Story
Atwood is a playful four-year-old pooch who would love a quiet home to call his own. He spent some time in a noisy shelter environment and is so over that noisy chaos. All those dogs yap yap yapping all the time and all he wanted was a nap, darn it. He's a very handsome boy who loves to pose for pictures and play with his toys, especially his stuffies and his giggle ball. Atwood gets all cute and wiggly when he's happy, which makes us happy, too. He would really like it if his new home has peanut butter; we don't think that's asking too much. Atwood prefers a peaceful existence in an abode with no kids and no other pets, please. Most of all, though, Atwood wants to be with people who love him. He's such a lovely, sweet boy. Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 for more info. Atwood is in the KC metro, but transport is available to the right home, foster or permanent. #thepetconnection #thepetconnectionks #AdoptDontShop #PetAdoption #DogLovers #KansasCityPets #RescueDog

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Virginia (virginiak@tarasdream.org) for more information about this pet. Please visit our web site at https://tarasdream.org/adopt to fill out an adoption application for this pet and for more info about our adoption process.  Meet Sabrina!  Sabrina is a pittie mix, and she’s a firecracker of energy who would make for a sweet companion for an active household. She walks well on a leash, and she does simmer down once she gets some energy out. Her energy level is in part because she’s in a boarding facility where her time to play is always limited, so we believe she would settle into a home environment very nicely. Sabrina’s good with most other dogs but would would need some time to get used to sharing her home with another pet as she hasn't had to since being in our program. She’s friendly with everyone, but as she can be so excited at times, she would be best suited for a home without very small children that she might knock over with kisses!  Sabrina wants to remind you that it’s not easy to find a home when you’re a black dog, and she would love an opportunity to meet you and melt your heart.         Approximate Birthdate:  July 2022 Adoption Fee:  My adoption fee is sponsored by a generous volunteer! TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL. Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.     For more information please fill out an application.     CONTACT INFO The Animal Rescue Alliance (TARA) Web site: tarasdream.org Adoption Information & Applications: https://tarasdream.org/adopt Upcoming Adoption Events: https://tarasdream.org/events Email: email@tarasdream.org January 26, 2025, 10:33 am

Story
Rocky is a gentle soul who starts his morning with some stretches, downward dog yoga poses, and meditation (aka naps in the sun). He's a big chap at about 80 pounds, but don't worry, at just about five years old, Rocky won't be growing more! We recently learned that Rocky loooooooves to swim! Like, really loves it and could possibly be a water sports dog, too. He dives for the ball and really commits by putting his head and body under the water! This pooch has heart *and* skills, we're happy to report. He's also super cute -- bonus! You couldn't ask for a better pooch than this guy. He's intelligent, affectionate, loving, house-trained, and doesn’t chew on anything (except for toys and Benebone wishbones). Rocky is good with adults and children of all ages -- he grew up with babies and toddlers and loves spending time with a 2.5-year-old toddler now, playing ball with him for hours. Do you have a dog in need of a canine companion? Fantastic! Rocky adores the dogs in his foster home. He carefully picks out toys to share with them and then they enjoy a good game of chase in the yard. He would also do great as the only pooch in his home if he gets plenty of attention from the humans. Rocky is not so much a cat guy, though. Rocky already knows sit, stay, come, touch, and shake. He loves earning treats by doing these tricks and could be easily trained to learn even more. Rocky takes treats so, so gently from your hand, too. (He's such a good boy!) Some of Rocky's favorite things are getting pets, riding in the car, being outdoors, playing with toys, and going on walks. While Rocky loves cuddling in bed with his humans, he patiently waits to be invited up, because he's polite like that. What Rocky would love to do most of all, though, is find his forever home. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you're The One. If not, please share Rocky's information with everyone you know so you can visit Rocky at their house when he gets adopted. #thepetconnection

