According to his previous owner, Smokey is a purebred Plott Hound, and his striking brindle coat and soft, floppy ears certainly speak to his hound heritage.Smokey found his way to our rescue partner after repeatedly running loose and, eventually, his previous owners did not reclaim him. True to his hound nature, he’s full of energy and curiosity, but with an extra dose of affection that makes him irresistible. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion with the sweetest temperament and a zest for life, Smokey is ready to join your family. Story
This boy was part of a neglect/ hoarding case. He is very friendly… with everything! He likes people, kids, either dogs…..not sure on cats but we’re sure he would do well. He has a wonderful personality, he does not need to be in charge. He does well with other dogs and is good on a leash. He loved everyone at an adoption event, he does not meet a stranger!! He is a super good boy who is ready to finally find a home of his own. He will need housetraining but we think he does have some training already. He listens well, just needs some work on manners. He does jump when excited so beware smaller kids. He would do well with a yard or plenty of exercise. An active family would be best as he does not like to sit still when around people, he’s just too excited and happy. He is ready to find his own energetic family.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mika arrived from Puerto Rico with her travel companions, and we are delighted to have this bundle of happiness.   Mika is a Sato dog which is a street or beach dog from Puerto Rico. The Sato refers to a variety of small to medium-sized stray dog. Satos are similar in appearance to small Pointers or Terriers. These free-ranging dogs are known to make excellent family pets. Unlike other feral dogs, the Satos have a small territory, and many are always in contact with people.  Mika was referred to as a Labrador/Plott Hound mix by the veterinarians who vetted her in Puerto Rico. Whatever she is, she sure is sweet. Mika is described by the folks who cared for her at Punta Santiago who rescued her as "amazing with dogs of all sizes, super people friendly, and having no food aggression." She is very happy and friendly and will make a perfect lap dog for some lucky family. Mika is approximately a year old and cat tolerant with supervision. We are looking for an adoptive family or foster home. Mika's adoption fee is $500.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 14, 2024, 1:50 pm

Story
Meet Banjo! Banjo is a 5 year old Plott Hound mix weighing about 65 pounds. He is a beautiful boy with his brindle coat and white chest and markings and he has the most expressive face. Banjo is a sweetheart and a fragile soul that likes to be told he is a good boy and he just wants to please. Banjo loves to be active and is a high energy dog. He enjoys walks, hikes, car rides, and playing. Most of all, Banjo enjoys cuddling with his people on the couch. Banjo struggles with confidence and anxiety issues, but has been working on these things with a trainer and will do wonderfully in the right home while continuing his hard work and with an adopter that is knowledgeable with anxious dogs. Banjo is reactive to new situations and he is learning to come out of his shell and be more engaged in the world and not so selective and nervous around strangers. Banjo is also very food motivated! Banjo is well versed in obedience training and knows sit, crawl, down, stay, bed, speak, and roll over. He is muzzle trained, house trained, crate trained, and walks well on a leash. Banjo will not chew on bones or play with toys and his fosters are working on getting him to learn what toys are. Banjo would be best in a home with a single person or couple. Banjo gets along with other dogs when introduced slowly, he will play with them, and could do well in a home with multiple dogs but needs the proper iand slow introduction with an experinced dog owner. Banjo would prefer a home with no children and likes women more than men. Banjo requires a fenced in yard and an active adopter. If you are interested in adopting Banjo, please go to our website at charliescrusaders.org and fill out our adoption application.  ##386437##
