improvement! He is less shy when meeting new people, and after proper introduction, he seeks out chin scratches and belly rubs. Newton has enjoyed running in the backyard, chasing a ball, and he will certainly need a secure, fenced yard to safely explore and get his zoomies. Newton is house trained, sleeps well at night in his kennel, does not have separation anxiety, occasionally barks but settles down, takes treats gently, and knows basic commands to include 'sit', 'stay', 'wait' and knows to wait for 'yes' and 'OK' before proceeding. He walks well on a leash particularly in the neighborhood and on trails but needs additional training to prevent occasional pulling. He sheds his gorgeous coat once a year and fortunately loves to be brushed with a wire brush to keep it under control. He gets along well with other dogs after a proper introduction and would benefit from having another confident dog in the home. Newton is not at all aggressive and responds to scary or new situations by backing away so he can get comfortable on his own terms. As he continues to overcome his shyness, he has shown that he is eager to explore, have new experiences, and meet new people. Newton is looking for a family that will continue with his training and socialization to ensure he will reach his potential. Inquire about meeting Newton because it will be love at first sight! ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: Extra Large, he's 4 months old and a big boy KNOWN WITH DOGS: This guy just made it to our foster care program and has a dog brother friend. In the short time he was really enjoyed having a k9 pal to romp around with! KNOWN WITH CATS: We do not currently know how they are with cats. If that is needed, let us know and we'll work on getting that information! KNOWN WITH KIDS: We are not sure how they do with kids. KNOWN COMMANDS: None currently known. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: They seem to do okay going into a crate and settling down after some time. KNOWN LIKES: None currently known. KNOWN DISLIKES: We are still learning, but as a young pup its obvious he doesn't enjoy being left alone (lets out some sad puppy cries) and is a bit unsure of stairs). Overall he is a puppy and we feel confident that as he grows and develops he will overcome these fears. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: FROM HIS FOSTER: Phoenix is truly one of the sweetest pups we’ve had the pleasure of fostering. He’s calm for his age, enjoys playing with other dogs, and loves snuggling up with his furry friends after playtime. Phoenix has been working on potty training, and although he’s still having the occasional accident, it’s usually just once a day – a sign that he’s making great progress! He sleeps peacefully in his crate at night, though he might put up a little resistance when it’s time to go in. Once settled, he’s content and sleeps well through the night. What’s truly special about Phoenix is how quickly he’s picking up routines. He’s already learned to sit on command and even sits automatically when he hears the treat container. No nipping, minimal jumping, and he’s quick to respond to “no jumping,” making him a joy to be around. He’s calm, gentle, and eager to please – the perfect combination for a family looking for a loyal companion. Bliss is very new to us. The shelter told us that this beautiful dog is very sweet and gentle. We do not know what she is mixed with, but we suspect she is part Great Pyrenees and perhaps some lab, retriever and/ or collie. If you are interested in Bliss, please let us know. To learn more about Fluffy, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org. Fluffy will be attending one of our adoption events coming up this weekend! To learn more about our upcoming events and to see which event she will be attending, please visit our event page at https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/. (*Please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending each event.*) True to her name, Fluffy is a lovable, soft, and cuddly ball of fluff! This sweet 4-year-old Great Pyrenees mix may be a bit shy and reserved when meeting new people or adjusting to unfamiliar surroundings, but once she feels at ease, she transforms into a playful and happy pup who just wants to have fun. With her striking black and tan coat and expressive eyebrows, Fluffy is a real head-turner. She's incredibly affectionate, and there's nothing she loves more than snuggles and belly rubs. Outdoor adventures are a favorite of hers, and she enjoys long walks, though some leash training would help her become even more confident on her outings. Because of her size, Fluffy would do best in a home without small children. She's looking for a family who can give her the space, love, and patience to truly blossom into the playful, loving companion she's meant to be. If you're looking for a big snuggly dog who will be your loyal best friend, Fluffy might just be the one!
