My name is GRUMPY and I’m a 5y M Tan Shih Tzu X. I’m 15 lbs of PURE SWEET GROUCHINESS. I was brought to a police precinct in the Bronx, NY and luckily the rescue was able to save me before I was taken to the shelter. I was affectionately named Grumpy because I was not immediately warm and fuzzy with the foster mom and growled at her a lot… but once I got to know her and she went slow with me to introduce me to her household… I trusted her and she can do anything to me now. I’m a little guarded with strangers and rightly so because I was pretty much neglected by my previous family. I’m housebroken and walk well on the leash and I can be picked up and handled as long as you slow. I’m a nice guy but nervous at first so I need someone who is going to be patient and believe in me and give me the TLC I need. I’m good with small dogs but am afraid of big dogs and will snap/snark at them. I’ve not met any cats so not sure about them and best if I don’t go with any young kids. I prefer to be the ONLY DOG so I can get all the attention that I never got in my previous home. My only other vice is that it’s not easy to groom me.. I’m nervous around objects coming to my face so I need to go to an experienced groomer but I was fine being handled by the vet. I need a QUIET ADULT ONLY home with someone or a couple that are home a lot and have had previous experience with a “grumpy” dog and are willing to give me the TLC and believe in me to make me the SWEET AND LOVING dog I know I can be!! He’s a little man who would much rather investigate new places with his nose than hop onto a lap for cuddles. Cautious of overly handsy humans, a family willing to respect his space, allowing himself to get comfy on his own timeline would really help this boy shine! If you’re in the market for a low-key, low-maintenance grandpa dog, Bruno is in the market for a nice, quiet retirement home to enjoy his much-deserved retirement. This 12-year old, 19-pound Maltese mix doesn’t have the greatest eyesight or hearing anymore, but his sweetness and cuteness more than make up for it. Bruno is fully housebroken and well-mannered on a leash. While he doesn’t like loud city noises or the sound of honking horns, he does like sniffing around outside and breathing in the fresh air, particularly during less crowded times. He’s absolutely lovely around respectful humans and chill dogs, but he’d would probably do better in a home without boisterous children. A huge fan of treats, Bruno gobbles up goodies like a vacuum cleaner…and that’s with only one tooth in his mouth! Bruno gets super stoked at mealtime and has a very healthy appetite for a little old fella. Bruno is very affectionate, but it has to be on his terms. He will let you know when he wants to some lovin’, and then you can pet him, scratch him, massage him, and gently cuddle up to him. Being a petite pooch, Bruno does not like being picked up, but he does well in a pet carrier…you just might have to entice him with a few treats to get him to go in. Same trick applies when it’s time for his eye drops. Hey, he’s not stupid! ;-) Bruno’s true personality is still emerging, but with each passing day, he is getting goofier and becoming more playful, curious, relaxed, and loving. This dude just needs a kind human to give him the time and patience he deserves to start living his best life: A special dog for a special person. ❗Current location: hopping around among the temporary foster homes in South Korea❗ NewJeans was rescued from a high-kill shelter in South Korea in July 2024. She was found on the street and appeared to have undergone a devocalization surgery. Additionally, she was missing a nail on her front left paw. Upon joining our rescue team, it was discovered that she had a hernia, which required urgent surgery. This brave girl came through the operation wonderfully and healed incredibly well. She is now thriving in a loving foster home with two other dog friends! • Personality: Resilient, Affectionate, Friendly Despite the hardships she faced before joining our team, NewJeans remains full of love and affection! She adores people, regardless of gender (her favorite human is her foster dad!), and enjoys following her foster family around every day, being a velcro dog on their laps, and playfully stealing toys from her foster sister. Her energy level is moderate, and she is younger at heart than her age suggests! • Affinity with - Dogs: Very good - Cats: Not tested - Adults/Kids: Super friendly with adults including men / Not tested for kids • Walking Manners: Generally good on leash • Housetrained: Fully housebroken, going potty both outdoors and indoors (pee-pads) • Bathing/Brushing: Tolerates both well • Separation Anxiety: None • Barks/Howls: She does bark often, but as stated above, she seems to have gone through devocalization surgery, resulting in zero voice from her barks. • Car Sickness: None • Appetite/Food Allergies: No food allergies • Shedding level (1~10): 1-2 • Likes/Dislikes: She loves squeaky toys, walks, and snuggles! • Note: One of her left front toes is missing. ⚠️During her medical screening, we discovered a few health issues: a mild heart condition (stage A and B1), a kidney stone on the left side, a small benign tumor in her urinary tract, and some joint stiffness. HOWEVER, the vet has determined that these symptoms are related to her age and size, and she does not require any medication or surgery at this stage. She just needs regular monitoring, and it’s recommended to avoid feeding her calcium. Her blood test results were clear, and overall, she is in good health!

Rosie is likely a Maltese/Poodle mix and at 2 1/2 years old, is a complete cuddle bug who loves every bit of attention she receives from humans and dogs alike. Yoda is about 1 year old and what a fun and playful little guy he is. He is likely a Shih Tzu and just loves to play and also enjoys all the attention he gets from his family. They are both learning to walk on a leash and becoming housebroken. They get along very well with dogs of all sizes. We are looking for one family that will love both of these dogs so they can remain together.
