Quinn has learned sit and stay; he is currently working on leave it and down. Foster update 6/04/2024: Quinn is a playful and affectionate pup. He is pretty shy and scared around new people and crowds. At home he takes some time to warm up, but once he trusts you he's very very sweet. He'll follow you around and sleep quietly while you work, or snuggle with you when you're on the couch. He's great with dogs and loves to chase and wrestle. He's responded well to crate training during the night and sleeps quietly. He's treat-motivated and smart, responsive to corrections and has good recall. He knows outside is the bathroom and hasn't had any accidents inside. Quinn does great in car rides; he goes to sleep and is not bothered at all. Because he's shy and scared in big crowds, he doesn't do well at adoption events. We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be testedCurrently Living At: South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here! Special Adoption Considerations: Lucy is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.
