Hello out there. My name is Peridot and nothing about my life has been easy. I grew up in a home that didn't provide the socialization or daily interactions I needed to feel safe and confident; as an adult dog I've had to learn things that I should have mastered as a puppy. I went straight from that environment to the shelter after the death of my owner and the hard life I thought I knew, got even harder. It has taken my months to come out of my shell and get to this point and I feel like I can go further. For the first time in my life I feel like I have potential and that I was made for so much more. I'm just going to let you know right now, this won't be easy. I'm probably not the dog you always dreamed of but that doesn't mean I'm any less deserving. I would feel most comfortable in a home without children and I think I would adjust best to a home with other dogs. I'm asking for your patience, your kindness and consideration after all that I've been through. I think we could rescue each other.

Story
Riot was bought from a reputable breeder in our area when he was a baby, he is now 2 years old. When we first got Riot, he was in a house with 4 other dogs, all of whom he would roughly play and fight with. After leaving that house he was in a home with 1 other dog and did very well until we got a puppy. From that point on he has become aggressive and had issues with fighting not only the puppy who is now grown but the other dog he used to get along with. We also have a cat that he gets along with very well so a home with maybe one other dog or cats would be perfect for him. He is a very loving dog and loves to cuddle and sit with you on the couch or bed he just does not get along with multiple other dogs at the same time. He is very energetic and lived a cage-free life on a farm so he needs space to run around but he would need to be retrained on not running away after being in a fenced in yard for the last year.
