Meet Midnight, a one-year-old pit bull mix with a heart of gold and a playful streak that will keep you smiling. Midnight became a staff and volunteer favorite the moment he arrived, thanks to his sweet, friendly demeanor and enthusiasm for life. This clever boy already knows "sit" and "paw," and he's eager to learn more. Midnight adores playing with friendly dogs and has lived harmoniously with both dogs and cats in the past. While we don’t know if he’s lived with kids, he’s been nothing but friendly toward the ones he’s met. He is house trained. Midnight’s history is a bit of a mystery. A month ago, his previous person found him tied to a post and brought him in, but unfortunately, their landlord wouldn’t allow them to keep him. They had nothing but wonderful things to say about Midnight, except for one little quirk: if he’s left alone, he might go treasure hunting in the trash. Honestly, who can blame him? Snacks are irresistible! If you're looking for a lovable, playful companion who gets along with just about everyone, Midnight might be your perfect match. Come meet him and see if he’s the missing piece to your family! Marley came to TJO quite itchy and nervous, but opened up quickly to staff and soon enjoyed all the butt scratches she could handle. Her favorite toy is tennis balls; she enjoys collecting them, fetching them, chewing on them, and sometimes tearing them open. Do you have room for a loveable tennis ball dragon?OTHER PETS: Marley was not interested in meeting hyper dogs, and gets grumpy with other dogs if they play too roughly (even if not with her); Marley would do best as an only dog although she enjoys socializing with low energy dogs outside of the home. [Should Be Only Pet] NO CATS, NO DOGS OWNER EXPERIENCE: Marley is going to need time, compassion, and understanding while she settles in - it may take longer than usual for her to begin to settle in and open up. Someone with experience would be able to support Marley with a minimal learning curve. [Some Experience] KIDS: Marley can be intense with her food and takes time to warm up to people; she needs to live with humans who will not mess with her food bowls and understand she may take time to become affectionate with them - Marley is nervous around strangers and may growl at them. Babe is a sweet older girl who might take a while to warm up. She can be skittish with new people, but once she's comfortable she'll be leaning in for all the pets! She's not a fan of loud noises, and will startle easily when she's not expecting something, but she's so gentle and sweet--especially when it comes to treats! Since she's such a nervous dog, patience and support will be crucial in helping Bella adjust to her new home. OTHER PETS: While Babe isn't overtly reactive with other dogs, she prefers to keep to herself and isn't fond of close interaction. Cupcake came to TJO a little timid, but curious about her new surroundings. She is reserved in the kennel, but once she warms up and gets outside she loves to play! She tends to pull on the leash to reach all the smells, and will jump up to get the attention of her favorite people, but with some positive reinforcement training and some decompression in her new home, she'll be a wonderful companion to hang out with after a walk around the block. OTHER PETS: Cupcake initiated play with other dogs, and would likely get along with other playful dogs that will match or tolerate her play style. NO CATS [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Because Cupcake can get overexcited with people, she would likely do best with someone who has some modern knowledge of dog behavior and body language. [Some Experience] KIDS: Cupcake is uncomfortable with some types of handling and can be jumpy with people, so she would likely fit best in a home with kids who are old enough to understand how to interact with her and won't be knocked over easily. She also has some intensity around her food, so she should live with people that are able to respect her boundaries and leave her alone while she eats.
