Story
Riley is a 6 year old beagle. She is super sweet and loving. She loves to have her spot on the couch and look outside. She gets along great with our other dog and our cats. She has become very jealous and acting out around the baby. She does great with kids, I think she’d be best in a home with either older kids or somewhere she can be main focus. She is really an amazing addition to our family but she deserves to be the center of attention just like she would love. She wants to be laying on the couch all day and is very laid back.

Story
Hi, I am Rex; I am energetic and really looking for another dog to play with! I don't think I have ever met a dog I don't like. I love going on hikes and exploring with my current parents. When the day is done I look forward to hanging out and cuddling on the couch if I am allowed. Little kids do scare me though. I really love my 3-year-old human brother and playing with him, but when more kids come around, I don't like it as much.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.A VERY SPECIAL NOTE TO YOU FROM MAY'S FOSTER;  May is a sweet 5 yr old, 30 lb beagle.  She loves to be by your side: whether sitting with you when you read or work on the computer, hang out with you when doing things around the house or yard, and taking car rides.  I recently took a long 1 day trip and she was a great passenger and companion for the day. She is very good with recall. May loves to play fetch and walks well on a leash. Since she loves to play fetch and run, a fenced yard would be nice for her. May is crate trained and good with house breaking. She has been dog selective so she may be best as an only dog. She he loves people so much and would be very happy if someone works from home or is retired.  I think she thinks she is a little person. If you would like a loyal companion and someone to love, May may be the girl for you. May is a girl on the smaller side of medium and filled with beagle genes.  She has many of the wonderful beagle traits which have made the breed so very popular for decades. You will enjoy taking her for walks and watching her play in your backyard, ears flapping in the breeze as she chases that stick. She is the type of dog who likes to please her people and she will try hard to do what you want her to because that is who she is. She has all her shots and is hoping someone will come for her so she can have her own family to love once again. She says to ask you to bring toys when you come to see her! NOTE: As May is a hound, we are hoping for a home with a physical fence so she and her inquisitive nose will be safe. Beagles LOVE to follow their noses. DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Ruger is 3yo, weighs 28lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccines, but is not microchipped.  Ruger's guardian adds:  "He's the best snuggle buddy and would love to be able to sleep in bed with you!  Daily walks are a must, he needs some adventure time before cuddling on the couch.  He can't be left unattended for even a minute in a fenced yard because he will very quickly dig out!  He does well during car rides, but dislikes/fears crates and being left alone.  NOTE:  A requirement of his adoption will be enrolling him in a training program with a professional dog trainer.  Beagle experience would be great!" Ruger's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him: "I took Ruger in 2 years ago and soon realized his previous owner gave him no training what so ever.  I’ve been struggling with him in my home because I have other dogs that feed off of his wild child energy and it’s causing a lot of issues within my pack.  Which is making it even more difficult to train him." Ruger's guardian offers a brief a medical history:  "He is currently taking fluoxetine for separation anxiety." Ruger's guardian states the following regarding children:  Although Ruger has lived with children (currently with a small baby, formerly with children 1-9yo), his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children, stating: "He’s affectionate with kids but will steal their food.  He also sometimes growls when you move him when he’s laying down, he’s never bitten or snapped, but that may scare a child.  Children visiting would be fine but a child free home would probably be best." Ruger's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Ruger lives with dogs, so his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "He will howl at dogs outside the home and on walks.  Does fine with proper introduction". Ruger's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Ruger lives with cats, so his guardian recommends his living with cats, stating "He might howl if he sees one outside but leaves my cats alone". Ruger's guardian describes him as: Very active Barks alot Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Always at your side Indoor dog Likes men Likes women Separation anxiety Digger Ruger's guardian describes his ideal future home: "Ruger's perfect home would be a less busy household (without other dogs or maybe just 1 other dog) where he can have more time committed to just him. Someone that can provide him better structure that he needs and he’d greatly benefit from a good training program because he’s smart and willing to learn."  Rehoming Fee:  None Location:  Edgewood, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1. Story
Playful!MEET Willy! This playful beagle mix guy is estimated to be between 1 and 2 years old and weighs 35 lbs. Willy is true to the words that described his ancestors – a beloved and iconic canine breed. He was surrendered to the shelter from a home where he, another adult dog and seven puppies were living when the family could no longer care for them and gave them the chance to find a better life. Lucky for us and his future adopters,  the Anne Arundel shelter asked for rescue assistance and he became a Tara’s House dog.   Willy is quickly settling into his foster home and is a big fan of toys and playing! He is nearly house broken and just like any toddler, only has accidents because he’s so excited playing that he forgets to let his person know it is time to go outside.  He is being crate trained and is adjusting to his safe space nicely. He spends his nights peacefully and quietly inside his crate.  He also loves the cushy bed his foster mom gave him and decided this life is better than living in the shelter.  He is learning to walk nicely on a leash and is working on mastering simple commands like sit and stay. He is super smart, is catching on quickly and will be adding more commands to his repertoire.   Willy is very silly and loves to run and steal toys from his foster dog sister but what he loves more is playing with his foster kitty. Lounging on the couch with both is a close second.  Willy also enjoys going to the dog park, running with his pals and rolling in the grass. He enjoys riding in a car where there is so much to see out the window!  He would be a great addition to any home as he does well with cats, other dogs and people of all sizes. He will be a wonderful pet in a home where the adopters will have patience with him as he continues to learn and will provide obedience training to help him along the way.  Willy’s adoption donation fee is $400, which includes his neuter, routine vetting and his microchip.  You can apply for Willy by filling out our online application at www.tarashouse.org. Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions. August 16, 2024, 11:56 am
