Story
We got Jack from a local rescue in 2017 at 5 months old. We were told that he came from a large family in New Mexico and we think he had some trauma as a puppy. He is smart, fairly well trained and requires a lot of activity (much more than we can provide after bringing home our first baby last year). He loves swimming, running, chewing toys and playing with other dogs. He is a little nervous around people (including men and kids). He has never been aggressive, but has an intimidating bark and takes some time getting used to new people. We were told that he does not do well around cats, but have never had an issue with neighborhood cats. He is a fierce protector and loves to have his ears scratched. He is independent, playful and overall a good dog, we just can’t keep him busy enough and worry a little about his anxiety around our baby. Bad behaviors have included getting into trash, breaking out of kennels, occasional accidents in the house and taking food off of the table/counter.

Story
This stunning guy is Misio, pronounced 'Misho' which is Polish for Teddy Bear. Misio is a 7.5 year old Australian Shepherd who is currently on a diet to get to his ideal weight of about 37 pounds. Misio is looking for a patient and mature household to live the rest of his years. He is working through some trust issues and is learning to let his guard down. But once he knows you are safe, he will be yours forever. Misio likes to be near people but isnt overly cuddly, he is content to be in his own space near you. He'd do best in a home with adults only and no other animals. Misio is still very active and he would love to be your hiking, camping, or running companion! He is very outgoing and loves to chase a ball around the yard. He is also very smart and picks up on training quickly. Misio needs a forever home that can provide him with mental stimulation and a physical outlet. He can be chill in the house, but is also not a couch potato. He is house trained and crate trained and walks well on leash. With a little bit of training, a dash of patience, and a person who will be active with him, Misio will be an amazing companion for years to come! Dogs are not placed on a first- come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. ALL CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting Misio, please fill out an online application at https://caws.org/adoption-application If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at https://caws.org/adoption-applicationAugust 20, 2024, 7:05 am

Story
Kayli came to her foster mom sick and at a very unhealthy weight. After a lengthy nutrition and weight loss program this adorable girl is ready to find her forever home! She was at a point where she could barely walk and now she loves a nice race around the backyard or to fetch her toys for you. She is a supreme cuddle bug and can't get close enough to her people. Tummy rubs might be her favorite thing and if you pet her she will adorably fling herself to the ground to better accommodate you. She loves walks but is also content to just stay home with you, too. She does have a problem with excited barking but she calms down after a short time. She just loves every single person she meets and can't control her excitement at first. She also loves children and children love her but because of her initial excited barking she can sometimes scare them so an initial leash greeting would be best with small children. She loves other dogs but if they get in her face too much she can sometimes be a little snippy. She has done well in her foster home with another older dog and, for a short stint, she had a blast with a big, goofy young boy that was recently adopted. Kayli has a 'cherry eye' (where the tear duct has popped out under the eyelid) that her owner chose not to fix as it doesn't bother her at all, but because of that it has been too long to do anything about it. It doesn't bother her and requires no attention. Would like to meet this cute girl?Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Story
Riley Ray is a 8 year 60 pound Australian Shepherd eloquent and majestic gal, tri colored. She is totally house trained, gets along with all the other dogs in her foster home, male and female, big and small. Riley Ray came to be a CAWS dog as an owner surrender from a very high kill shelter in NM. We don’t know the circumstances after eight years she had to be surrendered but we are utterly the most fortunate rescue to be able to find this magnificent lady a new forever home and life. She is perfect, still has energy and helps her foster mom and the other furkids work during the day, she is such a talent in the work force, whew. She gets in a crate when it is time to eat and then out when she is done to go out and do her business. She has not had a single accident in her foster home, wonderful wonderful girl Riley has no known medical concerns or issue, woo hoo. Riley lounges on the carpet til she gets let out in the back yard. Her foster mom tried to get her to come on the couch with everyone else but so far she hasn’t, she may feel more comfortable and join everyone later on. She rides wonderfully in the car, sits in the backseat. This magnificent lady just needs to find the home she can call her own, which she is so deserving of. She will need occasional brushings or a spa day to stay beautiful. If you are looking for a glorious gal to be an unconditional friend, please make arrangements for a meet and greet.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Story
Hello future best friend! My name is Nia and literally all I want out of life is to be snuggled all day long. Humans are my all time favorite thing and no matter who you are, I will ask for pets and belly rubs as soon as I meet you. Even my vet wanted to take me home because I was so sweet. I am pretty smart and thus easy to train and work with too. I love other big dogs and will chase them around but always come back for pets between playtimes. I bark a bit when left alone (because I am missing my humans) but I am making huge strides to being quiet when I’m on my own. I am crate trained, house trained, leash trained and willing to learn anything else. If you are looking for a Velcro dog to hang out with you all day and smother you with love I am your gal.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
