Are you looking for an excuse to exercise? Are you looking for a fun-loving companion? Doug fits both of these bills. Doug is a 2 yr-old 54 lb Australian kelpie mix that was brought into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 3/17 by one of our officers. He was overjoyed to get out in the yard and stretch his legs. He seemed to have a lot of nervous energy. These photos don’t do this stunning boy justice as my camera doesn’t do well with motion shots. With a lot of coaxing he did sit. He will need to be taught to take the treats more gently… especially if you have young children. Doug is a happy, fun-loving, friendly, curious boy that needs your love. He walks OK on a leash. He did his business in the yard. He will come to you to have his ears scratched. And he’s very soft. On these upcoming hot summer nights he would love to curl up with you under the air conditioning.

She had her back right leg amputated and is happier and faster than ever! She was born with a deformed leg that our vet determined was causing her pain and made it harder for her to get around. Maddy is timid around new people, but with a little time (and plenty of treats!) she warms up and understands you are safe to be around. She adapts to adults faster than children and will probably do better in a home with no kids or older, patient kids. Maddy does great with other dogs and loves to play with her foster siblings! She a year and 4 and a half months, neutered, Shepard mix. She’s also chipped and has all her basic shots. She’s very shy and scared at first but does warm up to owner very quick. She’s good with older kids 6 and up. Loves to cuddle. She’s been getting a little aggressive over her food lately but not sure if it’s because of the other dogs. Has not bit anyone but has been snapping at anyone coming too fast when we’re together but has not snapped or barked at me.

Meet Littlefoot! This little tripod is one of the sweetest pups you’ll ever meet. She was found as a stray along with her puppies in South Texas a few months ago. Since rescuing her, we have gotten her fully vetted which included amputating her front limb, as she was born with a deformity that was causing her some pain. She’s a little over a year old, good with dogs, but prefers a mellow companion. She’s extremely sweet with people and would like to be a cuddle partner for hours on end. She’s also potty trained and crate trained. She has not been cat tested so unfortunately, we do not know how she would do with kitties. Because Littlefoot was a "street dog" the first year of her life, new things can be scary at first. So we will require a patient leader that can teach her that the world is not a scary place. Our trainer will be happy to continue to work with her on confidence building once she enters into your home, as all of our pups come with 3 free at home sessions with one of our trainers. Hi! I'm Vivi! I'm an approximately 18 month old, female, Cattledog/Husky mix who weighs about 46 lbs. I was found on Valerie Place in Rockwall on 03/26/2025 and never reclaimed. I am very friendly and love to interact and play with my people. I am learning a few tricks and working on my basic commands. I am a bouncy girl who is eager to please. I appear to do well with other dogs but a meet and greet is encouraged to make sure we get along. My adoption fee is $125. I am spayed, microchipped, current on my rabies vaccination, basic boosters are to date, and I'm heartworm negative! All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm.
