Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Sooney came to Mutt Love from a rural shelter.  She responds best to the name “Suki”, which was her name along the way.  She is very responsive to training sessions with treats and shows confidence.  She is extremely high energy and enjoys being engaged. She loves dogs, doesn’t turn down invitations to play and plays hard.  She is responding positively to crate training.  Sooney/Suki is an escape artist, therefore a tall, solid fence is a must for her safety.  She vocalizes for attention and is a silly, bouncy girl who is well loved by her caretakers.  She would be best matched to an experienced family.  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org. Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Taco is super sweet, smart, gentle and could be trained as a personal service or therapy dog. He loves his toys, good on his leash, affectionate, and he loves being petted.  He’s active and playful, knows some commands and is the perfect buddy dog.  He’s confident and outgoing, but a gentle boy and he’s a nice size for urban living. Taco was surrendered with his two brothers, Tony, Tatum and sister, Tina. He is dog friendly, not aggressive at all, and not food aggressive. He is very athletic, and can leap high in the air from the ground, he could be taught to retrieve a ball or frisbe !  He loves adults and children, and will be a great family dog.  Taco is a black lab mix boy, about four years old and about 60 lbs, all black with white chest and toes, with a short-medium coat.  He is all vetted and ready for his new home.  Please email Dee at k9rescueva@gmail.com with any questions and to meet this sweet boy. Story
Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Meet Ebony, a young girl who loves love!  Ebony probably had some tough times and can be a little distrustful at first, but she is eager for affection and belonging and will warm up quickly to kind patient humans, and is happy to show you what an awesome and deserving girl she is!  Ebony loves a cozy couch or a soft bed, she also is very well behaved in her crate.  This girl is so agile and can run like the wind, she would certainly enjoy a fenced yard where she can race her doggie brother and do zoomies.  Ebony hasn't shown any aggressions and she is very well mannered when she has meals with her brother, she sits and waits for her turn and respects other diners.  She does love treats and responds well, and sits, she's mastered this command!  Ebony enjoys her daily walks, she doesn't pull and often needs to stand with her nose to the wind and 'read' her surroundings.  She is house trained, and will go to the door when she has to go out, she's been very good about this.  We think she has lab, maybe some hound, maybe some terrier because of her petite size and she has an underbite like a boxer.  She is 38 lbs and approximately 2 years old.  She's utd on all her vaccines, is spayed and hw negative.  Given her sweet nature she'd probably do well with all people but is cautious with men and will need a man or men in her life to be patient and give her a little space.  She does the sweetest thing....she sleeps in the bed and she is so good, she staysway over on her side, but in the morning when she is awake she'll scoot over and put her head on my hip softly and Ill just rub her head. She is very affectionate and sweet, I wish someone would come for her!  She just needs a person and a pal, and I bet her 'pal' could be a dog or a cat ! 'Ebony is a gem! Story
Winkle has a lot of energy and needs a fair amount of exercise. He is playful and enjoys active play. He loves to retrieve balls in the yard as well as chase squirrels. He is very sweet and loving. Winkle knows sit, stay, down, off and come. He also will sit patiently and give you each paw while you clean or dry his feat. He is housebroken and crate trained and does very well in his crate overnight. Winkle is apprehensive when new people first enter the home and needs a patient person who will work with him. He adjusts quickly after his initial barking reaction. He walks well on the leash but needs coaxing to get in the car and is making good progress. He needs to be in a quieter home without children or teens running around and a fenced yard to run around and play in. He is very patient with other dogs, and would do very well in a home with another active dog. He was in a home with cats and did very well. Thank you for your interest in Winkle! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=14932 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Winkle, or to submit an online application. Story
Wally is an affectionate and energetic pup who has been long searching for his furever family! His foster mom says that Wally is one of her absolute favorites after fostering dogs for over 10 years. That's because this boy is full of personality and sure to put a smile on your face. Some of Wally's favorite things to do are curl up next to his people and chill, and the other is playtime. Wally takes a few days to warm up to new dogs but once he does, he is all about romping around with his canine companions. He currently lives in foster with 4 other dogs, both large and small. Surprisingly his boss is a 10-pound Chi mix. He is housetrained, crate trained, and an all-around good boy in the home. His leash manners are a work in progress, and he can be a little quirky at times (like the time he was scared of the Halloween ghost decoration at the vet's office), but this just adds to his unique Wally-ness. Wally is best suited in an experienced home that can provide him with structure, and one where he can bond over training techniques and help him understand that silly things like ghost decorations aren't scarry. He is ready to give and receive lots and lots of unconditional love. Apply to adopt Wally! Thank you for your interest in Wally! