Story
Meet Zu! Just like Vanilla and Nucita (both currently in foster in VB), Zu has a special story.  Like so many pets in PR, Zu was abandoned to live on the streets.  When our rescuer was first called to her aid, she was initially asked to do a TNR, (trap, neuter, release) but discovered Zu already had a sterilization tattoo. After getting her vaccinated, she was returned to the street where she was being fed on a rescuer’s feeding route.  Black dogs are particularly difficult to place so life on the streets was all she was offered. However, she ended up at a school. (Many dogs are abandoned at schools as the children eat outside in open courtyards and people assume the dogs will be fed and loved there.  School Administration is left to deal with the problems.)  Last summer our rescuer was called to the school due to issues with some dogs, and that’s when she found Zu again, but this time very skinny and deteriorated so she rescued her for good. She was given Bordetella, she tested negative on both 4DX and fecal tests, and has been in foster in PR ever since.  Fast forward a year, and our rescuer is very hopeful Zu can find a loving home in the States and free up a spot for her to rescue more.  The vet estimates Zu to be 3-4 years old. Zu is wonderful with other dogs, kids, and even cats (though she tends to chase them at first). Zu weighs only 28 lbs.  She is good on a leash and submissive to others.  Please put in an application to foster or adopt Zu so we can promise to fly her on the next transport August 22nd. Adoption fee $395 Complete one of our online adoption applications today! Story
Meet Evan! Evan is still in Puerto Rico, though his littermate was adopted as a puppy back in March 2022. When Evan first came into rescue as a puppy, he had a broken femur, so we gave him time to heal before planning his flight. During his recovery, he stayed with a friend of the rescue who boards dogs, and he made such a great impression that they loved having him around—he became the perfect greeter for all the dogs arriving! Now, it’s time for Evan to find his own loving home. He’s known to be a total couch potato and adores everyone he meets. Evan has also been a great friend and coach to many of the dogs we’ve adopted out the past 2 years, helping them with their social skills along the way. If you’re interested in fostering or adopting Evan, please submit an application. This sweet boy deserves a family of his own.   Evan is a laid back island boy who has been waiting for his turn to find a forever home in the US.  He is good with other dogs, children and doesn't bother cats.  He is 2 years old, 50 lbs, neutered and current on vaccines.  His chill, laid back island vibe would be a perfect addition to your pack...or better yet start a pack!  Evan is a handsome black lab mix ready to hit trails or chill by your side.  If he sounds like the dog for you, please complete our application today. Adoption fee is being sponsored, all he needs is his forever home now! Complete one of our online adoption applications today! This handsome man is Scrabble! Scrabble was adopted from the NSPCA as a puppy and was recently returned due to some dog reactive behavior. Scrabble is a very sweet and loving young man who enjoys having a human companion not too far at all times. Scrabble would enjoy a home where he is the only animal as he likes all the attention on him. Scrabble does like to choose his canine friends wisely. He prefers a more laid back dog like himself. Scrabble is looking for a home that can put in a little work and give him lots of love. If you are looking for a sweet and loving companion Scrabble might be the one for you! Come see Scrabble and his friends today!
