Story
Rosie is a 6-year-old, 50lb—pitbull/plott hound mix. She is high-energy, affectionate, smart, and silly. I adopted Rosie 3 years ago from Safe With Us Animal Rescue, who found her as a stray in Texas. Rosie had challenges - too much energy, high prey drive, accidents in the house, and tearing up items. With training she has come a LONG way. She walks by people and dogs calmly, is a pro at sit, wait, down, and up, and lives happily with a large bulldog. She is crate trained, which is necessary for her safety when alone and recommended during the night. She needs lots of physical and mental exercise but is an amazing companion for someone who can give her the time and attention she deserves. She cannot safely live with cats or dogs less than 50 lbs. We are rehoming her due to our baby due in May, and her prey drive around our cat. We are happy to provide her new humans with her crate, favorite toys, leashes, etc. Rosie is an amazing dog and will brighten up the right person's home!

Story
Meet Dolly Pawton! A charming almost seven-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix from Milford, MA, with a snow-white coat accented by a dark patch on her face and faint spots that make her truly one of a kind. Named after the legendary Dolly Parton, this lovable girl is a mix of sweetness, charisma, and affection! Dolly is a loyal and affectionate companion who adores cuddling with her humans and her favorite blanket. She’s the perfect mix of laid-back and playful—enjoying walks and zoomies in the yard but ready to wind down for a cozy nap soon after. A true shadow, she loves following her humans around, always eager to lend her “assistance” with household tasks. While Dolly enjoys being close, she’s crate-trained and perfectly fine being left at home for a few hours while her family runs errands. She’s also a great car companion and happy to tag along for adventures! While Dolly is an affectionate sweetheart, she does have some clear boundaries that her new family will need to respect. She has exhibited protective behavior when her space has been invaded, particularly by young children. There were two incidents where she bit: once when a young child laid on her and touched her back legs roughly, and another time when a child entered her crate area uninvited. These incidents highlight Dolly’s need for a calm, child-free home with adults or older children who understand and respect her space. She has no history of aggressive behavior with adults or older kids who respect her boundaries. This sweet girl is looking for a calm home where she can be the center of attention—literally! Dolly needs to be the only dog in the household. While she enjoys socializing with other dogs on walks or at daycare, she doesn’t like sharing her humans’ affection at home. She’s happiest as the solo star in a home that values her loyalty and affectionate nature. Dolly’s low-energy lifestyle, coupled with her endearing quirks like sunbathing in warm weather and her quiet, watchful nature, make her a wonderful companion for the right family. She knows commands like sit, stay, and leave it, and her eagerness to please makes her a joy to have around! To make sure that Dolly has a great start with her new family, we have a canine behaviorist available for a free consultation. Could Dolly Pawton be the loving companion you’ve been waiting for? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to meet her and start your new chapter together!

Story
Zarina came to BARC Houston as a pregnant stray, lovingly dubbed the "Crown Mother" for her nurturing spirit. She gave birth to and raised 8 precious puppies in foster care, ensuring they grew strong and healthy. Now that her puppies have all found their forever homes, Zarina is ready for her own chance at happiness and relaxation in a loving family. A bit reserved at first, Zarina warms up with patience and kindness. Her soft, golden eyes reflect a heart full of love, and with a little time and some tasty treats, you’ll have a loyal companion for life. Zarina is looking for a calm, understanding home where she can enjoy her golden years in peace. MA license #0092 ##2245436##

Story
Meet Cloud! This sweet 2 year old little lady is medium sized and beautiful with her soulful eyes and brindle coat. Cloud is a shy girl, and will need an adopter who is patient with her as she adapts to life as a house dog. Cloud’s journey is one of resilience and hope. She was part of a heartbreaking hoarding situation with over forty dogs in desperate need of help. An incredible neighbor took it upon himself to feed these dogs and provide them with some semblance of love and care. Unfortunately, the owner couldn’t manage to spay or neuter her animals, leading to numerous litters and an overwhelming number of dogs. Cloud has endured so much and remains a bit scared, so she needs someone with experience handling animals that require extra care and attention. Despite her fears, she does well around children and other dogs, making her a wonderful companion for the right family. Cloud’s spirit is as light and hopeful as her name suggests. She deserves a home filled with love, patience, and understanding. If you can provide Cloud with the safe and caring environment she needs, you’ll be giving a deserving dog a chance at a beautiful life. Interested in this little lady? Apply today! MA license #0092.
