This little 11 pounder is "Popcorn". We call him that because he bounces around like popcorn and it is hysterical to watch! He came in quite matted, so he will be getting a fresh cut, but you can see his fully grown out coat in his profile picture. He was living with a family with a child who was 7 years old. He had been used to having someone home all day so if he needed to go potty, he would bark at the door. He is used to sleeping indoors in his X-pen and bed. Since their schedules have changed, he has been left outdoors during the day. They feel it would be good for Popcorn to have a home where someone is home with him more. He will need to have an owner who will groom him regularly so he doesn't get matted. He is a small boy who would do best as an indoor pup.        Meet Maya Blue!   This 5 lb, 8-year-old Yorkie mix is a sassy little soul who came to us from Contra Costa Animal Services. We can’t wait to share her journey with you!   &#226&#156&#168 It’s Maya’s world, and she occasionally lets us in. She thrives in her familiar spaces and is a little spicy when it comes to human interaction. Not a fan of most touches, she’ll show her sass with alligator rolls and playful hops if picked up. But don’t worry—her “bites” are toothless and gentle!   Maya loves to explore (sometimes in circles), nap, and enjoy her meals. When she does allow you in, she’ll give you those sweet, brief kisses and the occasional ear rub.   She’s not a fan of crates and prefers her own cozy enclosed space at night. While she uses potty pads when needed, she’s still learning her potty training, especially outside her comfort zone.   Due to her aversion to being touched, Maya would do best in a quiet home without children. She’s not keen on harnesses either, so outdoor adventures will need to wait until she’s more comfortable.   Stay tuned for updates as Maya Blue gets closer to finding her forever home. We started caring for Leo when our relative owner passed. He has 4 foster siblings that we are also caring for. The others that you will find on this site are Princess, Coco and Marco. We want to rehome them in pairs. Leo is yorkshire, honey and gold fur, likes to chill but does have energy, toy size (about 4 lbs.), indoor dog and about 8 years old. He has been neutered and his rabies vaccine is current. He gets along well with his foster siblings. He may be best adopted with Marco who you will find in another profile. They often sleep in the same bed. Leo loves attention. He does not like to walk and is content to stay at home, inside. Leo pees and poos on a pad indoors or in the back yard. Leo always barks at cats. Leo needs dental work that adopter will need to pay for. Prospective adopter agrees to keep him in the house, except for supervised outings, and agrees to send photos of Leo. Return him to us if unable to care for him..

The resiliency of dogs is incredible. This boy came in matted so badly that it would be considered cruelty. In spite of his horrible condition, he had a very gentle and affectionate demeanor. Thankfully we were able to get him shaved, so while he may look a little bald now, he will grow out and blossom into a beautiful dog in no time. He is feeling so much better now that the shell of hair has been removed. He appears to be about 2 years old based on his clean, white teeth. He weighs 11 pounds. We have a neuter appointment for him on 3/11 and have gotten him vaccinated and microchipped. We suspect that this little peanut was kept outdoors, so new owner will have to teach him how to be a house dog. He will need to be groomed regularly when his coat grows out. $350.00 adoption helps us with his care.
