She is very affectionate, loves walks and playing outside, and loves to be where people are. We have a new baby and cannot give her the attention she requires. She needs exercise and stimulation, and a little training couldn't hurt. She lived with a cat for three years without any issues, she is unsure around other dogs, and has never bitten any person or animal.

We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting Whiskey, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org. She must go to a home with at least one other dog. Whiskey lived on a rural farm in Oklahoma as a completely feral dog. When she arrived she had no idea what it meant to be touched by a human. She had never been on a leash, never even eaten from a bowl. She was terrified of everything around her and did not know what it meant to trust anyone. For weeks, our staff would sit in her run just to get her used to human company, she was to scared to take treats from us and would wait to eat until the night time when everyone was gone. We slowly began to introduce her to other dogs, which really helped her start to come out of her shell just enough to go outside and back in on her own. Whiskey's rehabilitation has been 4 years in the making. Whiskey is now in a wonderful foster home and has made a lot of improvement and is beginning to trust people. Her foster mom has been working on getting her used to leashes, and she now goes for walks EVERY NIGHT! This is a huge improvement, and we are so proud of her. Whiskey has another dog in her foster home and they get along great! She has learned to play and really enjoys the company of her foster sister. We are requiring that she go to a home with another dog since she is much more comfortable with other canines around to show her everything is okay. She often likes to spend time just laying in her bed. She is a den dog who likes to have a safe space. Whiskey is food motivated and will warm up to new things with the help of her favorite treats. She squeals with joy at new foods, and especially loves a little bit of ice cream. Overall, Whiskey has had a long journey to learning how to be a house pet, and she is still learning everyday. She is a quiet, shy girl who has never barked or growled in almost three years in her foster home. We're hoping to find Whiskey a family that will give her lots of time, love, and TLC.

Meet Ziggy! This boy is a super speedy ball of energy and FUN! You absolutely can never get bored with him around. It's difficult to tell in a photo, but he is a super fun sized guy weighing in at only 38 lbs.! He's the perfect fit if you're looking for someone who can kick it with the big dogs, and has a big personality, but in a compact size! Ziggy is about 5 years old, he loves to play with his friends and definitely keeps us all laughing with his goofy, zoomie personality. Ziggy craves social interaction, from humans and other dogs. His previous owner left him alone on a tie out often, which caused him to have some separation anxiety. Having other dogs to play with has definitely helped him in this area, but he will still need a home where he will not be alone long hours of the day everyday. He would also do best in a home with a canine companion to play with. Ziggy will need an active family, he is a fun loving, high energy dog. He would not be an appropriate fit for someone who does not have the time to give him a lot of daily exercise and activity. Ziggy loves kids, but he is pretty hyper and needs to work on manners, so he may be to much for small toddlers and babies. However, older kids would be okay. Ziggy needs at least a 6 foot fence for any home with a yard, he can jump a four foot fence. Ziggy would be best in a home without cats or really tiny dogs as he wants to chase and play and is just a little to much for them. He is crate trained and should transition into housetraining quickly. If you have another dog, we will want to introduce them to ensure that they get along well.
