Benny has never met a stranger. He loves almost everyone he meets, although he is a little anxious around small children. He is great with other dogs. His personality has been described as goofy. Do you see his beautiful Bette Davis eyes? Benny would make a great second dog. Benny had a fractured leg. He has had FHO surgery 3/2023 and is all healed. He puts weight on the leg but may have a limp. Katie T. has become Benny's Guardian Angel In Honor of her Grandmother. Benny comes to us from a crowded rural southwestern Virginia shelter.  Breed: beagle/hound Gender: Male DOB: approximately 5/2022 Size potential: 35 pounds PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Then Hershey is the dog for you! While he may be on the older side, Hershey is still filled with love. He adores people, especially if you give him a fluff-filled toy to play with! While Hershey still likes to play and go on walks, he usually has a more calm and laid-back attitude. To him, there is nothing better than "chillaxing" after a long day. Hershey also loves attention from his owner. From cuddles to pets, he is looking for someone who will always be there for him. His legs may be little, but his heart is big! Hershey is just like the chocolate: sweet and classic. He will be happy to meet you, and greet you with a wagging tail and a big smile! So come see Hershey today, and you'll be sure to fall in love!

To learn more about our upcoming events and to see which event they will be attending, please visit our event page at https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/ (*please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending which events*) Did someone say "Good Girl?" That is one of Hope's favorite phrases. She also loves to hear "treat" and "walk", because, after all, she is a beagle... Hope loves to be outside and around others and has the funniest smile and silliest expressions. Hope is a very sweet senior beagle. She is very friendly, especially with adults, older kids and other dogs. She is good-natured and wants to say hello to everyone. Hope gets a little carried away with stuffy toys, so she prefers Kong or other tough chewable toys to keep her busy. Hope would love a home where someone is around a good deal of time. She's a quiet dog, but prefers the company. She is also looking for a family that can help her keep her healthy vegan lifestyle to stay youthful and allergy free in her golden years. Can anyone give this sweet beagle a home?

Story
Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet boy ISO fresh start and love!QUINN NEEDS A FOSTER OR A FOREVER HOME!!!!    Name:  Quinn         Best Guess for Breed:  Beagle and hound mix    Best Guess for Age:   4 years as of March 2024        SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight: 20 lbs   Gets Along With: He has lived with young kids and did well with one that was dog savvy. He might chase a cat, but a dog savvy cat might be OK.   Currently Living at:  DC area boarding partner -- needs a foster or forever home!!   Check out this video of Quinn: https://youtu.be/7r9XgReX8rU.   Special adoption considerations: Quinn is shy and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog to show him the ropes. We would be cautious placing him in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.   Quinn is Looking For: His forever family! This sweetie had a home and ended up in the shelter due to no fault of his own. He's looking forward to his new chapter, eagerly awaiting all the sniffy walks he will get with his new humans (that beagle nose!), romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up. He's well out of the puppy yips But is still a very active boy who will need daily running or playtime with other dogs. Quinn likes having someone around most of the time. Dude, who has breeds tendency to be vocal, Quinn might not be the ideal apartment dog.   At the top of Quinn‘s wish list is to be safe, loved and under his own roof.  In exchange, he offers all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags he's stockpiling at the shelter - lots of laughs at his doggy antics - and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Is Quinn the one for your home and your heart? What My Foster Says About Me: Quinn is a very sweet, playful, and energetic guy who loves gong for long sniffy walks. He is most comfortable with dogs his own size and is a bit fearful of strange men. Quinn is a smart dog who enjoys learning new things. Quinn has learned sit and stay; he is currently working on leave it and down.  Foster update 6/04/2024: Quinn is a playful and affectionate pup. He is pretty shy and scared around new people and crowds. At home he takes some time to warm up, but once he trusts you he's very very sweet. He'll follow you around and sleep quietly while you work, or snuggle with you when you're on the couch. He's great with dogs and loves to chase and wrestle.  