I was adopted at the county shelter. My current Mommy wants a nice home for me as Dad is having a problem adjusting to me being in the house. I am crate trained, and need some work to be house broken. currently 10 months old around 60lb (top of medium breed) and love my toys, especially my red ball. Very passionate about food and love pets. Im not a huge barker unless you are trying to leave me unsupervised. I love all the walks outside with all the smells, and mom says I cant take take toys. Pretty decent on the leash but have moments when I want to really smell something or see a bunny.

Story
Hi there! My name is Sylvia, but my foster family calls me Big Silly! They think I'm a gorgeous mix of the best breeds out there: Lab and German Shorthaired Pointer. They also want you to know I've had my shots and was recently spayed. I had a tough run before being saved by Peak Lab, and my foster dad will tell you all about it. But with that in the past, my zest for life really shows! Usually I like to relax. My foster dad works from home and I curl up by his feet. I hang with my foster sisters while they read or watch TV. I'm also comfy alone in my crate or in a small room if you need to leave for a few hours. Yet sometimes I'm a high-energy girl, and life with me won't be boring! I love zoomies, tug-of-war, fetch, chew toys, and playing with dog friends. I'm great on a leash, and I need a walk or some active playtime every day. I'm a very good girl but unsurprisingly my manners could use some polish, and I'll fit in best with school-age children because cuddling can be a contact sport for me! I have a lifetime full of love and good times to share with my forever family. I can't wait to meet you!

Story
Hi there! I'm Mac! I'm a 12-week-old male Labrador mix with a big heart and an even bigger tail that's always wagging. I'm full of love and can't wait to share it with my forever family! Here's a little about me: Friendly and Outgoing: I get along with everyone I meet, whether they have two legs or four! I've already made some great friends with my foster dog siblings and I'm always up for playtime. I've also met kids and cats, and I'm excited to befriend everyone, though I'm still learning how to interact with those mysterious felines. Smart and Trainable: I'm a quick learner and love treats, which makes training super fun and easy. I'm getting the hang of potty training and crate training. I might whine a bit at first, but I settle down pretty quickly and sleep soundly through the night. Playful and Fun: I'm full of puppy energy and love playing with toys. But don't let my playfulness fool you-I also enjoy snuggling up for some cozy cuddle sessions. Healthy and Ready: I've been to the vet and got a clean bill of health. I'm up to date on my vaccines and microchipped, so I'll be all set to join your family. If you're looking for a lovable, energetic puppy who's eager to be part of your life, I'm your guy! Come meet me and see just how great life can be with me by your side.

Story
Hi, I'm Danny! I'm a 16-week-old pup with a heart full of love and a lot of sweetness! My foster family thinks I might be a lab mix, but they say I look just like a Carolina dog. I'm the perfect puppy package-full of love and plenty of silly awkwardness that will keep you smiling. I love to cuddle up close, and I'm always up for some fun playtime. Chasing toys is my favorite, even if I'm a bit clumsy about it-I promise, it's part of my charm! During playtime, I can get a little nippy, but it's all in good fun. Give me lots of chew toys to distract me from fingers and arms. Also burst of fun exercise help keep me out of trouble. I stop nipping when given a puppy massage and I'll sometimes drift off to sleep! I'm a smart boy too-I learned how to sit so fast! And I'm already mostly potty trained, with just a few little accidents here and there. I sleep like a champ in my crate without accident yet, and when I'm not playing or snoozing, I'm usually right by your side, soaking up all the pets and puppy massages I can get. I've already won over the hearts of my foster family, and I know I'll do the same with you! Oh, and don't worry-I'm fully vetted and ready to go to my forever home. If you're looking for a sweet, funny, and smart little buddy, I'm your guy. Can't wait to meet you!

