Meet Edison! Edison was euth listed with no notice in a shelter down in Texas due to his age, but luckily one of our rescue partners snagged him at the last second and he came to us. He loves car rides, sunbathing, and playing outside. He prefers to hang out on his own most days and is more of a distant guy than a lap dog, but we've been working hard to shower him with love and bring his silly side out. Edison has been described as a "cat"at times, he likes his own space and wants to do his own thing. He is very low maintenance. He loves sunbathing and being outside. He found a home for a while, but was ultimately returned by his adopter because he was being aggressive anytime he was put into a kennel. As we've learned, Edison does not do good with kennels and really struggles with any change at all. When we move him between facilities, he reverts for a while and becomes a different dog. But once he settles in and remembers that he is safe and we love him so much, he returns to being sweet silly Edison. He doesn't like other dogs, so would do best as an only pup. Please consider opening your heart and home to this sweet senior boy.

Meet Duke! Duke came to us all the way from a kill shelter in Florida, where he was euth-listed due to his age and blindness. After making the long trip, he has settled in well at the little red barn where he is proving to be quite the sweetheart. Duke loves to walk around the barn and absolutely LOVES his toys. He carries them everywhere and will play for hours. Due to the fact that he's blind and loves toys, we think maybe a home with older kids would be best just because he does sometimes accidentally nip a hand when he's trying to grab his toy. Same with kisses, sometimes he accidentally misses but he is all sweetness with all people. Despite being blind, he gets around really well and doesn't let it stop him from being a great dog! So far, we think Duke might do best as an only-pet. The other dogs spook him and he does much better on his own. He is an older guy who would prefer a calm house where he can mosey around the rest of his days.

Meet Danny! Danny is a puppy who was born and raised in unfortunate circumstances. He has never knows a real home and has been in shelters his entire life so far, the past 4 years. Due to the isolation he experienced as a younger pup, Danny is very shy around new people. He is very easily won over by spray cheese though and quickly becomes a kissy cuddly boy. Danny is very dog friendly but would do best in a home without small animals. Meet Kona! This sweet senior girl has been bounced from rescue to rescue, due to issues that had nothing to do with her. When we finally took her in, we learned that she is wonderful! She is very gentle and silly and even has zoomies despite being an older gal. She's great with people but prefers to be the only pup in a home to soak up all the love to herself as she had a tough life before coming to us. Cuddling next to her humans is her favorite activity, as well as zooming around the backyard and playing with stuffies. She is the perfect mix of laid back and lively, a happy old girl looking for her Furever home. Kona does have a history of seizures, however her meds have been keeping her stable and healthy and happy!

I was adopted back in April of 2014 from the Safe Harbor Program (Bonner Springs, KS). I was born January 31, 2014 and I'm 10 years old. I am energetic even at my age! If I had it my way, I would be outside running around in the sun all day long! However, given my owner's schedule and lifestyle, I have been an indoor dog for the majority of my life. I am very social and curious about my surroundings, and I love attention! One unique aspect about me is that I don't bark that much compared to other doggies! I will whimper if I need some attention, I'm hungry or if I need to go outside. I am very well-mannered. However, I do get excited around new people and sometimes jump up for kisses and a closer sniff! I do know "sit," "stay," and "come here" commands, and I respond well to finger snaps and pointing as well once I have warmed up to you. Energetic, Fun, and Loving are a few words that describe me.

We adopted Annie from Great Plains SPCA when she was 2 months old, and she recently turned 1 year old. She is energetic, playful, and a great walker. Annie has never been aggressive and does great around kids and other dogs, but may take time to warm up to dogs before becoming playful. She is very obedient and well trained with commands (come, sit, lay, paw, side, kennel), walks well on a leash, is kennel trained and potty trained. Some of Annie's favorite things are playing fetch outside with a tennis ball, going on long walks, tough chew toys, and being near her owners. We would love to find Annie a family who has plenty of time to walk her and plenty of space outside for her to run around and play.
