Story
We adopted peanut as a puppy, and are the only family he’s known. It was a difficult time in our life, and he helped us through it. However, our decision to adopt him came at a time before we found out that we were having another child. Between our kids, and my 50+ hr. Per week work schedule, we don’t have the time or money to properly care for him, and give him the attention he deserves. He’s great with our 3 year old, loves our pit/sharpei mix, and gets along well with my brothers dautschands. He really is a great little dog, and loves to go on walks. We just aren’t the right family for him. We’re looking for somebody that has a dog, and needs a little companion. Come meet him, I’m sure he’ll warm right up to you.

Story
Ghost is an amazing dog — he is stoic and reserved, but simultaneously sweet and playful. He would do well with a first time dog owner. He gets along very well with other dogs, and tends to not react at all to cats; he also has no prey drive that I’ve ever seen (no reaction to squirrels, rabbits, etc.). No resource guarding, either. He has done very well with my six year old, but may find kids under 4 a little overwhelming. He LOVES fetch and tug of war games, and especially wants humans to join in on the playing. He can sit, lie down, and is even off-leash trained (as well as on leash; walks well, no harness needed). He is kennel-trained and housebroken. He can “load up” into a car, but he does get car sick. Other exact command words he knows are: “potty”, “potty outside”, “kennel up”, “sit”, “lie down”, “lie down all the way”, “leave it”. He comes with a kennel, bowl, and other accessories.

Story
Buddy is a one and a half year-old male Jack Russell full of energy, as the breed is known for. He requires a backyard where he can play and run freely. Buddy is neutered and has been crate trained to sleep in his crate at night. He has a microchip, which will need to be transferred online. To help you get started, he comes with toys, food, a bed, a feeding tray, and his crate. He has received professional training but still needs some improvement. Buddy simply needs a loving home and a yard to thrive in.

Story
Whenever a sweet and engaging rescue dog gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that many of the dogs that are relinquished to a high-kill shelter or found as strays are very loving with excellent temperaments.. and ultimately make awesome family companions. Ireland is one of these wonderful dogs that was turned into a terrifying Texas shelter after being found as a stray. Personnel described her in the following way: "We couldn't help oohing and aahing over sweet Ireland the moment she arrived at animal control. She just has that very friendly spirit with a positive attitude and a real love of life! This gorgeous girl is always up for fun whether it's exploring the great outdoors or showing off all her training skills." When Farfel's Rescue spoke up to save Ireland's precious life, she was removed from the shelter environment and now has got plenty of wag in her step and a ton of love to share. This irresistible girl is engaging, affectionate, and always ready to make new friends—whether human or canine. Ireland’s resilience and optimism make her a true survivor and a constant reminder that a little adversity can’t keep an awesome dog down! Ireland is a darling 1 year old, 30 lb Jack Russell Terrier / Smooth Fox Terrier mix. We can't speak to the accuracy of this breed mix (although we can see both breeds in this beautiful girl)...what we can speak to is her sweetness and her value as a wonderful family companion. Ireland is an incredibly affectionate and social pup who absolutely loves other dogs! She thrives in off-leash play, does amazing at doggy daycare, and loves her foster brother. Ireland makes new canine friends with ease, but she can be a bit vocal when meeting new dogs or strangers while on a leash. Because of this, she’d do best in a home with a yard where she can play and potty without the stress of frequent leashed walks. Like many dogs, she may also bark when unfamiliar people enter the home, but with patience and positive reinforcement, she settles in just fine. Her adopters will be required to enroll in training (as we require for all our dogs), which will help with her leash reactivity and set her up for success. At her core, Ireland is a loving and devoted companion who just needs the right home to help her shine—don’t let a little barking scare you away from this sweetheart! Farfel's Rescue has found over time and thousands of rescue dogs that families that attend virtual or in-person training classes with an approved positive reinforcement / force free trainer generally keep their dogs for life. Dogs that don't receive the benefit of proper training and socialization have a much higher risk of being rehomed or far worse, being abandoned. There is a bonding that occurs between a dog and their family through the training process that can't be duplicated. It also teaches behaviors that enable a pup to go out into the world with excellent manners that create a respectful relationship between dogs and their humans. It is for all these reasons that Farfel's isn't willing to adopt to a family that doesn't choose to participate in this training relationship. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person positive reinforcement/ force-free trainers in your area. We envision active, dog-crazy retirees for our sweet Ireland. She would respond so well to the love and attention that this group offers. Ireland would also do well with a younger family that works from a home-based office to love her up periodically throughout the day. We feel that our sweet girl is too sensitive to spend long hours alone while her family works full-time outside of the home. Ireland will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. She has also been spayed to fulfill our promise to work toward a euthanasia-free future in the canine population. Before Ireland arrived to Colorado, she was so full of joy and tail wags that she gave herself "happy tail"—a condition where dogs wag so much that their tail tip gets injured. Her tail had to be amputated while she was still in Houston, but don’t worry—she’s fully healed and now pain-free, with the cutest little half-nub that still wags nonstop! Nothing can dim her enthusiasm for life, and she’s ready to bring endless happiness to her forever family. Ireland is available for adoption now. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup. If interested in this gorgeous and cuddly best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Ireland please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
Meet Daisy! This charming little gal is a 2-year-old Jack Russell / Chihuahua mix (our best guess!) who weighs in at just 14 pounds of pure cuteness. Daisy arrived to Farfel's Rescue in early January and is still looking for her forever home. Daisy came from Roswell, NM where she was surrendered to the shelter when her owner moved and couldn't bring her. While she started off shy and unsure, Daisy has blossomed into such a great dog in her foster home!!! From Daisy's foster: * * * * "Daisy is an incredibly sweet, friendly, and loving dog. She's funny too! While she was quite timid at first she has gained confidence over our time together! She’s gotten the hang of walks and could be a great running partner. She can become distracted by noises, cars and is jumpy at sudden movements, but I believe more time in safe environments will help her feel more calm. She is friendly with other dogs, friendly with my cat, and potty trained. She loves to play and zip around the yard. Daisy has come to the office for a full work day and did great! She even joined a 3 hour meeting and completely charmed everyone. Such a sweet, calm pup. Over the weekends we do extra long walks out in the open space. She sleeps in bed curled into a lil shrimp roll sometimes under sometimes over the covers. She loves a cuddle!" * * * * We don't know if Daisy has had any formal training. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young dog whose self-esteem will fly high while she masters her skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Our training requirement is to help every adoption be successful. At Farfel's Rescue, we believe in setting both adopters and dogs up for success. That’s why we offer a one-week trial period with every adoption. This allows you to make sure Daisy is the right fit for your family before making a lifetime commitment. Should it not work out, we offer a refund of the adoption fee within the trial period. Daisy has been fully vetted, is up to date on her vaccines, and spayed. If you’re interested in adopting Daisy, please be sure to fill out our Farfel’s Rescue adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in Daisy, submitting our Farfel's Rescue adoption application is essential. Applications from other sites like Petfinder or Adoptapet don’t provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving pup. We appreciate your understanding! Let’s work together to give Daisy the loving home and happy life she deserves. Thank you for choosing rescue!

