Story
Lady was recently rescued from a breeder and is learning what being a family dog is all about. She is cautious and shy around new people, so she will need someone who understands her past and willing to give her the love and patience she deserves. She is doing great with potty training and starting to let her foster family know when she's ready to go out. She is a darling girl and is fine with all size dogs and kids too. She hasn't met a kitty.

Story
Pearl is an 8mo old, 20lb mini Aussie mix gal. She is beautiful and you have to feel her super soft coat to really appreciate it! She is kennel trained and keeps a clean kennel. Pearl is super smart and very treat and praise motivated. Pearl is kid, cat and dog friendly :). She has displayed some resource guarding with food/treats around other pets but this is normal for a pup with her history of having to fight for her food and we will continue to feed her in her kennel while we work through this. She is already showing signs of improvement as she is realizing she will always be fed and will never ever go hungry again. She would do best with a confident dog friend and/or dedicated work towards continued socialization at a doggie daycare or supervised doggie play date. We are working on leash training and recall. She is a sneaky gal and will leave her kennel (her safe space) to sneak around and grab kid toys and random items and take it back to her kennel. She has gotten the zoomies a couple times now and was so pleased with herself! Pearl's most perfect new family will be loving and patient as she is learning that people can be so much fun! She is working on socialization and already greets everyone with tail wags and gentle kisses. She is a flight risk, scared of loud noises and storms, so will need to be leashed at all times. I keep a leash on her in the fenced backyard as we work on recall. She is already learning that I will keep her safe and runs to me when she gets scared. This sweet girl has two sisters in the Kansas City area, who would love to meet up occasionally for play dates!

Approx. DOB: 5/5/18                Approx. Weight: 69 Lbs Adoption Fee: $ 225   includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! We are not sure what Diamond is. The vet clinic listed as a Bearded Collie, however on the surrender form it said Sheepdog/ Australian Shepherd.  Whatever she is, she is definitely a beauty! Diamond would do best in a home where her humans are home more than not. She does have some separation anxiety. She will whine when you first put her in the crate but I tell her it's bedtime and she settles in. I think her having another dog in her new family will also help any anxiety she may feel being left alone during the day. She does well with the other dogs in her foster home and has had no issues with any of them. However, she has been returned 2x now due to having separation anxiety and for having a tussle with the other dog in the home (both females). She definitely enjoys her humans and lights up when you return. She originally came from a family with children and did well with our volunteers daughter (11 yrs). She will need a dog savvy owner. Diamond absolutely loves going for car rides and she loves going on walks. Are you looking for a walking or jogging buddy you have found her! Diamond is going to make some lucky family a wonderful companion. She is housebroken and crate trained. She is very well behaved in the home. And just look at those beautiful blue eyes she has!  I have been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible.   Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
Approx. DOB:  3/14/24                                 Current Weight(as of 8/2/24. 20pds Adoption Fee: $250 includes 1 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Wally was dumped in a small town along with his sister. He is a happy and joyful pup and loves to play.    Wally has some medical issues with his back and hind leg. Radiographs showed a lumbar vertebral malformation.  He will need to be on joint supplements for life.  He also experienced a seizure and it is possible he could have more but at this time only one has been witnessed by his foster. Wally's medical issues DO NOT slow him down,  He acts like a normal puppy, playful, loving and a zest for life! He can outlast any puppy when playing,  running outside or inside.  He loves every dog and person he meets.  He is a sweetheart who craves human touch and love. He is crate trained but not fully housebroken yet.  He really needs someone that has more time to really work with him on this. He is a smart little guy and is a people pleaser so that really helps him learn new skills.  We were working on the sit command but it seems like he has a hard time getting his rump in the right position to accomplish the command. Give this little guy a chance! Just fill out that application to meet him to fall in love.  At our adoption events at the Lee Summit Petco he is our star.  Always loving on every new person he meets there and then rolling on his back to get belly rubs.  He is a real ham.  Puppies are NOT housebroken and should not be expected to wait more than 1 hour for each month of age to go out to potty. Please make sure that you have a “potty plan” in place if considering adoption. All of our puppies have been spay/neuter, wormed, microchipped, and given age appropriate vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting/adopting one of them just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch. Story
COURTESY LISTINGPlease contact  Sam 816-616-0031 or Barb 816-229-8650 for more information! Brody and he will be six years old on September 21st.  He loves to be loved and wants all the attention in the world, but would prefer us not to get in his face. He likes small dogs, he is not very receptive to bigger dogs. He loves to play frisbee, and likes car rides, very afraid of thunderstorms, fireworks, & tools, but he feels safe in his kennel during those times. He is potty trained, and kennel trained. Brody is very protective of his food, so we feed him and leave him alone. He loves children, but because he is so protective of his food, maybe an adult home or an adult home with older children would suit him best, as that protectiveness might frighten young children. Brody was neutered on January 3, 2023.  He also had his teeth cleaned at that time. He likes kettle popcorn, and a little taste of cool whip once in a while. For more information, please contact  Sam directly: 816-616-0031, Barb 816-229-8650, or email packhamb@gmail.com.The animal listed on this page was listed as a courtesy to help find the animal a home. Story
Ollie is the sweetest boy you’ll ever meet! I met him while I worked at a pet hospital and his owner was moving out of the country so I took him in, unfortunately with my job and his need for tons of love and attention I felt like he truly deserves better. He would THRIVE in a house with a yard and maybe a dog buddy or two (he liked my cats they just weren’t a fan of him!) he’s also great with kids and potty trained. He just needs more time with the whoever decides to take him in because he has a lot of love and snuggles to give! He is 6 months old, fully vaccinated, and neutered as well!
