Story
Meet Lincoln....... Lincoln is an adorable young boy, thought to be a Border Collie Mix. Like Border Collies, he’s very smart, a quick learner, very alert and quite energetic!! At age 9 months, he weighs 38 lbs. It is most important to note that we cannot be 100% sure of his adult weight, but our best guess is about 40ish lbs. This handsome boy joined BAARK from an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky earlier this year. He is thought to have been born around December 23, 2022. He was a scared little puppy when entering our rescue program but has come out of his shell and has evolved into a playful, sociable, and somewhat mischievous boy. Lincoln is great with dogs outside of his foster home, but can be protective of his home and human, indoors. Most likely Lincoln would prefer being an only dog, receiving all the attention he deserves. However he could to ok with a calm easy-going female. He would probably be far too energetic for a senior (dog or human!) An ideal family for Lincoln is one able to assimilate the energy of a young boy into its lifestyle and is willing to commit the time to working with and training Lincoln to be his best self! A secure, above-ground fenced yard is important. Lincoln would not thrive as an apartment dweller. Lincoln is crate-trained and is working on good house manners (housebreaking). He is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative. He is neutered and microchipped as well. . For information about adding this adorable boy to your family please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the far NW suburbs of Chicago and adopts local to this area.

Story
I’d like to introduce Topo, our dog. He was originally our daughter’s dog, but due to rental restrictions, she was unable to keep him and left him with us. Our home is small, and with both of us working, we’re unable to give him the time and attention he deserves. He’s an amazing dog, and we’re looking to rehome him with a family who has the space, time and energy to keep up with him and give him the love he needs.

Story
Chance, a stray found in Louisiana, is a big, lovable boy! A smooth-coated mix, he has one blue eye and one brown eye. Chance enjoys playing with other dogs and lives with two Italian greyhounds at his foster home. He's good in the car and loves people! Chance is a big sweetie. If you’re looking for an all around friend that will make you smile and laugh, Chance is your guy. He LOVES car rides, walks, toys, tug, and fetch. For a BC he is moderate to low energy. After a half hour play he is the sweetest cuddle buddy one could ask for. He plays well with other dogs and would do well with a K-9 companion and in a home where he can get his daily walks in. He knows basic commands and is learning more. He does well with cats and is initially a bit shy around new folks but quick to warm up. His playful nature will make anyone smile and lighten up anyone’s day. He is the perfect balance of fun and cuddles and will be his new families very best friend. Why not take a chance with Chance?! He has sit, down, shake, learned. We will work on leave it next. He’s smart. Took him to the high school tennis courts today I stead of our hike and played ball. He had a blast! Story
Laika is 36 lbs and 3-4 years old. This sweet girl loves chasing and often retrieving balls in the house and outdoors. She loves to sniff around off-leash in a fenced back yard. Turn on your garden sprinkler and she will be entertained and exercised. Laika initiates belly runs and gives kisses to her foster mom as a thank you. Laika is more dominant than Layla and has a strong herding drive, so we recommend a home with no children, cats or small critters. She's a little nervous meeting new people and dogs, which we are working on. Laika is spayed and fully vaccinated. She will need a fenced yard and an experienced handler with a strong understanding of the breed and a willingness to provide lots of exercise and tennis balls. Story
Falcon has come a long way since we first met her. She is really starting to show her personality! She takes everything in stride but definitely is cautious about new things. She has to trust first and know that her people will take it slow, she looks for guidance/reassurance. Her rehab is coming along wonderfully. She is using her back leg more and more (instead of bunny hopping). Learning the stairs was a piece of cake and we go very slow so she uses the back leg. Her fur has almost fully grown back in where she had the surgery. She enjoys massages on the back leg after we do a good workout. Falcon loves to go for walks and does excellent on leash. She enjoys sniffing around and exploring. She is very observant of her surroundings and will let you know what she may see that you cannot. For example when walking at night, she will often see other walkers or animals in the dark and alert us before we even see them. She has met kids 8 and older and has done fine with them, especially taking treats. She is very gentle when taking treats. Some favorites of hers are walking, petting, a good stuffed Kong, chews, cheese and a good nap. She loves her orthopedic bed but will also choose her crate to nap in as well. Falcon enjoys having other dogs around. A confident, sweet, bottom of the pack dog (like Easton) is what she prefers. She would not do well with one that would challenge her. She likes to mouth, wrestle (restricted right now to short interactions) and play tug. The best way to describe her is an "old soul". While she is only in her 3's (best guess) it was a hard start and she seemed to have aged a bit. She is still learning how to be a dog but each day we see a little more about who she is! She is a hard one to capture photos of as she is very serious when "thinking" but once she lets her guard down, that's when we see her smile and relax. Falcon is currently being fostered with Easton.....check out his story as well! Falcon is a beautiful red/white Border Collie who is part of the Lucky 13 rescued from a hoarding situation. From what we know, a pack of dogs was running loose on the property and at times they would beat each other up pretty severely. When she was rescued, her back right leg was "locked up" and she didn't use much of it. We had a FHO surgery done on her to give her comfort and the mobility she needs. Each day she is putting more and more weight on her back leg. Falcon is a very very sweet girl.....once she gains your trust. She is wary at first and doesn't necessarily like fast movement as she will scurry away. Once she does trust, she likes the attention, especially ear rubs and body rubs. She can easily fall asleep with the attention. Falcon walks well on leash and enjoys her time outside while we are out there. I would say that she is pretty much house broken (not one accident since she has been here!) We are not sure how she is with other dogs. She is being fostered with Easton and they share the same room but are separated by gates and also can go nose-to-nose at times. She is fine with him. We have not yet introduced her to others while she is recovering from the surgery. We suspect with the right match, she would enjoy a dog pal or could live alone and enjoy her person all to herself. She is looking for a person or family who understands the needs of a dog who has had a rough start and can focus on how to give her the space she needs to grow but gently teach her how to be a dog. She has not been cat tested. Not suitable for a condo or apartment setting. More to come as time progresses. Please see Falcon and his friends at our web page. https://www.midwestbordercollierescue.org/alldogs Location: Northern Illinois Contact: team@midwestbordercollierescue.org

