Story
Location: Decatur, IL Emerald is a puppy mill survivor! She is still learning the ways of being a pet and adjusting to life in a home. Emerald is sometimes shy and insecure with strangers (especially men) and will bark at them. Her new family will need to understand this and take things slow when introducing new people and having guests. We recommend short visits that are positive to help her be ok with new people. Emerald has discovered all the joys of toys and likes to play with them. She spins in circles when she is happy or excited. She loves other dogs and will lay next to them. She thinks every dog is her friend, even if they have different feelings about it. Emerald is not sure about grass but is getting a little more comfortable with being outside. She likes to lay on the concrete in the sun. She gets along great with other dogs and will play with them, but she can also entertain herself. She is good with snuggles from people but is unsure about being picked up and will run away at first. This should get better with time and as she learns to trust. Emerald is considered a flight risk and will need a secure physical fence to keep her safe. Someone with mill dog experience is needed or another canine companion in the dog. Another dog will help her continue her studies in being a pet. Emerald's adoption fee is $375. She is spayed and current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. NOTE: WE ARE A VOLUNTEER RAN ORGANIZATION AND OUR APPLICATION PROCESS CAN TAKE 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS, DEPENDING ON OUR AVAILIBILITY AND YOUR REFERENCES. ALL OF OUR DOGS ARE IN FOSTER HOMES AND NOT AT A CENTRAL LOCATION. AN APPROVED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE WE DO MEET AND GREETS. WE DO NOT SHIP OR TRANSPORT DOGS. YOU MUST COME TO THE LOCATION OF THE DOG TO MEET AND ADOPT.

Story
Location Decatur, IL Application at leiashope.org Frankie is a happy, boisterous, and friendly guy! He loves to play with other dogs and chase them in the yard. He's not very fast so he never wins the game of tag! hahaha Frankie enjoys hanging out on the couch and snuggling but he gets hot pretty easily and so doesn't spend a lot of time up close. He likes to lay in dog beds or the cool floor. In the summer, he likes to sleep with a fan on him. He is a great little car rider and enjoys looking out the window. He is excited to get to his next destination and meet new people. Frankie will bark when meeting new dogs, but it is mostly out of excitement. To be so little, he has a big bark! Frankie does ok on a leash, but pulls as he just wants to explore. Frankie is all boy, and keeping this white coat is a challenge. He likes to run through mud, stick his face in the dirt, and roll in smelly things. He needs his eyes and chin wiped daily to help with staining. Frankie is on a balanced raw dog food diet. He was weened on raw and when he got older we tried to put him on kibble but he had constant ear infections and his tear stains got really bad. We switched him back to raw and no more ear infections and his eyes are much better! He should stay on this diet or something similar (like perhaps the Farmers Dog). The extra you spend in food will save you from frequent vet visits. If you have questions about raw or his diet, please speak with us. If you insist on dry kibble, then Frankie is not the dog for you. Frankie is such a delight to have around and does not disappoint when it comes to fun and a great personality. Frankie would really enjoy having a playmate. He has been great with the foster's 2 year old granddaughter, so kids are in his list of most liked people, and he also has been great around dogs of all sizes. Frankie has an extra toe on his back feet. It doesn't interfere with his mobility and will likely never cause any problems, just one more nail to clip :) Frankie's adoption is $550. He gets neutered Nov 23, current on all vaccines, microchipped, and on flea and heart worm prevention. Applications at leiashope.org NOTE: WE ARE A VOLUNTEER RAN ORGANIZATION AND OUR APPLICATION PROCESS CAN TAKE 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS, DEPENDING ON OUR AVAILIBILITY AND YOUR REFERENCES. YOU MUST COME TO THE LOCATION OF THE DOG TO MEET AND ADOPT. Dogs are a commitment for THEIR lifetime. For puppies this could be 15 years. If YOU cannot commit to the lifetime of the DOG, please do not apply.