Story
Meet Moose! Age: approx 1 year Breed: Black lab mix Size: about 41 lbs. Temperament: super affectionate and playful About Me: Hi! I'm Moose, a playful and loving boy who's ready to find my forever home. I'm full of energy and curiosity, always eager to explore and learn new things. My days are filled with tail wags, puppy kisses, and lots of games of fetch! My Favorite Things: Playtime: I love chasing toys (especially a tennis ball in the back yard, and I bring it right back to you!) chewing on my favorite squeaky, and getting silly with my humans. Cuddles: After a fun play session, I enjoy snuggling up for some cozy cuddle time. Sometimes I think I'm a lap dog, but I just want to be close to you and show you all the love! Learning: I'm housetrained, crate trained, and I know basic commands like sit and shake. I really enjoy my morning and evening walk and smelling all the smells. What I Need: Training and Socialization: I'm looking for a loving family who will help me grow into a well-behaved adult dog. I'll benefit from consistent training and socialization to become the best companion I can be. Exercise and Play: I'm an active puppy who needs plenty of playtime and exercise to keep me happy and healthy. Love and Attention: I thrive on human interaction and would love to be part of a family where I can get lots of affection and attention. Perfect Home for Me: I'm adaptable and ready to fit into a variety of living situations, as long as I get the love and care I need. I haven't been around cats or small children, but I am a gentle soul and my foster mom says as long as I get love, I seem happy! If you're looking for a delightful, energetic furry friend to brighten your life, I'd love to meet you! Let's start our adventure together and make some wonderful memories.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Do you want an active senior dog?  Boone is the dog that is perfect for you. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BOONE? If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window:  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC    Boone is a beautiful, friendly Black Lab who 12 year old and 60 pounds.  Boone is such a good boy who deserves another good home. His owner had him since he was a puppy but unfortunately his owner has serious health issues and can longer care for Boone.  They loved Boone so much, they choose to give him up for adoption so he could continue to have a great life. Boone loves humans and canines.  He loves playing fetch with his humans more than playing with other dogs. He has not been around cats or  children, so we are not sure how he would behavior.  Older children would probably be best.  Boone is housebroken and has great house manners, so he does not need to be crated when we are not home.  Boone has a lot of energy for an older dog.  A fenced yard would be nice to have.  But if he doesn't have a fenced yard, he would need a daily walk and some serious play time.  Bonne is leashed trained and he is very well behaved on our walks. Boone's loves to play fetch.  You should plan on purchasing a ball launcher or have a good arm!  His love of fetch knows no bounds: hot or cold, day or night, rain or shine, he's always ready to play. He loves butt scratches, ear massages and belly rubs.  He'll join you on the couch or bed or be content with his dog bed.  Boone is looking for a family to play fetch with him and love him for the sweet boy he is.  He will need a home with another dog or with a human who is home most of the time. He is not used to being totally alone. Boone has always lived with either another dog or a person who was home most of the day.  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    We prefer that applicants live no further than one hour from Cary NC.  Our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian is any medical care is needed prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We will consider applicants who live a bit further IF the fit is perfect for Boone. Please consider giving Boone the loving forever home that he deserves.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BOONE? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PLEASE NOTE: If you are on PetFinder or other search site, you do NOT need to introduce yourself.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is in the dogs bio below.    FOSTER COMMENTS: Jack is a handsome guy with a shiny coat and the cutest curved tail. In April, he turned 2 years old.  He is a Labrador Retriever mix who is fully grown and weighs 35 lbs. He is an affectionate dog that loves his people and stuffed animals.  Jack is initially timid with strangers but warms up quickly and is so friendly.  He loves other dogs and wants to play!  He is high energy so the other dog has to be able to deal with that.  He is very interested in cats and wants to play so he is best in a home without cats.  His energy level is alot for young children so he is best in a home with older children.   Jack is not a vocal dog but is excitable when he wants to go outside or be fed and will then bark loudly.  Jack is totally housebroken and crate trained.  He is in his crate when I am not home to supervise and at night to sleep.  He goes in his crate easily and I give him a treat each time he goes in. Jack loves other dogs but I think he would be fine as the only dog in the house.  He loves his people and all their attention. He will greet you with a doggie wiggle butt!   Jack would love a fenced yard to get out his energy, but he does fine on a leash if his adopter can make the commitment to walk him several times a day. Warm up your arm because Jack loves to retrieve a ball!  He loves his soft stuffed toys and will carry them around but will chew the stuffing out if not supervised, he's very "puppy" like.  Jack would be a great family dog, he's a great size, in excellent health and very affectionate.  He learns easily because he is treat motivated. He is ready for his forever home.  Could Jack be a new member of your family?  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING JACK? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All Best Friend Pet Adoption dogs require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application. The link to our application is  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.   Meet one of the Hawaiian Litter puppies....Lani.  She is such a sweet puppy who was born on 6/1/24.  Her momma, Tiki, is a 3 year old 30 lb rat terrier mix.  We feel that Lani will be larger and probably at least 50 lbs when full grown.   Lani is crate trained.  She  sleeps in the crate at night and is crated when we leave the home. She quiets down well unless she can hear activity in the rest of the house. Piano music seems to quiet her and put her to sleep.  Lani is working on house training.  She is doing well but still needs to be taken outside often.  If someone works away from the house, they would need to have a plan to allow for potty breaks.   She has a wonderful temperament and rests well during the day.  She is extremely friendly and loves meeting people. She enjoys sitting on laps. Lani enjoys playing with our 4yo dog.  She can be very rambunctious (she is a puppy!)  but also shares toys very well.  Lani does very well with older children but may be too active for very young children who are not used to puppy behavior. Puppies may nibble, bite and mouth so may not be appropriate for very young children unless they have had experience around dogs/puppies.   She is vocal when she wants attention so may not be appropriate for living in an apartment and being left alone for long periods of time.  She has a lot of energy.  If she doesn't have her own yard to run around it, she will need several walks a day in additional to potty breaks.  Lani would love another dog in the home but would also be fine as a solo dog if given a lot of attention, playtime and appropriate exercise.  Puppies have a lot of energy:-)  Lani is a friendly, adorable dog who will be a great companion. We feel she will be the kind of dog that likes to go on runs when she gets old enough.  She will need chew toys, as she loves the ones she has in her foster home. We love fostering her and it will be very hard to let her go. She has a way of getting into your heart.  Could she get into YOUR heart?  Please consider giving Lani the loving home she deserves.   EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:  Lani's mother (Tiki) was rescued from a shelter and we didn't know she was pregnant. Her foster came home and discovered she had a litter of four sweet girls waiting for her.  What a surprise! Maybe you can open your home for one of these lucky puppies. They love dogs and all people.      Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants for puppies should  live 30-60  minutes from Cary NC (no further than one hour) since Lani must receive additional medical care in the Cary area.  Best Friend Pet Adoption will cover all medical cost for Lani until she is spayed when she is 6 months old.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING LANI ? She is packing up her toys already and can't wait to meet you. Please consider making Kala a part of your family.  She is a joy!     NOTE: Kala cannot live in a multi family building without her own dedicated yard. She is still susceptible to diseases.
