Story
Beatrice just turned three, and we were curious to learn about her breed mix. Here’s what we discovered: 66% Treeing Walker Coonhound 10% Plott Hound 4% Redbone Coonhound 3% Bluetick Coonhound 2% American Foxhound You can check out more details about her breed mix here: Beatrice's Wisdom Panel . Now, let me tell you why Beatrice is so special. She is a sweet, loving, and smart girl who adores people and other dogs. Whenever she sees a new face—human or canine—her tail wags with excitement. She’s incredibly social and loves to make new friends. However, Beatrice does have a high prey drive, so a home without small animals, including cats and small dogs, would be best. Her enthusiasm for food also makes her a bit too rambunctious for homes with very young children, as she may accidentally knock them over in her excitement. At around 40 pounds, Beatrice is strong and agile. As a hound, her hunting instincts are sharp—especially when it comes to raccoons. She has even taken down a raccoon her size without a scratch! Beatrice’s story is one of resilience. This beautiful brindle girl was abandoned on a road in Arkansas while pregnant, and sadly, her litter didn’t survive. After fending for herself, she thought she’d found a home, only to be abandoned again. Thankfully, a local rescue stepped in, and Beatrice made her way to Atlanta, where she’s hoping to find her true forever family. What makes Beatrice truly special are her soulful eyes, her stunning coat, and her eagerness to please. She’s a social butterfly who loves other dogs, enjoys playtime, and has a deep desire to bond with a person she can call her own. She’s a cuddler, happy to snuggle up and relax next to you, but she’s also a true hound who would love to accompany you on outdoor adventures. If you’re a hunter, she’d be thrilled to join you—just be sure to keep a tracker on her because once she picks up a scent, she’s off! Because of her strong hunting instincts, a home with a fenced yard would be ideal to give her space to run while staying safe. Beatrice is 100% potty trained and is perfectly calm indoors as long as she gets her daily walk. A 30-minute walk is usually enough to keep her content and relaxed, but without that exercise, she might get a bit antsy. If you’re looking for a beautiful, loyal companion to share your life with—whether it’s watching TV on the couch or exploring the outdoors, Beatrice Beasley could be the perfect match. She’s a special girl, and I tell her that every day. My biggest hope is that she finds someone who will see just how special she is and give her the loving home she deserves. Could that someone be you? Walker is a two-year-old, 50-pound purebred Walker hound who was found stray before Thanksgiving and likely dumped by his owner. He is a very nice dog that seems to be housetrained. Walker is calm and good with other dogs, not a big barker like most hounds, and we think he would be a wonderful addition to any home. If you’d like to foster or adopt Walker, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com and apply. ##2253446##

Story
Home for the Holidays - Reduced Adoption Fees if Adopted by January 10th!    Doxy is a 9 year old, 17 pound, Beagle/Doxy mix. He was returned to AAU because his adopter was going into a senior living situation. He is a very sweet little dog. He does bark a lot, so he can not live in an apartment or condo. He is house trained, but he’s on Lasix (a fluid pill) for his heart condition. He can only be left for a few hours or so, depending on the time you gave the medication.    Speaking of his heart condition, Doxy does have rather advanced heart disease. He is on 2 other heart medications besides the Lasix. And I’ll add to his being left, that he has separation anxiety. He needs a home with another sweet dog. I would not crate him. I do have 2 personal dogs and I give them and Doxy the run of the house when I leave.    Doxy also has urinary crystals and must be on a special diet. Finally, he has Gallbladder disease for which he must take medication. Summing it up, he will be on a special diet and medication for the rest of his life. He would do best with a fenced yard because of his medication.   I know he sounds like a train wreck, but he’s a very good dog. He loves everyone and other dogs. He is not a fan of cats. Doxy is very attached to his people and smart! He picked up our routine quickly. He enjoys watching TV on the sofa.    Doxy is also a good watch dog. He spends much of his day “lounging”. He loves, loves, loves his evening leash walks. Honestly, you would never know he had any health issues when you meet him. I am retired and have a busy life. Doxy’s health issues have not interfered with my lifestyle. He has only added love to our household! An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online at http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  For inquiries, email inquiry@angelsrescue.org Please be sure to like our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue. Doxy is a sweet and loving 9-year-old Beagle/Dachshund mix weighing in at 17 pounds. This charming little guy adores everyone he meets and gets along well with other dogs, though cats aren’t quite his cup of tea. What makes Doxy special:   Doxy has some medical needs, so he’s looking for a dedicated and compassionate -person to provide him with the care he deserves. He’ll need to stay on a special diet to prevent urinary crystals and will require lifelong medications for his heart and gallbladder. Despite these challenges, Doxy is full of life and love! His perfect home: --A fenced yard where he can easily go out.  He's potty trained but prefers going out every 4 - 5 hours. --A stay-at-home parent or someone with a flexible schedule to keep him company and help with his separation anxiety. Having another sweet dog in the home helps him feel secure, too! --A peaceful setting, as Doxy’s barky moments may not suit apartment or condo living.   What Doxy loves: --Evening leash walks—his absolute favorite activity! --Lounging during the day and snuggling on the sofa to watch TV with his family. --Being involved in family routines, as he’s a smart boy who quickly adapts to new schedules.   Though he’s a great watchdog and has some special needs, Doxy doesn’t let his medical issues slow him down. His foster mom, a busy retiree, says he has only brought love and joy into her home. Doxy is looking for someone as special as he is—someone who will give him the love and care he needs to thrive.          January 9, 2025, 9:18 am

Story
Hello, friends! My name is Jack Star, and I really do feel like a star since I was rescued. I'm getting yummy food, toys to play with, and lots of TLC.  I'm a beagle boy and I weigh 29 pounds. I'm estimated to be six years old, but I act younger than my age. Foster mama says I'm a goofball who's down to clown whenever and wherever. I love people and cuddling! I also love other dogs and enjoy playing with them. I am best friends with two of my foster fur brothers and we wrestle and play every day. It's so much fun! I'm perfectly house trained and pretty good walking on a leash. Like many beagles, I let my nose lead the way! I will go into a crate if you give me a tasty treat, but I don't like being left alone and will loudly sing the song of my people for a few minutes before quieting down and napping. It would be best if I didn't live in a place where walls are shared with neighbors like apartments, condos, or townhomes. I have icky heartworms in me, but I'm starting treatment on 12/9 and I'll be all better soon! I can be pre-adopted in the meantime. Foster mama says whoever adopts me is going to be so lucky to have such a funny and loving pup. I can't wait to find that special person! I'm going to love them so much!  An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions. Story
Some dogs really enjoy love and attention, and that describes this Beagle boy to a "T."    Willie Wiseone is a five-year-old male Beagle who loves humans and dogs and eagerly seeks his people out for attention. He adores his foster family's other dogs and has a blast chasing them around the fenced backyard. He also demonstrates his Beagle genetics while he explores any area with his nose. But Willie also enjoys hanging out with us in the kitchen, after a brief play session with his favorite extra large stuffed ball!   Willie Wiseone has slept in a crate but prefers it when we keep him in the kitchen with one of the other dogs. Of course, he can choose from plenty of dog beds for his naps. And when his foster family comes home, he is very excited to see us. WillieW is even good with cats   Willie Wiseone is house-trained, but remember, in a new place, he will need you to show him where he should go to potty, take him out frequently, and watch for his cues for several days.    WillieW is a sweet and loving boy looking for a forever home where he can enjoy a leisurely walk, be loved, and hang out with his people. Of course, the occasional belly rub is highly welcome!
