Story
Everyone knows pittie mixes take longer to find their forever home. Let’s not make that the case with Duncan! Duncan spent 6 weeks at our local Animal Control before his fosters picked him to take home. His personality is still emerging but so far we know he loves playing with his rope, chewing on a bone, & playing fetch in the yard. You should see his little hops! Duncan is such a great boy inside the house too. He will curl up in a ball and sleep while his fosters eat dinner or do everyday activities. He is also used to being crated 8-5 while his fosters are at work. He’s housebroken! Though he’s not currently fostered with other dogs, he is dog friendly and loves a good game of chase. He could use some work with leash manners so a yard is a plus. He’s neutered, microchipped, UTD on vaccines & prevention. Interested in meeting this big boy? Fill out an application on our website.

Story
Name: Willa Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog mix Age: 4 years old Background: Willa was surrendered from an unfortunate situation. She was adopted and returned 2 weeks later. She was then adopted by another family and returned 2 days later. She is now approaching her first year in the shelter. This has worn her down and she has started to become depressed in the shelter. Willa is loyal and protective. She appreciates her space and bonds strongly with her person, developing a need to protect her person and the area. Because of this, we believe she would do well in a home with a single individual or experienced dog owners that can crate train her and work with her protectiveness. Personality: Willa is a stunning and affectionate girl with a heart of gold. She's smart and eager to please, already learning commands like "heel," "lay down," and leash training during her short adoption. Willa has good manners, taking treats gently and refraining from jumping on people. She's described as a cuddle bug and enjoys reciprocating affection with gentle "petting" using her paw. Her tail wags enthusiastically, and she'll even do a playful bow to show her excitement. She is a perfect balance of low and medium energy - she is content to lounge and play with toys by herself, but she also enjoys the occasional hike or adventure. Ideal Home: Willa is seeking a confident, gentle, and experienced owner who understands her needs. Although she's incredibly sweet and smart, she gets protective of the person she bonds with and their space. She sometimes views outsiders as threatening. She needs proper decompression time in a new home, as she's been in the shelter so long. She would be the perfect dog for a single owner, as she is loyal and would make sure her person is safe. She would do well with a male dog or as an only dog and meet and greets are recommended. Final Thoughts: Willa is a wonderful companion waiting for the perfect match. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate, and intelligent canine companion, come meet Willa at the shelter during opening hours. She's sure to steal your heart with her charm and loving nature.

Story
Name: Kai Breed: American Bully Mix Age: Around 4 years old Background: Kai was surrendered by his owner who could no longer provide for him. Personality: Kai is a muscular, beefy boy that likes to have fun. He is energetic and athletic. He loves going for walks and playing (and he is surprisingly very calm and easy to walk). He has adorable butt wiggles and will twirl in your arms when he's happy. He absolutely loves affection and will lean on you for pets and hangout with you on the couch. He can get excited when he initially sees you, but he is smart and food-motivated which makes training easier. He is already neutered, up to date on shots, and house trained. He knows "sit" and takes treats very gently. He is a big boy who sometimes can't control his excitement, so he'd likely do better in a home without small children. Ideal Home: He would likely not make a good apartment dog, as he loves to run and play. He has not yet been dog or cat tested, so we recommend a meet and greet if you have another pet. So far he displays positive body language with the other shelter dogs and seems interested in cats, but doesn't lunge or display aggressive behavior towards them. Final Thoughts: Kai is a handsome, big guy with a sweet face and heartfelt eyes. He would do great with someone willing to exercise him. His tail is always wagging and he would love to have a companion! Note: Kai is heartworm positive and is completing a round of antibiotics. After this, he will take heart worm prevention each month which is something we highly recommend for all dogs, not just HW+ ones.

Story
Meet Brantley! Quick Facts: Breed: Pitbull X Estimated Birthday: 1/1/2016 Size: 49 lbs --================================ Brantley hasn’t had the easiest life. He was a shelter dog at a young age who had a bad respiratory infection and heartworms. With the odds stacked against him already as a black Pitbull in a shelter, throw in some medical issues, and he was the perfect addition to our rescue crew. Healed from infection + treated for heartworms, Brantley found what seemed to be his forever home. But Brantley's family grew over the years, and unfortunately, Brantley found himself on the backburner, and once again subjected to being dropped off at the shelter. Luckily, the shelter reached out to us, and we quickly picked Brantley up - though he is now filled with confusion and on medication to help relieve his anxiety. On a happier note, Brantley is still a great companion and we have faith we can find a true forever home for him. He likes to go on walks, showing off his zoomies outside, and playing fetch.. but it's more fetch for you, because Brantley doesn't believe in the vital part of the game that includes actually bringing the ball back. His absolute favorite game is hanging out with his humans - he's a fantastic nap buddy, always advocating for the cause, and would appreciate a fluffed pillow and a blanket. This boy loves a good car ride, as long as you promise snacks for the goodest boi (him, duh). Brantley is dog selective so would do best in a home by himself or with calm, submissive dogs the same size or smaller than him with proper introductions. He does get a little greedy with toys and bones, so Brantley's goodies - like peanut butter filled kongs - are only included in his "me-time" crate training currently. He’s never met a cat that we know of. He has lived with kids and does fine after proper introduction but does not enjoy being crawled on or pulled on, so older kids would be preferred. He does have crate anxiety which we are actively working on. He can go short stints in a crate but then feels like his people have left him all over again. He’s currently doing better in an indestructible crate, but actually is (mostly) reliable outside of the crate when you're not home. If you are looking for a best friend who loves to go on car rides, walks, play ball, and nap peacefully while you're catching up on the latest Yellowstone episode, Brantley is your guy. Before emailing- please read: - Yes, this dog is available for adoption - The adoption fee for Brantley is $265 - Apply at c2cnd.org - The adoption fee covers their age appropriate shots, microchip, deworming, spay/neuter, and any other medical expenses while in our care - Local adopters only. Due to our thorough adoption process including home visits, we limit our adoptions to local families in the greater Charlotte area. - If you have any additional questions, email us at dogs@c2cnd.org and we will respond as soon as possible!

Story
Thank you in advance to whomever accepts him, and congratulations for getting the best new addition to your family. Diambar is the sweetest dog you will meet, he loves everyone and everything. He is quiet and playful. He loves water and loves napping. For some reason unknown, he likes to sleep with his body half on the bed and the other half on the floor. He is great with other dogs, goes regularly to doggy daycare. He was rescued when he was about 10days old. He is super loving and loves to be rubbed. He may look tough but he is one of the most soft hearted and kind creature you will meet. Unfortunately we can no longer keep up due to unforeseen family circumstances that require us to travel overseas extensively.
