Howdy partner! My name is Harley!! I am a young Lab mix looking for a loving, cuddly, and affectionate home to spoil me rotten! Once upon a time I was an outdoor doggo. I used to spend my time in the yard, watching the pretty sky and digging all the holes. I then ended up at the shelter and felt super duper scared. What was this place? What were all those noises? Who are all these people? Why was I now living in this smaller space when I was used to a yard? I wasn't used to being inside, and even though the humans tried to reassure me and tell me it was okay, I was too scared to trust them. The humans felt it best I go to a foster home to see how I did living in the real world and being an indoor dog. My foster mama was AWESOME. She was super patient with me, showed me more to life, and told me "don't worry Harley, I promise you will be okay". I made leaps and bounds, and now I'm ready for my new adoptive home. Because I was more used to living an isolated life without much human attention, I tend to struggle with some attachment issues now that I know what true love looks like. I hate being left home alone, and search for my favourite person when they're gone. Walking on leash was foreign to me as well, but foster mama helped me overcome that a bit. It's safe to say I'll need a super patient and dedicated home to continue socialization with me, and help ease into more exposure of this big yet beautiful world. I am looking for a home with a fenced yard, and an adopter that has lots of time to spend with me. Older respectful kids would be best. And while dogs do scare me a lot, I think a super calm and respectful dog friend that will give me time to warm would possibly help me a bit. In case you're wondering, here is what my foster mom has said about me:My name is Harley, and I'm a curious, loving and affectionate puppy looking for my furever home. I love being outside, and I'm pretty sure I'm a mixed Labrador-Border Collie working dog so I love zoomies in a big fenced yard, long walks and lots of exercise mixed with naps in between. I'm pretty good on a leash. I'm pretty smart too and respond to consistent and patient training for all those other things humans would like me to do. Even though I'm a year old, I've been outside most of my life, so I'm still learning about being a house dog. I LOVE my people and I don't like it when they leave me, so I need help with separation desensitization. I would like to learn how to play with people and toys and what treats are all about too. I like being brushed and that's good, because I shed year round. I would be happiest in a home with a big fenced yard, and people that love me. Apartment living is not for me, nor super young children. How I am with cats isn't known. I'm a healthy, affectionate boy destined to be a great dog. Are you my family-in-waiting?