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=16607 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Wally, or to submit an online application. KNOWN WITH DOGS: Ollie is playful and friendly though does get VERY enthusiastic with new friends. It can overwhelm some dogs, but he is great when matched with the right playmate. He would love a big-playstyle female dog his size, if you already have someone at home looking for a new canine companion. KNOWN WITH CATS: We do know how Ollie is with cats but can see how he might do if that is helpful. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Ollie is not recommended for a family with children. KNOWN CUES: Sit. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Ollie is house-trained and is comfortable hanging out in his crate though he prefers not to be closed inside KNOWN LIKES: Treats. Exercise. Mental and physical exercise. Dogs of all sizes. People of all ages. Treats. Treats. Treats. KNOWN DISLIKES: Being left alone. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Ollie is looking for an adult-only home where he can love on his new human parents to his heart's content!! He LOVES to be with people and can sometimes get a little overwhelmed and has been known to nip in these situations, so while he is GREAT with kids we do not recommend him going to a home with small children. Ollie has a rough and tumble playstyle and prefers his canine companions match that style. He's not great at receiving cues from other pups, so needs the more forgiving sort to partner with. He does well on walks, and would love an active lifestyle with lots of activity and hiking. Ollie does not like being left alone. The crate is not his favorite place, and he would prefer a home where his humans don't have to leave him for long periods of time. Our team can talk to you more about working with Ollie and helping him feel comfortable when his humans are away. Make all of Ollie's dreams come true - stop by to meet him this weekend! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and email any questions to: Alana2373@yahoo.com We will follow up with you and connect you to her foster! PLEASE VISIT THIS WEBSITE TO FIND THE ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE: http://www.homewardtrails.org/adopt-a-pet/adoption-forms/ LOCATION: An amazing Foster home in Northern VA ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Alana, Alana2373@yahoo.com ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 50 lbs ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Chewy is high energy and loves her walks. In the morning and evening, she enjoys an initial short walk with her foster brother followed by a longer (and much faster) walk solo. She loves all the intriguing scents she picks up while walking and enjoys meeting most other dogs. She would be happiest in a home with a fenced yard and another dog for a playmate. She spends much of the day outside in a fenced yard and has not attempted to escape, she knows stay and follows commands. She has calmed down significantly in foster care. She does great around cats, mostly just ignores them. Chewy is highly intelligent and food motivated so additional training should be relatively easy. She's very affectionate and doesn't engage in resource guarding of any kind. She likes to be near her people but seems okay when left alone for a few hours at a time. Sheloves to ride in the car. ADOPTION FEE: $475. This fee INCLUDES spay/neuter and microchip. **Ask me about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, training and other discounts! KNOWN WITH DOGS: Chewy enjoys meeting other dogs and is usually friendly with them although she has shown some reactivity to some dogs. She's happy to engage in on-leash play if she has a willing partner. She is attuned to her elderly foster sister and realizes she needs to adjust her play style with her. KNOWN WITH CATS: Chewy has met several cats since being in her foster home. She has ignored them, and does not engage with the cats at all. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Chewy has met a number of children on her walks and is happy to let them pet her. She would do fine in a home with children although her energy level might be too much for very young ones. KNOWN COMMANDS: Chewy knows sit, 'stay', 'come', 'leave it', and 'off'. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Chewy will stay very quietly in her crate and retreats to it during scary situations such as thunderstorms. As long as she is walked before bedtime, she will make it through the night without an accident. KNOWN LIKES: Chewy has a lot of energy and loves to run (zoomies are one of her specialties), fetch tennis balls and chew on sticks. She loves going on walks and meeting other dogs. She's very intelligent and appears to enjoy learning new commands, especially when she's rewarded with kibble treats. Peanut butter is her favorite. KNOWN DISLIKES: Loud noises and/or large vehicles like motorcycles, buses, construction equipment, garbage trucks, thunder, marching bands and fireworks are still quite frightening for her. Story
A woman found herself with a big surprise, when 10 sweet puppies magically appeared in her yard one Sunday. Now, these precious pups are looking for their forever homes after spending some time in a crowded shelter. Coco attended a child's birthday party with her siblins and she was the belle of the ball. She was very tolerant of all the little hands that picked her up and played with her. She enjoys toys and has learned to sit for a treat in just a few minutes. This intelligent, lovable girl would do well as a solo pup or part of a pack. She will make a great forever friend.Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org March 12, 2025, 7:40 am