Story
Please share! Moss is a sweet lab-mix boy with a ton of personality. He's pretty doggone cute, too. His coat looks brown in some light and black in others, and he has an adorable nubbin of a tail. And those airplane ears? Be still my heart. Moss is about eight years old and 65 pounds--perfection! This guy lights up when he plays with his dog friends, so much so that we think Moss would benefit from having another dog in his new home. His favorite toys have squeakers (yay!), and he'll play fetch with you and chase with his dog buddy. When it's cold outside, Moss likes to cuddle up and rest his head on your lap. During the summers, though, he can be found rolling in the grass and sunbathing. No matter the season, he appreciates butt scritches and belly rubs from his people. Moss is incredibly smart. He knows how to sit, stay, come, look at me, touch (your hand or a post-it placed somewhere), shake, lay down, and find it). Moss is very treat motivated, so teaching him new things will be a breeze. He likes to be challenged with puzzles where food is the reward. (We're with you on that one, buddy.) Young kids make Moss nervous, so he'd prefer an adult-only home if you don't mind. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 about making Moss part of your family. He's in the Kansas City area, but transport is available to the right home. #thepetconnection #adoptdontshop #adoption #adopt #adoptashelterpet #adoptme

Story
This gorgeous girl is June Bug, our friend from The Rescue Project. She's a lab mix and about three years old. But more importantly, she's a happy girl is so much fun! June Bug isn't just pretty. She has the smarts, too! She's very willing to work for people she likes (and food, she's willing to work for food). June Bug particularly enjoys showing people that she knows shake with both paws, as she's perfected that skill, and knows she'll get ... food! She likes learning new things, so go ahead and teach her all the fun stuff to help keep her mind busy. June Bug can be cautious around new people and things, but give her a chance and show her you're one of the kind, good humans. She'll love you to the moon and back and show you her snuggly, goofy side. She is worth your time, we promise. June Bug is looking for an adult-only home with a fenced yard, as kids can be loud and scary and apartments aren't going to work for her. She needs to be the only pet in her new home. Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 for more information. June Bug is staying in the KC metro, but transport is available to the right home. #thepetconnection #JuneBug #LabMix #DogTraining #DogLovers #RescueDog #AdoptDontShop #KCmetro #DogRescue

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Birdie may have some frosting on her face, but she has SO much love to give! Birdie’s foster mom reports that she is pretty much perfect, and settled right in to her temporary home and routine right away. She is house trained, plays well with the other dog in the home, and will even bring you her leash when she wants a walk! Her foster mom describes her as the smart, sweet, and just the right amount of playful. She is equally happy to cuddle, nap, or go on adventures with you. She has great manners, is social, and knows basic commands. If you are looking for a dog that is past all those puppy shenanigans, but still has plenty of life and love to give, Birdie is you girl!! All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested (6 months and above) and current on vaccinations and preventions prior to adoption. At the time of adoption all dogs are signed up with a unique Safe Paws QR pet ID tag, the adopter is required to maintain a monthly membership of $2.99/month for (at minimum) the first year. This helps insure your new furry family member makes his way back to you if lost. Leashes and collars are also required at the time of adoption. You are welcome to bring your own, or we have plenty to choose from at the shelter as well. If the pet you fall in love with is not quite ready for adoption, we do offer a $50 hold deposit that will insure you have first "dibs" on adoption. Once an animal is available for adoption, we are not able to hold them, as there are so many animals waiting to come into our program. Midwest Animal ResQ offers a 30-day adjustment period within which you can evaluate the pet's progress and your adoption decision. If, within those 30 days, you determine your recently adopted pet isn't a good fit, you may return the animal and receive a MARQ credit that can be used toward the adoption of another animal. Our biggest priority is finding the very best match for you, and Completing Families one Tail at a Time! Our shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street in Raytown, MO. We are open to meet pets Tuesday through Friday from 10-6, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. We are closed on Mondays. You are welcome to fill out our quick 10 question adoption survey to facilitate a quicker process. This will also start the meeting process for those animals in foster.

