Story
Hi there! I have just met you and I LOVE you! My name is Dug, and I am a 4-month-old Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd mix. I am full of energy and love, but most of all I’m ready to be your best friend. I love to go on adventures, play with balls (specifically tennis), and help you get all your wilderness explorer badges. One of my favorite things to do is play with dogs, especially dogs my own age/size. I’m still a puppy and definitely chew on things that I’m not supposed to but a good ice cube or Nylabone helps distract me and soothe my aching gums. After a long day of playing hard, I just love to snuggle next to my foster mom or lay in the sunshine. Because my history isn't known, but the humans in my life now suspect I didn't have the best upbringing, I can be protective over my toys and food. They are working on teaching me how to share, but for this reason it might be best that I not live with small children who don't have great dog manners. My foster family will update my bio as this changes, and they say I do take correction to bad behaviors very well, so hopefully I will soon learn that there are plenty of toys and treats to go around for everyone. I'm also working on learning that kitties aren't here to chase, but I don't think I would hurt one if I caught it...I just like the game of chase! All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the location as it is a privately run boarding, training, and grooming facility. Meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters. Age: 4-5 months Adoption fee: $500

Story
Sweet Ginger is being returned to us after being in a home about 5 months.  They loved her and are heartbroken but Ginger has high prey drive for free roaming chickens.  That being said she must have a secure fenced in yard, a privacy fence is preferred or at least one that is 5 ft high.  She seems to be fine with other dogs after a proper introduction including small ones.  Ginger could also flourish as an only dog as she loves her people.  She has not been around cats so we are unsure but based on her prey drive a home without cats would be best.   Children should be older and respectful.  Ginger is about 8 years old and 50 lbs, a nice manageable size. She is fully vetted and had a dental last fall.   Ginger is housetrained and loves to ride in the car.  She can be left with the run of the house while you are gone without issue.  Ginger has the most adorable smile, we think it is adorable.   If interested in Ginger, please email hartmanshounds@gmail.com.  Her adoption fee is $150.August 5, 2024, 6:11 pm

Story
Brooks is almost complete with his training at our Grafton Reintegration Center Program. Here he learned all his basic commands! He is also house trained and good in his crate. Brooks is not yet back to the shelter, so to meet him you'll need to contact Rachael at 440-773-0270. Meet Brooks! This goofy, fun loving boy is ready to make you laugh. His silly tactics are sure to have you belly laughing in no time. Brooks is a big boy who is learning that he doesn't need to jump on you for you to reach him. So he is hoping to be adopted by someone who can help him keep up with the manners he is learning at GRC. . This sweet boy has the best disposition. and loves everyone. Brooks loves other dogs, although we do require a meet and greet to make sure it's a great fit! This boy loves to be near his people and could often confuse your lap for a dog bed. He loves to be pet and will do just about anything for a treat.

Story
Say hello to Renegade! This distinguished gentleman is a silver fox, at least in his face! This sweet black lab mix is a friendly, goofy boy that would love nothing more than to be your trusting companion and rest his head on your lap from time to time. Renegade's favorite past time you ask? Well he'd be happy laying upside down on the couch cuddled next to his favorite people watching whatever his humans want on TV. While we don't know his entire history, Renegade went through some trying times recently, and we've observed that many everyday activities in the outside world seem foreign and frightening to him. Walking on a leash is one of these activities. Although Renegade is getting much more comfortable walking on a leash, in new environments his nervousness gets the best of hm. Therefore; it is preferred that his forever home have a fenced in yard. Renegade is nervous around new people, but quickly warms up with a wagging tail, especially when you have a treat to offer, which he will take very gently. He is also house- and crate trained, so bringing him home and adjusting to your daily routine will be a breeze. Renegade is dog-friendly but doesn't seem interested in playing around much anymore. He would prefer to play and cuddle with his human friends. He could do well with another dog to follow their lead and gain more confidence but he'd be just fine on his own too. Will you give this handsome fellow the retirement years he deserves? If interested, please contact his consultant, Rachael, at 440-773-0270.

Story
Meet Taylor! Taylor is a recent graduate of our training program and is ready to find her forever home! This beautiful, strong girl has learned an impressive list of commands, including sit, down, come, stay, heel, leave-it, and place. She's also fully potty trained and crate trained. Talk about a star student! Taylor is a social butterfly who loves everyone she meets, both people and pups. She made a few doggie friends during her training, but to ensure a good fit, a meet and greet will be required if you already have other dogs at home. Taylor's looking for a family that will continue her training and give her all the love she deserves. Could that be you? Here is what Taylor's handler at GRC had to say about her "Taylor is a strong willed girl. She is a good dog and she is alert on everything. Taylor gets along with other dogs, but would be best in a home with a male dog as she can be picky with her female dog friends. Taylor loves cuddling next to you and sleeping with you in your bed. She loves chewing on bones and playing fetch with the ball. You can have two balls, throw one, have her fetch it and bring it back and she will drop it and wait for you to throw the other one. She loves that game! She likes chasing birds also, so be prepared if she sees one! She thinks they are really fun. "
