Hi, my name is Charley Feeny and while I'm the happiest buddy now, before my Underdog days I had a pretty rough go of it. I used to have a loving mama, but one day she went away, and I found myself living with a person who did not like me very much. He was not feeding me or even letting me in from the cold. I wandered off and a nice lady found me. I showed her where I lived and she took me back, but the man said I was a stray and even though I barked and barked, he would not let me inside. The nice lady took me to a shelter. They said I was a hospice senior, and I that I was on the urgent rescue list. Fortunately, the staff really liked me, so they reached out to Underdogs, who sent a new mama to pick me up. My new foster home is so nice. There are other dogs to play with, I am allowed to curl up under the covers whenever I want to and there is lots of healthy food and treats to eat. She took me to the dog doc and she told her that I was neither neither a senior nor a hospice dog. I tried to tell everyone that, but apparently dog docs are more trustworthy. As it turns out, I am only about 6 years old and though not being fed regularly and neglected overall was hard on my kidneys, proper food and some medicine have been healing them nicely. I now weigh thirteen pounds and am looking perky and am the most handsome scruffy terrier and miniature poodle mix.  I love the fenced yard at my foster digs and I especially love going for walks in the morning. New foster mama put an open crate in the living room so I can go in there any time I need time to myself. I also like toys to play with. One weekend we had lots of company, including a 12-year-old girl and extra dogs. Mama said she was so proud of how I behaved.  She tells me that we are looking for my new forever family, someone that will take me for walks, feed me well, love me and help me feel secure again. She says that I will do best with adults and older children with dog experience. Francis is a young adult Terrier mix weighing about 14lbs.  Francis was dumped at an overcrowded, high kill shelter in Texas when she was incredibly pregnant.  The stress of the situation forced her into labor within 24 hours of being in the shelter.  We were SO lucky that Fancis and all her puppie survived until we were able to get them to CO to our safe foster home. Francis has been an amazing Mom.  So many doggy Momma's never care about their puppies and don't have that loving demeanor but Momma Francis has been amazing since day one.  She LOVES her foster humans and wants to be with them as much as possible, but also cares so much about her babies and loves to check on them and take care of them as much as possible.  It shows just how sweet and loving she is with everything and everyone.  Francis loves to snuggle and play with toys.  She loves sunbathing and hanging out with the other adult puppies in the home.  She is just a good, super super sweet girl. Roscoe is a 2-3 year old Terrier mix weighing about 13lbs.  Roscoe was originally rescues from a shelter in Texas back in October.  He was a shelter favorite and because they were so overcrowded they reached out to us in hopes we could take him in before he was euthanized for space.  Roscoe made his way to CO where he was in a wonderful foster home with another dog and a kiddo - he did great with everybody!  He is great on a leash, and listens very well.  He is sweet and snuggly and everything you could ever want in a dog!   Roscoe was adopted from Brighter days at the end of October and we were so excite for him! Unfortunately a couple weeks ago Roscoe was surrendered back to our rescue.  While we feel like we failed him, we try to remember we did the best we could, but cannot control every other human.  Poor little Roscoe is now back looking for his true forever family, a family who wont give up on him.  Roscoe was surrendered back to us because he loves to dig under fences.  He has a high prey drive for bunnies and squirrels, so when he sees one there isn/t much he wont do to get to it.  While Roscoe may never be able to be in a yard (no matter how well it's fenced) without supervision there are tons of easy solutions to this, and Roscoe is the most amazing dog otherwise.  He would do great in an apartment or with someone who has a yard but knows he will need to be walked on a leash.  He would also do just find being tethered in the backyard or with a super secure fence and someone that wont let him out of their sight in the yard.  He gets along great with other dogs and all people.  He is sweet and loving.  His new fosters live in a townhome and say he is just the greatest dog!   If you are interested in adopting Roscoe, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2248793##

