Story
Montana found herself at the shelter as part of a cruelty case in March of 2023. She was seized from her former owner, along with her brother until very recently. Montana is very smart, and quick to learn new cues. This adorable girl loves to run, chase down toys, and is working hard on her fetch skills. While she's not nearly as fearful as Vermont, she does have a fear of new people and things. This makes walking on leash challenging and something she will need patience with. She comes with a Take My Lead grant for FREE training through Handsome Dan's Rescue, which is a mandatory part of her adoption to ensure her forever home is committed to working on her behaviors. Montana loves to play. She's a runner, and would do great in a home with enough space for her to do so. A large fenced in yard would be ideal to give her the outlet she needs to burn off her young energy. She also loves to snuggle, and will gladly get all up in your business in an attempt to get pats and hugs. She is on the small side of medium, and needs an adults-only home, where she will likely need to be the only pet. If you have any questions or are interested in adopting Montana, please email Rachael at hdrrachael@gmail.com

Story
Hondo is a 3 year old, pure bred, red nose pitbull. I purchased him from a very reputable breeder in Massachusetts. I have his breeding paper as well. I raised him from just 7 weeks old up to a little more than 2 years old. It was at this time that my living situation changed and I sadly could not keep him anymore. I found what I believed was a solid home for him but unfortunately it did not work out as of recent. So I have regained ownership of him and I am looking for a very EAGER and ABLE home for him. Hondo is a complete combination of love bug and goofball with a splash of stubborn. He loves nothing more than to play outside with someone (including other dogs) with his toys (mainly balls and a rope). He cannot eat any form of poultry including eggs and turkey as he is allergic to it. But he loves pretty much all other food types especially cheese. He deserves a home with TRUE pitbull lovers who have a STABLE home life to offer him. You will not regret adding him to your family.

Story
Fostering in ConnecticutMeet Appa (or "Appa Papa") – a joyful, toy-loving goofball with a big heart and an even bigger personality! Appa is a sweet companion who loves to follow you around, often with his favorite toy in his mouth, always ready to check in on you—especially if you’re near the fridge, where he hopes you’ll share a “cheese tax.” He’s also learning to enjoy healthy snacks like fruits and veggies; frozen Kongs are his favorite treat!Toys & Playtime:Appa loves his toys and will happily carry them or fetch them when you ask, "Where’s your toy?" While he’s a fan of stuffed toys, he’s best suited for durable ones that last a little longer. Appa also entertains himself with his toys but would love for you to join in a game of fetch whenever you can!Adventures & Outings:This guy adores car rides and shopping trips, enjoying every new adventure he finds. Whether exploring a hiking trail or lounging in the backyard sun, Appa is all about discovering the world around him with you by his side.At Home:Appa’s excitement sometimes makes him a little clumsy, so he’d do best in a home with older children who can match his enthusiastic energy. He’s learning not to counter-surf and is crate-trained, where he happily sleeps with his toy and a snack. He’s a polite observer in the kitchen, hoping for a taste of what’s cooking!Social Skills:With ongoing training, Appa has improved his manners around other dogs. After a gradual introduction, he gets along well with smaller dogs and currently lives with two different dogs his size. However, he’s also perfectly content as a solo dog with a toy box to entertain him.Training & Skills:Appa walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and is highly food-motivated. He loves his couch naps and happily plays the role of a “personal blanket” to his favorite people.Special Needs:Appa has spina bifida, which means he wears belly bands and diapers for incontinence. He’s wonderfully patient with diaper changes and bath time, making his care routine straightforward and simple. What He Needs:Appa is looking for a loving home that appreciates his playful, affectionate spirit and understands his special needs. Though he came from a loving family, a lifestyle change brought him here. Appa needs a family who can continue his training, embrace his joyful nature, and give him the love he deserves.Breed: American Bully MixSex: MaleAge: 3 years old (estimated)Weight: 60 lbs.Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS: Good with Children: Older, teenagers. Story