Story
Hi, my name is Charley Feeny and while I'm the happiest buddy now, before my Underdog days I had a pretty rough go of it. I used to have a loving mama, but one day she went away, and I found myself living with a person who did not like me very much. He was not feeding me or even letting me in from the cold. I wandered off and a nice lady found me. I showed her where I lived and she took me back, but the man said I was a stray and even though I barked and barked, he would not let me inside. The nice lady took me to a shelter. They said I was a hospice senior, and I that I was on the urgent rescue list. Fortunately, the staff really liked me, so they reached out to Underdogs, who sent a new mama to pick me up. My new foster home is so nice. There are other dogs to play with, I am allowed to curl up under the covers whenever I want to and there is lots of healthy food and treats to eat. She took me to the dog doc and she told her that I was neither neither a senior nor a hospice dog. I tried to tell everyone that, but apparently dog docs are more trustworthy. As it turns out, I am only about 6 years old and though not being fed regularly and neglected overall was hard on my kidneys, proper food and some medicine have been healing them nicely. I now weigh thirteen pounds and am looking perky and am the most handsome scruffy terrier and miniature poodle mix.  I love the fenced yard at my foster digs and I especially love going for walks in the morning. New foster mama put an open crate in the living room so I can go in there any time I need time to myself. I also like toys to play with. One weekend we had lots of company, including a 12-year-old girl and extra dogs. Mama said she was so proud of how I behaved.  She tells me that we are looking for my new forever family, someone that will take me for walks, feed me well, love me and help me feel secure again. She says that I will do best with adults and older children with dog experience. I love dog friends, but the kitties are not my most favorite.  If you're interested in adopting Charlie Feeny, please fill out an adoption application here: https://underdogsrescue.org/adopt-form/ Underdogs is a small volunteer-based animal rescue and we unfortunately do not have the resources to respond to phone and email inquires about our adoptable animals at this time. If you're interested in learning more or setting up a meeting with one of our animals, please complete an adoption application first. It may take up to two weeks for application review and one of our coordinators will reach out to you as soon as we are through the intitial review process. We appreciate your patience and understanding! Thank you!  ##2084570##
