Story
How could this delicate little nugget have been a stray!?!? She has been neglected for some time and is settling into the good life, learning that she is safe and sound. She is kind, quiet, mellow and a gentle old soul. Sophie is good with dogs, probably cats, and gentle teenagers. She truly is a kind soul! We think that she's 14 years old and she weighs a whopping 5 lbs. Our vet has done extensive tests on our little nugget and, other than minor changes to her liver, she is healthier than first thought! She will need to take a liver supplement for the foreseeable future, and we will have her spayed once she's gained a little weight. Sophie deserves the world. We know that she will be a wonderfully loyal lap dog and she will do well in most any mellow home.

Story
Meet Maya Blue!   This 5 lb, 8-year-old Yorkie mix is a sassy little soul who came to us from Contra Costa Animal Services. We can’t wait to share her journey with you!   &#226&#156&#168 It’s Maya’s world, and she occasionally lets us in. She thrives in her familiar spaces and is a little spicy when it comes to human interaction. Not a fan of most touches, she’ll show her sass with alligator rolls and playful hops if picked up. But don’t worry—her “bites” are toothless and gentle!   Maya loves to explore (sometimes in circles), nap, and enjoy her meals. When she does allow you in, she’ll give you those sweet, brief kisses and the occasional ear rub.   She’s not a fan of crates and prefers her own cozy enclosed space at night. While she uses potty pads when needed, she’s still learning her potty training, especially outside her comfort zone.   Due to her aversion to being touched, Maya would do best in a quiet home without children. She’s not keen on harnesses either, so outdoor adventures will need to wait until she’s more comfortable.   Stay tuned for updates as Maya Blue gets closer to finding her forever home. She may be a little spicy, but she’s got a heart of gold just waiting to shine!   #AdoptMayaBlue#YorkieMix#RescueDog#ComingSoon#SpicyButSweet We are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets.  To help our ALL VOLUNTEER team rescue more senior, special needs, medically needy and hospice animals (and a few 'typical' ones along the way, please consider making a tax-deductible (TAX ID 45-4103375) donation online at www.paypal.me/UOH or Venmo @umbrellaof-hoperescue or Zelle beourpet@gmail.com.   You can also buy tees, tanks. sweatshirts, hats and bandannas where all proceeds benefit our animals https://ruff-life-rescue-wear.myshopify.com/collections/umbrella-of-hope We also have an Etsy store where the merchandise is made by volunteers and supporters, changes regularly and 100% of the proceeds benefit our medical fund https://www.etsy.com/shop/Umbrellaofhope Amazon Wish List tinyurl.com/pineapplewish  November 6, 2024, 3:48 pm

Story
Bonded pair- Two little ladies we believe are Yorkie Terrier and possibly Chihuahua or even Maltese and something else scruffy fluffy?! They are a lower shed mix of some sort of adorable! NAME:ThelmaSTATS:Female, Yorkie Terrier, 2 years, 10 lbs.TEMPERAMENT:Shy at first and warms up.Playful, but not overly so.Needs to be WITH ANOTHER dogBonded pairSKILLSDoing great with potty training.Crate trained.Unknown with very young children. Would recommend gentle kids over 7 who can be patient. Good with dogs.Good with cats.SKILLSDoing great with potty training.Crate trained.Good with dogs.Likes walks, but not great for hiking.Good with cats but does chase them if runningMORE ABOUT ME:Likes belly rubs.Couch cuddler.Likes walks.Likes playing with other dogs.Suggest training (basic manners).Wants to please and be by her people, easy to redirect once she trusts you. ONE LAST THING:Thelma is a little more independent at times. She likes to cuddle with you on the couch, Sleep in bed with you and loves her walks. If you can not find her in the house, look in the backyard. She likes to Explore and protect her surroundings from squirrels and cats. She is often looking for her sister Louise to play with or snuggle with. She likes to hang out in the office when you work from home. Thelma and Louise like to do zoomies and play together.Thelma loves her walks can be a little reactive to other dogs/people at first but this has improved a lot. They will need time to feel at home and decompress in a new environment. From her behavior, we think she was left in the yard as you really need to make sure she has potty breaks and reward her for doing right. If you miss her cues, she will go inside.Thelma and Louise were left behind when their owner moved away. A nice Rescue lady in Stockton took them in when they saw the owner never came back for them. Sounds like they lived most of their lives in the backyard. Now they are pampered little princesses.January 18, 2025, 9:49 pm

Story
Meet our sweetest Milo. He is a pure bred yorkie weighing in at 11 pounds. Yes, he is fully grown and will turn 3 in July of 2025. He is hypoallergenic and has a nice full coat with silky hair. He is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations and had a dental done at the time of his neuter. He was cleared by our vet to find a loving home; might that be you? Milo currently sleeps in his crate at night but if you prefer, he sleep in bed with you he would love to snuggle. He loves playtime with his person and squeaky toys are his favorite. He will fetch balls for you and loves to be wherever you are. He is also house trained and will sit by the door to let you know when he needs to potty. He sometimes naps in his crate during the day so if you are cleaning around the house, he won't be a bother. He loves belly rubs and will lay next to you for love and affection. He is the sweetest boy and loves that one on one with his humans. He is why they say, " a dog is a man's best friend." He enjoys his spa days and is learning to enjoy his morning walks as the leash is a bit new to him, but he is a quick learner. He gets along with most small dogs alike although he enjoys all the attention on him and will be your best of friend you didn't know you needed. He is a very sweet and handsome boy I hope this post reaches the right person who will love Milo as much as we do! We are set to travel to NorCal/Oregon on January 31 and we would love for him to accompany us to his forever home! His adoption fee is 2,000 in total. It covers all exams with our vet, vaccinations, microchip/lifetime registration, neuter, additional iv fluids during his dental. The care provided during his time with us, including grooming and the training we've personally conducted, is reflected in his adoption fee. Please note that travel expenses are separate and will be added to the adoption fee if transportation is required, depending on your location. Get in touch with us today and share details about yourself, the loving home you will provide, and your experience with the breed. We will be in contact with you shortly. Thank you!

Story
Please meet Augie. He is such a calm, sweet guy. He NEEDS a home. He is so gentle that he just doesn't do well in a rescue situation. It can be a foster home or a forever home. But a home he needs! He has gained some weight in rescue but with regular walks and outings, I am sure he will get back to a good weight. He does well with other dogs but he prefers to just stay out of trouble and clear of hoopla! I just know he would LOVE to have someone to spend time with him. Doesn't need much...just some love. If you think Augie might work in your life, please text your interest to be sent on online application form or print your own from the Forms section at wrenyorkierescue.org as well as reading the “how it works” section to understand the Rescue process. Again, even a foster would be wonderful! As a foster, if you live near the rescue, we will supply his food. Thanks for considering sweet Augie.

Story
SEPT 2024: Miss Tazzie is a very affectionate & companionable girl who likes to keep her person in sight at all times-i.e. she will follow whenever her person moves into another room or outside, and becomes quite vocal when left behind; also VERY vocal with pleasure at her person’s return, only quieting down once her person enters the home, sits down & says SHUSH. For this reason TAZ needs a detached home with yards, rather than an apartment building, and preferably another canine housemate to play with; If you can provide a suitable environment for a dog with vocal separation anxiety, please revisit Wrenyorkierescue.org & read the “how it works” section to understand the Rescue process, or text the number below to request a fill-in-online application if you don’t have a printer.
