Story
This lively, lovable, little girl was an owner surrender. She was separated from her mother at 6 weeks of age and then spent most of her time in a garage or on a patio. Everything is new to her, she loves to play with other dogs and would do well with another active dog. Ashlee has played (but not destroyed) with every toy in the house, is housebroken, doesn't chew furniture and cuddles up nicely in her crate all night. Due to her young age, she will do best in a home with someone home more often than not and kids over the age of 8. A fenced yard is a must for her twice a day case of the Zoomies. Applicants should be familiar with training pups or willing to commit to a professional trainer, this is essential. If you would like to be considered as her adopter, please contact Cheryl at: marcher6054@yahoo.com for a pre-adoption application Foster to adopt option available as well.

Story
Libby is sure a unique-looking young girl; how can anyone not love her huge ears!! She is thought to be an Australian Kelpie Mix (possibly with Bull Terrier). She weighs about 30 lbs. Her estimated date of birth is June 5th 2023. Libby is a typical puppy, very energetic and playful. She likes to jump and can sometimes forget herself and be a little too rough with other dogs. But….…she is young and needs to learn boundaries and manners in order to evolve into a wonder family member with a forever family she so deserves.. This sweet pup likes playing with other dogs; she’s great with dogs and would enjoy the companionship of another dog in the home. Most likely, a young or middle-aged adult dog would prefer his company much more so than a senior dog. An ideal family for Libby is one able to assimilate the enthusiasm and playfulness of a puppy into their lifestyle and is willing to commit the time to working with and training Libby to be her best self! A secure fenced yard is required; another younger or middle-aged pup in the family could also be advantageous. Libby is crate-trained and is working hard to improve her house manners (housebreaking). She is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, is on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Her spay is included in her adoption fee. For information about adding this adorable girl to your family please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895.

Meet Archer! He is an 7 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs 65 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention. Archer is nervous around strangers! He is good with older children and cats! No younger children or dogs, due to his reactivity! The owner is surrendering him because he recently gave a warning snap at their 1 year old son. He needs to find his new furever home as soon as possible. If you think you can provide a great home for Archer, please contact the owner listed below. There is a rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Archer. Hopkins is at our Adoption Center! You can visit our Adoption Center at any time during open hours, no appointment needed. Fill out our quick adoption survey on our website before visiting to streamline the process. Hopkins is: - Neutered - Up to date on vaccines - Microchipped - Heartworm negative - Currently taking medication for anxiety support - Hopkins has no known medical needs beyond routine wellness care Hopkins is: Housebroken: Doing well on a consistent routine, but still learning how to alert you when he needs to go potty Crate trained: Yes, he has done well for up to 8 hours when home alone Leash walking: Doing well overall. He is gaining confidence with city sights and sounds, and may prefer a quieter area. Dog social: Yes, but will guard food from other dogs so needs to be fed separately Cat social: Unknown Kid friendly: Unknown, but may do best with older kids due to his excitability during play Hopkins likes: - Being close to you and leaning on you (literally) - Having a dog pal to show him the ropes - A quiet place to live and a human that he feels safe with - Being a smartypants! Hopkins can be a sensitive sweetheart who would prefer to live in a slightly quieter home and neighborhood. He loves other dogs and gains confidence from having a dog pal in the home but should be fed separately as he can be protective of food around other dogs. He has been working to master potty training and will need an adopter who can help him with this as he adjusts to his new home. He can become mildly mouthy (play bite) when excited so would benefit from an adopter who can help him channel this energy in positive ways, like working on a stuffed Kong or puzzle toy. Hopkins's adoption fee is $300 and he is ready to be your new BFF! Next steps: Email adopt@onetail.org with questions, or submit an application online and we'll be in touch to schedule a meeting: https://www.onetail.org/apply-to-adopt/ **Have a busier home or noisier neighborhood? We have a similar dog that might be a better fit! Check out (link other dog)!

Root Beer

Australian Cattle Dog

Female, 8 yrs
Chicago, IL
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Root Beer is no stranger to ALIVE Rescue. She was rescued by us back in August of 2017. Root Beer came from a hoarding situation in Chicago where over 40 dogs and puppies were living. Many of the dogs had parvo and Root Beer broke with parvo on the day we were saving her. Luckily, after staying in the ER for several days, she survived. Root Beer has been adopted twice into two loving families since her rescue and we have learned a lot about what makes her happy in a forever home. She bonds quickly to one person in a home and that person becomes HER person. She feels a sense of responsibility to protect that person from everyone else living and visiting the home. At this time, we will only be adopting Root Beer into a home with ONE adult and no children. She also has to be the only animal in the home, so no other dogs or cats. Root Beer doesn't do well with city life where there are too many people, cars and dogs. She'd do best in a single family home in the suburbs. Whoever adopts this girl is going to be really lucky. She will keep you laughing all day long with her happy-go-lucky personality. She's a total goof ball. She likes to feel the wind in her fur. If you are active and like the outdoors, she's your girl. She loves to be outside just sitting and smelling Mother Nature. If she's not resting outside, she is exploring and roaming around. She flourishes at the beach and will walk right in and swim. When she's not busy exploring and being adventurous, you'll find this girl snoozing. She's an expert napper and has never met a blanket or pillow she doesn't love. Falling asleep to tummy rubs is kind of the best. When she's feeling affectionate she'll let you scratch her head and she'll burrow her head into your hand. Let's talk toys....this girl LOVES tennis balls and her favorite is to sprint after the ball & catch it mid-air. Squeaker toy stuffies are the name of the game. And she's really great with puzzle toys. She's a smartie. Speaking of smart, Root Beer also knows basic commands including Shake, Toy, Ball. She will even make her way to the door when you say "inside and knows her bed to be "Place. Training her is easy because she is VERY treat motivated. Not sold on her yet? Root Beer is completely housebroken and is not destructive. Double bonus! Interested in learning more about this girl? Visit aliverescue.org and complete the adoption application.