Story
1/28/25 Ohhhh Easton.....he is one cool dude! A fun and goofy character is how we best describe him. He is young and wants to learn and once he learns it, he gets excited about what a good boy he is! He is very motivated by food which helps! He has met kids ages 8 and up and does well. He is very gentle when taking treats. Easton has adapted well to inside life and I think he rather enjoys it! We are usually greeted with "happy feet", tail wags and jumping up on us for a hug. While I do not usually encourage the jumping, we let him get away with it because we are excited that he has opened up to be comfortable with people instead of hiding. He likes going for long walks, running in the yard and a good nap. He is curious about everything. Sudden movements and loud noises still spook him but he recovers quickly and gets back to what he was doing. He is hard to capture photos of because when you get to his level - he comes bounding over for kisses and petting. Easton is ready to meet his forever home....are you it? He is looking for a gentle confident dog to play with and show him the way or can be in a home by himself with someone who will take it slow with him to build his confidence and do other activities. He is currently being fostered with Falcon....check out her story too! Easton is one of the Lucky 13 brought in from a hoarding situation. He is a goofy boy and watching his progress daily is amazing. Don't get me wrong - he is super shy and nervous but with lots of patience, he will come out of his shell. Easton gets along with other dogs but will need a confident dog friend to help him. We do not have cats so do not know how he would get along with them. Easton is learning how to live inside a home. So far he is doing well. He is a little unsure on hardwood floors and going around corners but is learning. Easton has mastered the stairs up and down. He also has learned how to wear a collar and walk on leash. He is pulling less and less each day and is looking to his person for confidence. We are working on recall and as he progresses so does the distance we give him on the leash. Easton is looking for a person or family who understands the needs of a dog who has had a rough start and can focus on how to give him the space he needs to grow but gently teach him how to be a dog. Not suitable for a condo or apartment setting. Please reach out for more info and watch for updates as he develops in his foster home. Please Visit Easton and all his friends on our web page. https://www.midwestbordercollierescue.org/alldogs Location: Northern Illinois Contact: team@midwestbordercollierescue.org

Story
Libby is sure a unique-looking young girl; how can anyone not love her huge ears!! She is thought to be an Australian Kelpie Mix (possibly with Bull Terrier). She weighs about 30 lbs. Her estimated date of birth is June 5th 2023. Libby is a typical puppy, very energetic and playful. She likes to jump and can sometimes forget herself and be a little too rough with other dogs. But….…she is young and needs to learn boundaries and manners in order to evolve into a wonder family member with a forever family she so deserves.. This sweet pup likes playing with other dogs; she’s great with dogs and would enjoy the companionship of another dog in the home. Most likely, a young or middle-aged adult dog would prefer his company much more so than a senior dog. An ideal family for Libby is one able to assimilate the enthusiasm and playfulness of a puppy into their lifestyle and is willing to commit the time to working with and training Libby to be her best self! A secure fenced yard is required; another younger or middle-aged pup in the family could also be advantageous. Libby is crate-trained and is working hard to improve her house manners (housebreaking). She is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, is on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Her spay is included in her adoption fee. Story
Meet Cadbury Cadbury has sure had a tough few years. A few months ago, he found himself at a high-kill shelter when his owner could no longer care for him. It was not the first time he ended up homeless and alone…through no fault of his own. Cadbury is a special boy, just 7 years old and about 38 lbs; he's small and compact, and a little stocky. We are not sure of his breed…could be a Cattle Dog/Lab Mix? He looks like a giant Chihuahua. He's a special-needs pup because he is missing his front right leg which became mangled about a year ago, and could not be saved. While sometimes difficult to get around, he does ok overall. Most challenging for him is going up and down stairs. As such, a ranch-style home or other one-level home would be best for him. Cadbury loves attention and enjoys the company of people. He also enjoys hanging out with other dogs, of all sizes. He is good with cats too. Cadbury enjoys car rides and is a very well-mannered passenger. Overall this sweet boy is a great dog, deserving of a loving and compassionate family of his own. Cadbury is up-to-date on all vetting, including vaccinations, is heartworm negative and on year-round heartworm prevention. He’s neutered and microchipped. Cadbury is housebroken as well. If you are interested in adding this precious boy to your family, please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895 for more information and an adoption application. Note that BAARK is located in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago; we adopt local to our area.
