Story
Mama came in with a whole slew of puppies. The trapper originally said she thought it was just 4 or 5 pups but it ended up being 10! She was living in a shed and being fed but has had limited human interaction. All her puppies have since been adopted.  She loves other dogs and would do well in a home that has another playful dog to bring her out of her shell. She loves to rough house and play tug of war with smaller dogs. Dogs bigger than her are sort of scary and she'll need time to warm up to the big ones. She has been out in the yard with calmer dogs before as well & has done fine. There is only one dog she did not like (Rocko) who was bigger and approaches other dogs like a tank. A meet and greet with any other dogs in the home will be required.  She goes outside and kennels up well but is fearful of human interaction. She allows us to sit in the kennel with her and will take a treat from our hand but is fearful of being petted.  The rescue is primarily interested in getting her into a foster home that may be adoption minded once she settles in. There are only so many social skills we can teach in a kennel setting. She is spayed, up to date on rabies/bordatella/DHPPv/heartworm preventative.  Our process:    We are not a “first come first served” shelter. Our process may be a little longer but it’s designed to make sure animals are going to homes that meet their needs. You may have a great home and be lovely people, but sometimes a dog just isn’t suited for your circumstance. For example, one dog may need a six foot privacy fence due to climbing behaviors while another may be fine with 4 ft chain link. Another dog may need a backyard while another would do fine in an apartment setting. We know our animals pretty well and we don’t want you or your new addition to be forced into something that’s not ideal for everyone.    Schedule a visit with the dog by going to www.copilotanimalrescue.org Feel free to reach out to us by email with additional questions: copilotanimalrescue@gmail.com Fill out an adoption application (you can do this before or after you meet the dog). Message us once you complete the app so we can start working on your references.  Let your vet know (if you have current animals) that we will be calling. They frequently need your permission to give us any info.  Home visit and adoption trial. If all lights are green, we will do a home visit followed by an adoption trial of one week to make sure that everyone is comfortable with the new addition.  Contracts are signed prior to the adoption trial. ##1344357##

Story
Mama (Rita) gave birth to 6 puppies outside of an abandoned house on 9/16/2024. Unfortunately, all but two puppies died within 24 hours. This was the final push for Rita's owners, a homeless mom and her son, to relinquish the surviving family to rescue. CoPilot Animal Rescue worked with several other rescues to remove more than 7 dogs from the premises. Mama Rita had severe mastitis that developed even before she gave birth and had to be treated immediately.  Mom appears to be purebred black lab, but dad is unknown. These puppies are well socialized and received their first set of vaccinations on 10/30/24 and their second shots on 11/22/24. They can be adopted out before they are fixed, but will have special contract conditions. The adoptions will not finalized until the pups are fixed and finished their shot series. The rescue will pay for remaining shots and their spay/neuter at Texas Coalition for Animal Protection in addition to providing a microchip. They have been dewormed several times. And as is common for puppies and mamas, they will continue to need regular deworming.  Their all-inclusive adoption fee is $200 (includes shots, spay/neuter, microchip). Adoption fees can be waived with volunteer work hours at our main facility in Sanger.  ##2237369##

Story
Marley is a beautiful 8-year-old Great Dane/Lab mix looking for a loving new home. She’s a spayed and microchipped female weighing approximately 100 lbs. Marley is a gentle giant who adores affection and thrives on companionship. She gets along well with other dogs and would do best in a home with adults or families with older children, as her size might be overwhelming for little ones. Unfortunately, due to an upcoming move, we are heartbroken to have to re-home her. We’re looking for a family who will give her the love and care she deserves. If you’re ready to welcome this sweet girl into your life, please reach out!

Story
It is time for Riley to be adopted! Her paw (which had a nail in it) is all totally healed no more limping.  She is house broken and no accidents in the house even when her fosters leave her for hours alone.  She has learned to sit and walks well on a leash. She knows how to use a doggie door.  She loves to run when not leashed.  A fenced yard is a necessity.  A home with another dog would be good since she likes to play so much.  Kids would be wonderful for her cause she always wants attention.  Very loving and wants to be with you all the time.  She is very smart and food motivated.  Riley has had all her shots and is on heartworm preventative.  She has a microchip. She is also spayed and has a scar.  Riley does not ride well in a car.   Backstory: Riley, and adult female black lab with a white chest, was a farm stray out in Decatur. She then hurt her paw stepping on a nail. That's when the granddaughter of the farm owner reached out for help.  Riley came into care 8/19/2023. She is sweet and timid. But if you sit with her, she lays down next to you and asks for quiet affection. She is not loud but is a little anxious in a kennel environment (low whining). This isn't uncommon when there are 20 new dogs barking at you.   Prior caretaker reports that she was let into the house and has good manners, is good with other dogs, and ignores cats. She appears potty trained and asks to go out when she needs to go.  She was vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and dewormed on intake.  ##1800078##

Story
Lucy (golden) and Jezebel (doxie) are a bonded pair who need temporary foster care (until approximately June 2025) as their owner is currently in physcial rehabilitation after a stroke. They are not up for adoption, but do need a foster home. Copilot Animal Rescue will provide food and medical care for the dogs. A foster home will need to have all other pets fixed and a fenced yard. These are sweet girls who are dog friendly but will need the safety of a temporary foster home. Fosters must be in the North Texas/Southern Oklahoma area so the owner and rescue can visit.  ##2314386##