Fritz is now in a local New England foster home!!!!Adorable Fritz was taken off the Euthanasia list at the Memphis Animal Shelter just in time—it was his day—not because he was a bad dog but because they needed space.  It still happens every day...so sad.Fritz did wonderfully in his foster home in Memphis. His foster mom absolutely fell in love with him. He loved to put his head on her leg to get her attention and some love. When he arrived to New England, the trainer at his boarding facility said that he did well in daycare with the other dogs. He liked the small dogs to play with and fun-loving retrievers and seemed to take corrections from both humans and dogs alike.Fritz is a deaf boy and has learned several commands in short order at his foster home that specializes in deaf puppers. He learned 'sit' in just a few short weeks at his first New England foster home where he was quite beloved before heading to our deaf pup expert. Fritz is a big snuggler and total couch potato. He wants to be on you, against you and have you in his line of sight, but despite this outpouring of love, he's not clingy - he wants to be with you but is happy chewing on a bone nearby.Fritz is just a handsome one blue-eyed fella that will truly be a great BFF!! Story
Meet Jackson Rain, a lively and affectionate dog who loves to play and explore with boundless enthusiasm. His intelligence shines through in every clever trick and game he eagerly learns!Rescued from a storm after being found huddled in discarded furniture outside an abandoned apartment, this lucky pup eagerly jumped into a Good Samaritan’s car, beginning his journey to a new, happy life. Now thriving in his foster home, Jackson radiates boundless joy and playful energy. Whether chasing toys, romping around, or savoring his favorite treats, he’s making every moment count and excelling in training sessions with enthusiasm. Jackson is crate-trained and finds comfort in his crate, happily relaxing there after meals or settling in for a good night’s sleep. He’s is completely house trained and after lots of practice, has mastered leash walking!Jackson loves his people and has no problem licking your face, curling up on the couch with you or just lying by you feet on the floor. He does not like to be left alone and will let you know that with a little bit of a whine, but we are working on that.Currently fostered with lab about his same age and weight, Jackson gets along well with him. He would do best in a home with older children, as his playful energy could unintentionally knock over younger ones. This lovable boy has a healthy love for chewing, but he sticks to his toys and hasn’t shown any destructive behavior—BUT, he loves his box of beneful chew bones .All in all, Jackson is an absolutely wonderful dog.If you are looking for a dog that will truly love you and appreciate being brought into a forever home Jackson is your man!He loves and he loves hard! Meet Willamina—A gentle soul with a playful spirit. Even though she’s super chill most of the time, she absolutely loves a good play session with her favorite stuffies, tossing them around with boundless energy. When she gets super excited, she even hops around like a bunny-a joy to watch! Look how adorable: https://youtube.com/shorts/MNgxdy1UO_c?si=f601RImcSUAavmthWillamina’s journey is truly inspirational. Story
Meet Rory! This girl has the most beautiful grey/green eyes and the cutest freckles on her legs and stomach. And her tail doesn’t stop wagging.Rory was found with another canine, Lorelei (who has been adopted), on a stormy Memphis day. Hungry and wet, the rescue had no trouble getting them to shelter. This girl had significant skin issues that TLC and proper nutrition have lead to healing. Rory is an energetic girl, but is shy around people right now and will roll on her side or lie flat. Her shyness doesn’t last long if you show her that you are a trusted human and it always help if you have a treat to give her. She would love a family who wants to keep working on her shyness and command training. Her treat motivation will definitely assist with both of those things. It appears that Rory had never been in a house or crate before being rescued. She is now learning crate and house manners. Rory runs and plays with the other dogs in her foster home and is cat curious, but not aggressiveThis girl would enjoy a family with another dog to play with or a family who wants an adventure buddy by day and cuddle buddy by night.Name: RoryBreed: Pit Bull Terrier/CrossbreedSex: FemaleAge: 9 months (estimated) - as of JanuaryWeight: 41.2 pounds as of 11/27/24Spayed/Neutered: Yes, spayed on 11/19/24Vaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 12, Small children would be too overwhelming now due to her shyness.  This could change once she feels more confident.Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: Yes, curious, but not aggressive.