Whenever a sweet and engaging rescue dog gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that many of the dogs that are relinquished to a high-kill shelter or found as strays are very loving with excellent temperaments.. and ultimately make awesome family companions. Ireland is one of these wonderful dogs that was turned into a terrifying Texas shelter. Personnel described her in the following way: We couldn't help oohing and aahing over sweet Ireland the moment she arrived at animal control. She just has that very gentle spirit with a positive attitude and a real love of life!, This gorgeous girl is always up for fun whether it's exploring the great outdoors or showing off all her training skills. Ireland 's soft nature isn't meant for harsh shelter life and she was understandably frightened. When Farfel's Rescue spoke up to save Ireland's precious life, she was removed from the shelter environment and now has got plenty of wag in her step and a ton of love to share. This irresistible girl is engaging, affectionate, and always ready to make new friends—whether human or canine. Ireland’s resilience and optimism make her a true survivor and a constant reminder that a little adversity can’t keep an awesome dog down! Ireland is a darling 10 month old, 30lb Jack Russell Terrier / Smooth Fox Terrier mix with a heart overflowing with love and a zest for life. The shelter had to amputate the tip of Ireland's tail due to an injury, but not for her to care..her gentle and loving personality are always present and she can wag her back end with the best of them! The shelter veterinarian identified Ireland as a 10ish month old, 30 lb Jack Russell Terrier with a bit of smooth-coated Fox Terrier in the mix for extra cuteness. We can't speak to the accuracy of this breed mix (although we can see both breeds in this beautiful girl)...what we can speak to is her sweetness and her value as a wonderful family companion. Ireland (once comfortable in her environment) is very puppyish in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. She has a love of life and positive attitude that touches the heart. After all, his very deserving girl has never had a loving and nurturing family to call her own. She has been a victim of circumstance in her life. Farfel's Rescue is committed to changing the trajectory for this awesome dog that has so much love to offer a committed family. Rescue dogs can initially be a bit shy or nervous in their new homes. This is expected in light of the very long transports and stresses of rehoming. When an adopting family is sensitive to the challenges of change and acclimation for these dog's, the transition is far easier. A home with a loving and nurturing family that understands that blossoming takes time is perfect for our wonderful Ireland. Socialization, pure love and belly rubs are a gift to any dog that is undergoing a life change. If Ireland is initially given the time and space, she will absolutely shine. Farfel's Rescue has found over time and thousands of rescue dogs that families that attend virtual or in-person training classes with an approved positive reinforcement / force free trainer generally keep their dogs for life. Dogs that don't receive the benefit of proper training and socialization have a much higher risk of being rehomed or far worse, being abandoned. There is a bonding that occurs between a dog and their family through the training process that can't be duplicated. It also teaches behaviors that enable a pup to go out into the world with excellent manners that create a respectful relationship between dogs and their humans. It is for all these reasons that Farfel's isn't willing to adopt to a family that doesn't choose to participate in this training relationship. At almost 1 year old, she is a blank slate and has left her babyish behaviors behind. She is young enough to be open to new behavioral concepts with many, many healthy and active years ahead, Ireland weighs a very desirable 34 lbs. This is a perfect medium size to be able to accompany her family on fun adventures out in the world everywhere that smaller and well-behaved dogs are welcome. We envision active, dog-crazy retirees for our sweet Ireland. She would respond so well to the love and attention that this group offers. Ireland would also do well with a younger family that works from a home-based office to love her up periodically throughout the day. We feel that our sweet girl is too sensitive to spend long hours alone while her family works full-time outside of the home. Ireland has a stunning pure white and golden coat that is currently a bit shelter-sad. She will require a lifelong commitment to consistent sudsy baths and brushing with excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great lifelong protocols for coat care as well as general longevity) to keep her shining coat super-healthy and cottony-soft. Ireland will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. She has also been spayed to fulfill our promise to work toward a euthanasia-free future in the canine population. . Ireland is arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 2/7/2025.
