Story
07/24/24 23:46Dog Day Out notes from last week:Today I: got to go for a drive and a sniffy walk! I was excited to get going and hopped in and out of the car all on my own. I’m a very good girl in the car, sitting calmly in the back, and I like putting my head out the window. I love to sniff and take my time making sure I don’t miss any smells. I’m a friendly girl and I want to say hi to all the people and other dogs on the trail. Then we went to Pet Smart where there were so many new and exciting smells. Finally, I got a pup cup, I wasn’t sure about it at first but decided it wasn’t too bad in the end.Three Words to Describe Me are: sweet, polite, friendly Notes from My Walker: Maya is a sweet and wiggly girl. She is happy to meet you and go out. She hops in the car on her own and is very well behaved in the car. She sits politely in the back and likes to put her head out the window. She is a sniffy girl and likes to take time to smell all the smells. She is a strong girl and can pull a little but overall is pretty good on the leash – it helps that she stops/slows often to sniff. She is very friendly and is interested in people walking by and really wants to say hi to other dogs walking by. No barking or lunging just pulls to greet them. Didn’t seem particularly interested in the critters we saw such as geese and squirrels. Knows sit but not treat motivated, refused all treats I offered. Even the pup cup took some coaxing before she decided to give it a go (and ultimately decided she liked it). Likes pet and leans in for ear scratches.

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:19Meet Donna, our sweet Rottweiler momma who’s ready to find her forever home! 3 years old and 78 pounds, Donna has just finished caring for her adorable puppies, and now it's her turn to shine. She’s easy to handle, and her gentle nature is a breath of fresh air. Donna is a loving companion in the making. She’s a pro on a leash, enjoying leisurely strolls through the play yards, and she's a fan of treats, side sits, and those irresistible chin scritches. She's an independent soul with a calm demeanor and a medium/low energy level. She would do well with other dogs if they’re a good match or could thrive as a solo dog with her own circle of dog friends. Could you be the one to give Donna the forever home she deserves? She’s ready to offer you her heart!August 20, 2024, 2:35 pm

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700   Rambo is a 1 year old Doberman looking for his happily ever after with his lucky forever home! Rambo was taken in by one of our fosters after her neighbor needed Rambo to find a new home. No fault of his own, he is the best boy! Unfortunately people don’t always plan ahead when they buy dogs… but we promised Rambo his next home would be over the moon to have him! Rambo is a gorgeous boy who will delight any Doberman lover. He lives in a Dobie-loving foster home and is having the time of his life.    If you googled “perfect Doberman”, Rambo would pop right up on a Google “I’m Feeling Lucky” search! He is so sweet, friendly, and good-natured. He is loyal to a fault and adores his foster family, trotting after them through the house. He can keep himself occupied with toys for hours as long as he can chill in the same room as you. Rambo is also a star in the making and loves to sing along with the radio. Nashville, here he comes! Rambo loves his toys, from tennis balls to plush toys. He would love a home ready to hit the trails or road trip to the beach, but can also just as easily snuggle in for a movie marathon. Basically he is up for anything as long as he can do it by your side! Rambo loves hopping in the car and will perk up his ears when he hears the jingle of his leash. He is so loving and loves hanging out with his people. He will be the star of any party or gathering he arrives at. Basically, he is an All Star pup in the perfect Doberman sized package. What more could you ask for? We don’t know!  Rambo starts his morning with a long cuddle session before he goes outside for a potty break. He eats three times a day: 8 AM, 1 PM, and 5 PM. He has free access to the outdoors and he loves his backyard, as well as his human and canine foster siblings. He gets two walks a day, weather permitting, and trots alongside his foster brother. Rambo spends his days playing with toys, showing off his zoomies, getting cuddles, and exploring the world around him. When his foster family finishes work for the day, he gets a long snuggle session. His evenings are spent playing with his toys in the living room before he settles for some TV time. After one last trip outside before bed, he settles in for the night around 10 PM.  Rambo lives with an older Doberman and gets along fabulously with him, while still being respectful of his space. He has lived with cats and was well-mannered with them. His former home had kids and he adored them. He is still learning his size so some additional training would be beneficial for him (he is a world class counter surfer at dinner time). His leash skills are a work in progress, as he is just SO happy to check out the world. Rambo can’t wait to find his forever home and get his amazing life started!     Rambo is only an option for homes who have owned a dog previously. We will prioritize homes with large breed experience. Kids in the homes should be over the age of 10. August 19, 2024, 11:40 pm

Our adoption fees vary. June was surrendered to our rescue when her former home was moving and didn’t have space for her in the new home. Well, we promised to find her a new family with a June-shaped hole in their heart and give her the best second chance ever! June weighs around 30 pounds. June is not a true hypoallergenic dog, her foster has noticed some light shedding. She will require grooming to ensure her coat remains fabulous! If you’re ready for a forever taste of summer, bring joyful June home!      June is the happiest dog in the world and wants to make sure you know it! Her tail never stops wagging and she is just a super sunny gal. If she was a human, she’d be the coworker who always made the day great. She will cuddle you for hours but can also keep herself occupied with either a toy or a long nap on the floor. June is the perfect blend of energy. She loves her walks and jumps for joy when the leash comes out, but can also hang out in the house and keep you company during the workday. June would be a fabulous addition to any household prepared for an amazing new buddy. She is a favorite of her foster mom which is a huge compliment from one of our best long time foster homes! She is just so happy and her tail never stops wagging.  June starts her morning around 7 AM when her foster family gets up. She says hello to everyone and checks out the house to see what happened when she was asleep. She gets her breakfast and then heads out for her morning walk, which she loves. When she returns home, she settles in for her afternoon snooze. She likes to know where her human housemates are and greets everyone as they come home from school and work. In the evening, she has her dinner and then partakes in some backyard zoomies with her foster brother. Once she is ready for bed, she goes potty one more time and then heads to her crate for a night of snoozing! June lives with a large doodle who loves playing. She loves watching his silliness. She also loves her human foster siblings and would enjoy a home full of love. She walks well on a leash and greets her fellow canines politely when they cross paths. She is housetrained and crate trained. June can’t wait to make you fall in love with her and join your home!      June is an option for any home with previous dog owning experience. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7.August 19, 2024, 11:40 pm
