We instantly adored Splits from the moment we spotted her back in December at Chicago Animal Care and Control. She is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. We are so happy we had an awesome foster home available to host her over the past few weeks.
Splits's foster mom says she is "perfect"-- she gets along with the other dogs in the home and if anything is slightly too submissive. She is also nice to the cats, but does not realize they do not necessarily want to be her friend! She does well left to free roam and can also be crated. She is mostly housebroken. The great thing about her too is how very food motivated she is-- she will do anything for a treat and is eager to please, which is a great combo for training! Splits is super cute with her stuffed toys, and likes to carry them around wagging her tail, which is quite long and actually pretty strong, so the force of it wags her entire body. But it is so cute how proud she is of her stuffies!
Splits recently spent a few days in another foster home with a 3 year old child and absolutely loved him, and vice versa.
Splits does not have a mean bone in her body and wants only to love and be loved. She is a gem!
Her foster mom felt inspired to write a poem about Splits, we hope you enjoy and inquire about her today!
Hello!
My name is Splits!
My name really fits!
I am really super smart;
I have a big heart;
I'm famous for my nose art;
and I blame the boy dogs when I fart!
At 6 months old and Happy-Go-Lucky;
No bath of mine requires a rubber ducky!
I love to please and obey;
So you and I have a good day!
I am fully vetted and spayed;
I'm ready to come home with you and play!
I am great at the dog park;
Because I never ever bark.
I'm learning to walk on a leash;
All my training goals are in reach.
I love other dogs and have so much fun;
I also love to bask in the sun.
I am tail-wagging happy with a bone;
and I self-entertain when I am on my own.
I play nice with others;
Whether they are sisters or brothers!
I am gentle and kind;
This Valentine's Day, could you be mine?
Come and meet me at adoption events;
Heartland Animal Shelter, I represent!
Splits’s adoption fee is $250. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
