This sweet 3 year old pittie girl almost lives up to her name every minute as long as there's not another pet around. We aren't sure if she would be aggressive per-say but she does get extremely anxious around other dogs. Small dogs and cats seem to be a no-go at all. Due to these anxieties, we recommend a home with a fence where she can't see neighbors and roaming critters. Because of her strength she would be safer in a home without young kids that she could knock down. We would love to find her a home where she can shine! She is a total couch potato most of the day. She does love her toys and her babies (stuffed animals) and will play with them in the yard or the house whenever the mood strikes. She loves to go on car rides and on quiet walks. She has no problem hanging out at the office all day and greeting random visitors. And she is the best snuggler at night! We keep saying that she would make an awesome companion for a truck driver!!! She loves food, treats and toys. She does almost anything on command. She enjoys a quick trot through the privacy fenced yard but quickly comes back to follow her new temporary momma around while she does chores. She is content to be almost anywhere her people are but also behaves while they are away if she feels safe and cozy where she is. NAME: Poppy BREED: Pit Bull Mix BIRTHDAY: 2023 WEIGHT: 50lbs ADOPTION FEE: $250 Poppy came to use from a small rural shelter in NC. We had pulled two lovely beagles from them and were happy to work with them again to save one more (even if "one more" was a half-grown pup!). Poppy was just like her videos- nervous but sweet and eager to make new dog friends. She's not sure about new people just yet (although she absolutely loves her foster mom and is a constant shadow/snuggle buddy), but just needs some time to get to know new human friends before turning into a sweet and snuggly companion. She has shown no aggression towards strangers but may be a little rough for very small children. Poppy is house and crate trained, rides well in the car and needs work on leash walking. She lives with dogs of all sizes but would be fine as an only dog provided she has appropriate exercise. Canine friends should be ready for a rough and tumble playmate, or ready to correct if they're only interested in a casual friendship. . Fast approaching her terrible twos, Poppy will need basic training and structure to thrive in her new home. Of course, if you don't mind a little bit of chaos she is fine "as is"! &#226&#128&#139 Why take a chance on Poppy? There's nothing really extraordinary about her, she's just a regular brown pit bull. But that's why she needs your help- she has been overlooked for almost a year, and deserves more than a life in foster care. Hi! My name is Maggie, and I'm here at the Adams County SPCA. My previous owner couldn't take care of me any longer, so she said I should stay with these nice people until I find a new home. They've been really nice to me, so I don't have any complaints.I had a bad eye when I was younger, so the vet fixed it. But guess what happened - it popped back out! The vet here at the shelter fixed it again, so hopefully that won't happen again. They called it a cherry eye because it was red like a cherry. It didn't really hurt, but it didn't look very nice, so most people like to get them fixed.I'm about 2 1/2 years old. I seem to be housebroken - at least I haven't had any accidents since I've been here. Sometimes I get to be the office dog because I'm so well-behaved. One time I got in trouble for taking a toy out of the bin under the lady's desk, but I couldn't help it - it looked really fun. I have typical "Bulldog Skin", which is delicate and reactive to almost everything, so I will probably need to continue the treatment and medication they started me on at the shelter. The medicine I take is on the pricey side, but then again, I'm a Bulldog, so that shouldn't be shocking to Bulldog people.I'd like to go to a home without any other dogs in it. I'm not a big fan of other dogs, and I'd just rather be the only child. and get all the attention. The same goes for cats- not a fan.So to all you Bulldog fans - the dog applications are available on the shelter website! Get yours in right away so you don't miss out on me! The girls said it shouldn't take long for them to find me a perfect home - let's make sure they're right!
