Story
Otra is a gentle giant. Dog-friendly with dogs of all sizes. People-friendly, but may be too much for little kids. Super handsome, Otra, is an Akita mix and is the goofiest most well natured boy you’ll meet! He weighs around 95 pounds and is such a gorgeous fluffy boy.    Otra is great on leash, is crate trained, and is house trained. Otra lovessss other dogs, sometimes too much for their liking. He loves chasing his doggy friends' tails, which can sometimes annoy them. When he gets corrected, he gets so sad. He is essentially a 90lbs puppy. His ideal home would be one where he has a doggy friend to play with and preferably a fenced in yard.    Otra is a very loving boy. He is very playful and is mouthy during his playtime. He will give you his paw to trick you into putting your hand within reach so he can chew on it. It is adorable and not malicious in any way, but his future family must know about this and be okay with it!    Otra has a degenerative eye condition and will continue to lose his vision over time. Right now his vision is pretty good, but sudden movements do spook him, and he can be a little bit head shy. Due to his vision loss and mouthiness, Otra is looking for a home without small children.       (DOB 8/29/2019) As part of Otra’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Otra, you can fill in an online application by going to our website and clicking the" Adopt"  button on his profile at:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##1860067##

Story
Cookie is a really timid and shy dog who’s and 11 months old. I got her last year in July 1st and been keeping her ever since. My cousin was going to adopt her so he asked me to watch Cookie for him since he was in the military and his wife was busy working. It was until December or January that he decided he didn’t want Cookie anymore and wanted to adopt a pit bull instead. He didn’t tell us and I’ve just been watching Cookie. Cookie is protective and can sense if your energy is bad or good. She is sassy and will side eye you from time to time. Once she gets used to you, she will adore you. She loves eating my food, she snatched my food out of my hand many times before. I’m looking for an owner who will love her the same way I love her. Who will take care of her and treat her well. Someone who’s experienced with raising dogs that are a bit tougher to raise than most dogs. I’m in a desperate situation and struggling right now, I just want Cookie to live well.

Story
Hi! My name is Ludovich. (Luda for short.) If you are looking for an ideal companion, then look no further cause here I am! I am already housebroken, crate trained, know sit, shake, and even know I am not supposed to jump on you or your furniture without your permission! I enjoy snuggling with you if you will let me, and like a good romp in a fenced-in backyard. My favorite thing is being outside and I can be a tadstubborn when it's time to come in. My foster mom thinks I might have accidentally escaped from my people since I was caught chasing a deer. Since my prior owner could not be found, I find myself in need of a new home. My only requirement is a home with no small animals, (cats, rabbits, small dogs, chickens, etc.,) because though I am well trained and super laid back, I do have a high prey drive. If you are looking for a new friend who will not require much training, just a bit of time to understand your expectations, I would love to meet you! And hey, I am even neutered so I can go home with you right away! If you are interested in meeting me too, please contact the shelter so they can get you in touch with my foster mom. She would love to set up a meet and greet so she can show off my good manners and just how much of a gentleman I am. I hope to meet you soon! Primary Color: Tan Weight: 64 Age: 4yrs 1mths 0wks

Story
Come aboard and meet Maureen and see how and why she is simply, well Mahvelous! Maureen is a stunning husky mix who has a tail that is her crowning glory and this says a lot as she has a gorgeous coat and equally gorgeous personality to boot! Maureen is a smaller gal who weighs under 40 lbs full grown though she might need to add a few as that hair is so full and lush it's hard to see underneath. Maureen is everything her breed would suggest including smart and sharp, adventurous and active and a partner in anything you are up to doing. Maureen would love to lead an active lifestyle and be with some furever people who will stimulate her mind and body and fill her heart as well. Maureen cannot wait to meet you! **Volunteer Dog Walker feedback: "Maureen did great on her hike! She was so excited to go on a hike and kept pace with two other dogs at the front of the pack. She took a dip in the lake and then cooled off in the kiddie pool once we returned back. She was great with the other dogs and didn't mind the traffic". "She was ready to go and enjoyed every puddle we met along the way. She took treats gently and kept a good pace. After the hike- she enjoyed the pool and relaxed while I petted her" "She was focused on the walk rather than other dogs and was responsive to me as her walker".

Story
As the name suggests, Yang brings light and energy into your day. Yang will be the best companion on runs and walks. He is ready for a good time. He follows his fosters and enjoys playing with the other dogs and kids at his foster home. He is curious to know everything and listen to future commands as he is trained. He eats very well and LOVES a good treat. If you want a larger dog with the best ears and personality in the neighborhood, Yang is your new best friend. *Weekend Host feedback: "Yang remains calm and composed. He adapts very well to leash walking and enjoys car rides, but we recommend a doggo seat-belt so he doesn't roam.Yang adores human interaction and loves to rest his head on your lap or shoulder. He often gently places his soft, large paws on your hand. These endearing traits make him an incredibly loving companion who thrives on close contact with his people".

Story
Hugely Handsome Husky Here! Alert, alert and alert to husky lovers and lovers all of things good looking, active and smart. We are not joking, Slider is the second of two knock out huskies who recently arrived at the farm and are already ready to adventure through life with you. Kinda like his name would suggest, Slider is a smaller version of a husky (as opposed to burger that is) but that is primarily because he is a bit underweight at about 48 lbs full grown. Slider is all husky which means he is active, engaged, eager to learn and do and would definitely do best with folks who understand the breed and what kind of lifestyle is most fulfilling for them. Slider is great with other dogs but in true husky style, can be totally fine on his own running, exploring and adventuring on his own (with you of course) as well. Slider is good in his crate and ready to bust on out to a life of fun and games with you moving forward!
