Story
Meet Violet, a loving and gentle momma dog who came to HBWI after all her puppies found wonderful homes. Now it's Violet's turn to find her forever family! Violet is an affectionate and playful girl who adores being around people. She gets along wonderfully with kids of all ages, having spent time with both young children and older ones. She's great in her crate, housebroken, and knows to chew only on her toys. Naturally quiet, Violet sleeps through the night in her crate without a peep. She currently lives with a cat and likes to sit back and observe it. She hasn't shown a prey drive... other than with bugs! Initially high-energy upon her arrival to WI, Violet has since settled down and proven to be a calm, well-behaved dog. She knows basic commands like "sit" and "down," and her high food motivation makes her eager to please. She was a jumper when she got here, but we think those days are behind her!! Violet is amazing on a leash and is a true "loose leash walker." She has great recall and even knows how to play fetch! Violet is ready to share her love and bring joy to a new family. Could you be the perfect match for this amazing dog? FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping. For dogs under 6 months, they receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and microchipping. All dogs are spayed/neutered by 6 months, covered within the adoption fee. The procedure must be done at one of our partner clinics. To begin the adoption process, please submit an application on our website: www.hbwi.org/adopt. Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet our available dogs. Following the meeting, you can initiate a 5-day Adoption Trial, allowing you to take the dog home. This trial period is designed to ensure the dog is a match for you and aligns with your lifestyle. After the 5-day trial, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Additionally, we require a home visit once the dog is settled in its new home to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the adopter.

Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs by 6 months of age. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months of age, they will need to be spayed/neutered at one of our preferred clinics. Story
Intake Reason: Transferred from MADACCWeight: 65# Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Unknown ·Kids: UnknownPersonality: I am a very energetic dogHi, my name is Butch; I am a happy, fun-loving dude in search of a new home. I was a stray at MADACC (Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission) and was super excited to be transferred to WCHS to find my new family because I love an adventure. I am a friendly and playful guy, maybe a little too friendly; sometimes when I greet a person, I jump up on them to say a great big ‘hi'. Perhaps we could take some classes together so I can practice manners and learn to keep four on the floor. We could even turn my tendency to hug into an adorable trick so that if someone wants a furry embrace, I could give them one on cue but only if I am asked. I am a smart boy and I like to learn and keep my brain busy so it would be lovely to try new activities and games. I already know the cues for ‘sit', ‘down' and ‘shake/paw' and think it would be fun to learn more human words from you; I would do well with patient and positive training techniques. I have lots of energy and would love to have a job or two; maybe we can participate in rally, canine sports or dog parkour or I could carry a backpack while we go hiking. I typically walk politely on leash without a lot of pulling or craziness unless you happen to miss a wonderful smell that is just out of nose-reach; then I will pull a bit to investigate. When I am out walking my tail is mostly is a constant state of wag to communicate my joy. I will need plenty of physical and mental exercise each day to be at my best. I am sweet and affectionate and think tender scratches and cuddles are fantastic; I would love a snuggle session at the end of a day filled with fun. I promise to be loyal forever and would be honored to be your constant companion and BFF. Stop by to meet me in person and discover my gigantic heart and personality for yourself.#2

Story
Bristol is a 1-year-old, 44-pound, lab mix. She is super sweet & loves affection, especially belly rubs. Bristol was found as a stray on the streets of Texas & was in a shutdown state when she arrived at the Texas shelter. After about a week, her true self came out & she loved playing with the other dogs. She likes tug toys & squeakers. She will need someone patient enough to let her slowly come out of her shell. She would be too scared of small, unpredictable children & would love a home with another medium energy dog to play with.DATCP#483538

Story
My name is Arvin & my toxic trait is thinking I’m a lap dog even though I currently weigh 59 pounds. If you love cuddling & think personal space is optional, I’m your guy! It’s guessed that I’m about 5 years old & a lab mix. I had a rough start when I got to WI, but, after a few vet visits, it was determined I have hypothyroidism. I’ve started daily medication, I’m feeling better every day, & Mom says my extra weight is melting off!My future family will need to make sure I stick to my diet & get plenty of exercise, so I can get to a healthy weight, which, for me, is about 50 pounds. They’ll also need to be able to manage my twice daily medication & understand I will most likely be on it for the rest of my life. But, don’t worry! Hypothyroidism is easily managed with medication & doesn’t have an impact on how long I’ll live.I’m potty trained on a schedule & working on my crate training - I don’t love it in there, but I’m a very good boy & usually free roam in my foster home. I get along just fine with dogs & I love kids. Cats are unknown, but as long as they don’t bother me, I’m sure I’ll be fine.Think you’re ready for some serious snuggling? Get your application in to talk with my foster mom!DATCP#483538