He's responded well to crate training during the night and sleeps quietly. He's treat-motivated and smart, responsive to corrections and has good recall. He knows outside is the bathroom and hasn't had any accidents inside. Quinn does great in car rides; he goes to sleep and is not bothered at all. Because he's shy and scared in big crowds, he doesn't do well at adoption events. He will need a home with people who have the patience, time and love to continue his leash training and people socialization. Quinn has so much love to give, adopting him will be adding a great friend. Foster Update 813/2024: He’s nervous around people but has settled in well with my husband, other dog, and I. As he gets more comfortable you see his spunky side. He’s a ball of energy and has a lot of love to give. Quinn likes to snuggle as much as he enjoys playing and sniffing about. He likes to be close to people and hangs out under my desk with my dog as I work. He has a bit of an overbite which causes his lips to get stuck on his teeth occasionally which is absolutely adorable. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Please contact Chandler Jaffe (chandler.jaffe@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet girl ISO fresh start and love! LUCY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Lucy    Best Guess for Breed:  Beagle mix Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of July 2024       Gender: Female Approximate Weight:   31 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be testedCurrently Living At: South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here! Special Adoption Considerations: Lucy is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Lucy is Looking For: From the time Lucy arrived in the shelter, she has been a super, super sweet girl. Even though she was scared and shy, she just kept on giving love and she has come such a long way! Her progress has been amazing. She is eagerly looking forward to getting her own humans for long sniffy walks (that beagle nose!) and all the adventures her new family can dream up. Trips to the beach, the mountains, the local fire hydrant - that all sounds great to her, and she's looking for humans who will help show her all that at her pace.  She gets along with other dogs - is a generally a submissive dog. She'd do great in a home with or without another dog. Bottom line: She just wants to love and be loved. What do you say? Is this sweetie the companion you have been seeking? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet young girl ISO fresh start and love! ASHTON NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!    Come meet Ashton and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Aug. 18th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Falls Church (6100A Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)! Name:  Ashton       Best Guess for Breed:  beagle/hound mix Best Guess for Age: 7 months as of May 2024       SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:  20 lbs as of 5/23/24; she is still growing   Gets Along With:  Ashton does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested. We would be cautious placing her in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.     Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Special Adoption Considerations: Because Ashton is shy, she needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. We would be cautious placing Ashton in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.   Ashton is Looking For:   Ashton and her sisters Dumpling and Emalee are the sweetest, most kissy girls ever. They need to give and get love from humans the same way they need to breathe - they are just so affectionate! They weren't well socialized in the outside world when they were puppies, so right now they can be pretty nervous when they're out on leash. Because they are so incredibly love-motivated and treat-motivated, though, they bond with loving humans quickly and will also acclimate to new environments with the right support from patient humans. Ashton is doing beautifully at coming out of her shell and having a canine sibling will help her grow more confident. Ashton has a calm and gentle play style when interacting with other dogs. A note: Do not for one second consider adopting this sweetie if you do not want a lap dog or dislike dog kisses. This is not a dog for those who don't want an onslaught of love and affection.  What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once she has spent more time with her foster! Through no fault of his own, this cutie ended up in the shelter. He is full of fun, young dog energy and is ready to have his own humans to trot alongside on sniffy walks, romps in local parks, and all the adventures they can dream up! Exploring all the toys sounds great too, as well as some delicious kibble and a cushy dog bed.     Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof every time the sun goes down. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes, cuddles, and loyal companionship for all his days.   What do you say? Is Freddie the companion you've been seeking? What My Foster Says About Me:  Freddie is very playful, high energy, LOVES toys, walks, hiking and running. He is very sweet and snuggly when he tires out. He can need redirection to toys when playing but takes the direction well. Key for Freddie is stability, consistency, activity, and schedule. He is a good candidate for an active person who works from home with flexibility or doggie daycare during the day to get out his energy. After a day of playing and fun, he is such a snuggle bug!
