Meet Slate! Slate is a sweet and gentle 4-5-year-old pup who’s ready to find his forever family. This soft and snuggly boy loves affection and thrives on being close to his people. If you stop petting him, he might nudge your hand to remind you he’s ready for more love! Slate is happiest cuddled next to you on the couch or simply hanging out in the same room to keep you company. He has a playful side too and enjoys playing with toys. His excitement to see you is contagious—his giddy energy will brighten your day! Slate is polite when taking treats and goes potty outside but may need a little reinforcement as he continues to adjust to his new routine. He has even used a wee-wee pad once when needed. He’s great with kids, men, women, and is curious about other dogs. If you’re looking for a loving companion who will bring warmth and joy into your home, Slate is the perfect fit! With his sweet personality and soft coat, he’s impossible to resist. Apply to meet Slate today—he can’t wait to be part of your family!

Story
Meet Bobby!Breed Guess: Shih Tzu/Chihuahua.                                       Age: Young Adult....1-2 years old.                                 Weight: 11.2lb...he is a perfect, petite, and  handsome boy Other Animals: Bobby is great with other dogs of all ages and sizes and will play very respectfully with them. He tolerates cats so this can be evaluated on a case by case basis.Kids: Seems comfortable with the respectful kids he has met but is still learning about how they work.House training: Working on it but progressing well and will improve further now that he is neutered.Exercise needs: Bobby has a great energy level but will settle when he is home with his human. He LOVES playing with other dogs so we would prefer a home where he has opportunities to do that and/or a dog sibling or two. He likes a reasonably long walk or fenced in area to adventure per day. What he's great at: Being respectful in the home, walking on leash, traveling in the car, learning, and cuddling! What he's working on: House training, not barking at humans, and not being vocal on a walk.Personality: Bobby is upbeat, fun, sweet, & a cuddle bug.  He loves to cozy up next to his human on the couch!Bobby's Story: His original humans ended their relationship and his new mom found that she and her young son were not the best fit for him.Dream Home: A house with a fenced in yard. Another dog sibling to play and share adventures. Older respectful children will be considered in the right home. An adult that has flexible work hours or would consider dog daycare or play dates weekly. ##2261941##

Shih Tzu Lhasa Apso

Story
Paisley’s Backstory: Paisley was taken into an overcrowded animal control facility where they euthanize due to lack of space. Animal Saints Rescue Society was asked to get her out safely to give her a second chance at life. Paisley was loved by someone at some point in life, but she was left as a stray and found neglected. She had never been spayed. Breed and Hair Notes: Paisley has hair and not fur. She is a beautiful blend of Shih Tzu and possibly Lhasa Apso. Perhaps another breed is represented as well? Whatever the blend, she is a Saint. She has a beautiful blend of brown and white hair. She has been shaved, but it is already starting to grow out into a lovely fluff. She will have gorgeous long hair if you want it to grow out. PLEASE NOTE: Paisley’s hair will grow indefinitely, and she will need professional grooming every 4-6 weeks. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost that these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care. Get to Know Paisley: Age: 2 Weight: 18.5 pounds Spayed: yes Current Vaccines and Tests: Rabies vaccine: yes Distemper vaccine: yes Bordetella vaccine: yes Flea and tick prevention: yes Heartworm test: yes, negative De-wormer treatment: yes Personality: Paisley is all love. All she’d like to do is cuddle up in your lap and fall asleep on her back. She’s so eager to stay in a person’s lap that she’ll wrap her front legs around your arm and won’t let go. It seems she is trying to make up for lost time, so eager to love and be loved. Even though she loves being hugged and cuddled, she has youthful energy and a love for life! She loves to run about in the garden, and we can see her being an excellent walking companion. Potty routine: Paisley is great about going on potty pads indoors at the sanctuary. She also goes outside whenever we take her out. To get her settled into your routine and direction for where to go potty, you’ll need to keep her in a designated place with potty pads initially or take her out every hour initially if you just want her to potty outside. This will reinforce where you want her to go. Personality: Paisley is so full of love and life. She greets every human with a tail wag, and she wants to interact with everyone. She is not afraid of any volunteer so far and will approach all humans who show her kindness and respect. She is sweet, loving, and so easy to hug. TO VIEW A VIDEO OF PAISLEY, VISIT OUR VIMEO PAGE: https://vimeo.com/1043788700?share=copy What Paisley needs in her lifetime family. Is it you? Routine and Training Paisley’s goal in life is to be by her person’s side during the day and sleep next to them at night. With this in mind, we know she will be happiest in a home where her people are there most of the time. Paisley is the kind of girl who would enjoy coming along with you as you run errands, too. If you’re looking for a sidekick in all things, she’s up for it! Paisley would be okay as an only dog in a home, provided she could meet dog friends nearby often. However, we see Paisley love the company of other dogs, and she plays and wrestles a lot with the other younger fosters here in our sanctuary. If you need to be gone for a few hours every day, having other respectful dogs who like to play in the home would be great for her. Love and Commitment At Animal Saints Rescue Society, our goal is to keep dogs out of overcapacity animal control facilities and out of a re-homing cycle. We place the dogs we save into lifetime families. With this in mind, we seek families who understand that an adoption is a lifetime commitment. The families who adopt from us believe that love is not a feeling, it is a decision. Some humans still believe it’s okay to try out a dog for a few weeks, a few months, or even a few years — then discard when they get bored or don’t want to deal with emotional or physical ailments. We are looking for the empathetic, kind, and patient humans in this world who view these Animal Saints as family, and they will do whatever it takes to give them what they need. Will that family be you? We look forward to finding out and receiving your application! Requested adoption donation fee is a minimum of $650. This is to partly cover her medical expenses that our 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue incurred to give her a second chance at life.