Story
5 1/2 year old Milo is a big, beautiful black Lab with a heart of gold and a tail that doesn’t stop wagging. This sweet boy came to us after his owner sadly passed away. The shelter is no place for Milo, who was clearly a beloved pet and he is extremely stressed. He previously lived with another dog, had visiting doggie friends and he’s been hanging out with the other easy going and polite pups in the shelter playgroups. He would love to have another canine sibling. Milo is living in a foster home. If you would like meet him please email foster@kcpetproject.orgWe know that he is housebroken, has never met a stranger and loves to play with tennis balls. Of course. He’s a Labrador. It’s what they do. Milo is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered and microchipped.*Rosie Fund is providing Milo`s adopter with a Rosie Life Starter Kit, which includes a collar and leash, ID tag, food, treats, toy, and KCPP $25 gift card for other enrichment items. PLUS Bigfoot Pet Photography has added a $350 photo artwork voucher! Visit rosiefund.org to see videos of Milo and all current Rosie Dogs available for adoption.

Story
We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in fostering or adoption from us, please fill lout our online application at kcpaws.org. Whiskey's adoption fee will be $150. She must go to a home with at least one other dog.  Whiskey lived on a rural farm in Oklahoma as a completely feral dog. When she arrived she had no idea what it meant to be touched by a human. She had never been on a leash, never even eaten from a bowl. She was terrified of everything around her and did not know what it meant to trust anyone. For weeks, our staff would sit in her run just to get her used to human company, she was to scared to take treats from us and would wait to eat until the night time when everyone was gone. We slowly began to introduce her to other dogs, which really helped her start to come out of her shell just enough to go outside and back in on her own. Whiskey’s rehabilitation has been nearly 4 years in the making. Slowly, she finally started to bond with a particular staff member. She enjoys quiet time and gentle pets and brushing. Whiskey is now in a wonderful foster home and has made a lot of improvement and is beginning to trust people. Her foster mom has been working on getting her used to leashes, and she now goes for walks EVERY NIGHT! This is a huge improvement, and we are so proud of her. Whiskey has another dog in her foster home and they get along well, she's not really much of a player but she co-exists with another dog just fine. We are requiring that she go to a home with another dog since she is much more comfortable with other canines around to show her everything is okay. She often likes to spend time just laying in her bed. She is a den dog who likes to have a safe space.  Whiskey is food motivated and will warm up to new things with the help of her favorite treats. She squeals with joy at new foods, and especially loves a little bit of ice cream. Overall, Whiskey has had a long journey to learning how to be a house pet, and she is still learning everyday. She is a quiet, shy girl who has never barked or growled in almost two years in her foster home. We're hoping to find Whiskey a family that will give her lots of time, love, and TLC.February 5, 2025, 2:05 pm

Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption. SEEKING FOSTER HOME Meet Lycan, the best older gentleman with the kindest soul. Lycan is about 7 years old and he has had a pretty rough go at life, although you wouldn't know it when you meet him. Lycan was kept on a chain for his whole life until we caught wind of his situation and were able to take him into our program. When we arrived to take him off his chain, he was starved and dehydrated beyond belief, but happy as all get out to see us walking up. Not a growl to be heard, Lycan knew we were there to save him. After 2 of our staff members cut off his rusted and filthy collar, it was on to a vet visit for vaccines, a 5 hour car ride, and thus began our journey of nursing Lycan back to health. Lycan is currently on a meal plan to get back up to a healthy weight so he can be safely neutered and prepped for his forever home. While we work on this process, we are desperately seeking a foster home, so Lycan can learn what it's like to be a true pet and not an object to be left outside. If you can find it in your heart to give this guy the opportunity to be an inside dog for the first time in 7 years, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org. Lycan does need to be an only pet at this time, and needs a home free of young children. October 28, 2024, 6:52 pm
