Story
If the listing is still up, this means his is still available for adoption as we look to find an ideal lifetime home for him. We welcome you to apply! Samuel Albert’s Backstory: Samuel Albert was dropped off at an overcapacity animal control facility. Our rescue was asked to help, and we pulled him to safety to give him the second chance he deserves! Get to Know Samuel Albert: Have you ever met a dog who makes your heart melt with love and empathy for them? This was how we reacted to Samuel Albert when we first met him. We were greeted with a hug and a kiss on the cheek while we carried him around in the garden. Samuel is a sweet and sensitive soul who takes everything in stride. We can tell he’s been and seen a LOT. Yet, he’s so ready to love and receive attention. His blend of breeds is stunning and one-of-a-kind. We have asked veterinarians what they see, and everyone see something a little different. Shih Tzu, Lhasa Apso, Havanese, Affenpinscher, Terrier... what do you see? If you only see love at first sight, then you need to apply because this dear boy could be the match you're looking for! PLEASE NOTE: his hair will grow indefinitely, and he will need professional grooming every 4-6 weeks. Only apply if you understand the additional maintenance and cost that these dear hair-not-fur souls need and are willing to commit to life for such care. Age: approximately 7-9 Weight: 13.5 Neutered: yes Heartworm: negative Fecal exam: negative Bloodwork: normal range with very slight elevations in a couple of numbers, most likely due to being dehydrated upon arrival to hospital. This can be viewed upon request. Flea and tick treatment: yes Vaccines: rabies, distemper, bordetella Dental: yes — cleaning and tooth extractions Potty training — working on it and doing well During his complete wellness exam, our veterinarian detected a slight heart murmur at 1-2 out of 6. But she said he’s doing so well that no medication was prescribed. Samuel Albert has limited vision. He can still see, but it's not in normal range. He needs to be given a heads-up when approached with the sweetness of your voice as he sometimes does not see in certain light. It does not stop him from loving life and wanting to explore. With this in mind, a quieter home without young children is ideal for him. Samuel is slowly coming out of his shell after the trauma of being dropped off at a chaotic animal control facility with large barking dogs. Everyone who has gotten to know him says he’s very sweet. You need to let him approach you, and then he will trust. Ideal Home: Sammy gets along with most small dogs and cats. He’s met several and gets along with calmer and quiet dogs. He is not an alpha dog. In a group, he backs away and lets the more enthusiastic ones take center stage. He waits for interaction. His foster home says he’s a wonder in that way! Please keep in mind he does not care for puppy energy or children energy. It frightens him. Because of his gentleness, a quieter home is ideal. He wants attention from humans and needs it. Only a home with older children is ideal. Family who is home most of the time is ideal as Samuel Albert would very much like to be around trustworthy humans. If you plan to put Samuel in a crate, please do not apply. He needs the space and ability to be around his people! Does the gentleness and soulfulness of Samuel draw you in? It does us, too. This is why it’s such an honor to find him a permanent home, one that is committed to giving him a lifetime of love.

I got Grace around eight years ago as a nine week old puppy from a craigslist ad. My family life changed quite a bit and I had to go back to work. Grace loves being around people and we just dont have the time that she deserves. Grace can be anxious at times and a bit clingy. She has nipped When she is startled or stressed . She just wants to be with people. She loves going outside. She loves car rides and walks on the leash . My wish is for her to be in a home that people are home more that I am to pay her the attention that she deserves .

Story
Hello, my name is Sheila Rose, and I'm a gentle 7 year old Shih Tzu weighing 11 pounds and I have a heart full of love to give. My early years were tough, as I was confined to a puppy mill and lived in a shed without any air conditioning. It was so hot that the farmer had to shave me down just to keep me comfortable. Despite this rough beginning, I'm ready to leave my past behind and find a forever home where I can feel safe and cherished. I'm a little nervous when it comes to walking on a leash, but I'm making progress every day. I love being held and find great comfort in the arms of someone who cares. I'm a quiet girl who enjoys being pet and will happily sit by your side for hours, soaking up all the affection you can give. I get along wonderfully with other dogs too. The rescue is scheduling my spay so I’ll be all set to be with my forever family. All I need now is a patient and loving person who understands my past and is willing to help me continue to grow. Let's start this new chapter together, and I will be forever grateful to have found someone who truly cares! Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Story
Please meet Timmy Please share this post. This handsome boy came to us from our rescue partners in Kentucky. Timmy was known by the locals as the dog "who always laid in the middle of the road". His short life is a sad one in my opinion. He is had no medical care before coming into rescue. He is blind in his one eye and he has dry eyes which will require meds the rest of his life. He had no exposure to grooming or the vet and both of those are not happy places for him. He is now allowing Grace to touch his feet and also allowing her to cut hair from around his eyes. He needs to trust his people as it shows he most likely wasn't treated all that kind in his 2 years of life. He also had half his hair missing from flea bites and itching. We have a mousse we put on him daily and it's helping! Things Timmy hates: The vet and groomer - He will need to be medicated for both places. This is what Grace has said about him: Timmy is a sweet boy that is just now finding out what it’s like to have a home so he’s not fully housebroken yet. He is almost there but will use a pee pad if he has accidents in the house. He is good in the car and on leash. He likes to either sleep by his person or in a dog bed in the bedroom. Timmy has become a pretty affectionate dog and definitely wouldn’t mind becoming a part time lap dog. He gets along great with the other small dogs in his foster home. He is 2 years old 20 pounds Shitzu mix He will come with a supply of mousse and dry eye medicine as well the other items we give in our pups goodie bag. Fostered in Kingston with many small dogs. Big dogs are unknown and so are cats. https://www.jotform.com/form/221695001050139
