Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Little Scooter is the perfect little middle aged boy with a true rags to riches story! Sadly he was found abandoned and in very poor condition, but thankfully was rescued and then brought into a loving foster home with us and is now ready for his forever home! He is a such a sweet, laid back boy who is house trained (despite the initial marking, that has subsided quickly). He loves to play toys, and enjoys the company of other dogs and cats, but doesn't have to have them. He loves to go on walks and doesn't pull on leash; he truly is the perfect little guy! Pekingese

Decatur, IL
Size
(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
Details
Not good with kids, Good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Location: Decatur, IL Requires a secure physical fenced yard, another dog or puppy mill experience. Alice is a puppy mill survivor! She is still learning the ways of being a pet and adjusting to life in a home. Alice is shy and insecure with strangers (especially men) and will bark at them. Her new family will need to understand this and take things slow when introducing new people and having guests. We recommend short visits that are positive to help her be ok with new people. She would not be suited in a home that has many guests. Alice likes to survey her world perched on a chair or couch and this probably makes her feel safer as she can see more. She has accepted and enjoys attention from her foster mom and will sit on her lap and be petted and brushed. She is foster mom's shadow and follows her everywhere and gets under foot, making her less than ideal for someone with mobility problems. Alice does not currently interact a lot with the resident dog but she watches and she is learning. It is recommended another dog be in the home or someone who has experience with puppy mill dogs. Alice prefers to be near her person at night and can sleep in a crate as long as she can see her foster mom. Alice is considered a flight risk and will need a secure physical fence to keep her safe. Alice's adoption fee is $375. She will be spayed and receive a dental April 26 and ready to go home the first weekend in May. She is current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process. NOTE: WE ARE A VOLUNTEER RAN ORGANIZATION AND OUR APPLICATION PROCESS CAN TAKE 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS, DEPENDING ON OUR AVAILIBILITY AND YOUR REFERENCES. ALL OF OUR DOGS ARE IN FOSTER HOMES AND NOT AT A CENTRAL LOCATION. AN APPROVED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE WE DO MEET AND GREETS. WE DO NOT SHIP OR TRANSPORT DOGS. YOU MUST COME TO THE LOCATION OF THE DOG TO MEET AND ADOPT.

Story
Location: Decatur, IL Emerald is a puppy mill survivor! She is still learning the ways of being a pet and adjusting to life in a home. Emerald is sometimes shy and insecure with strangers (especially men) and will bark at them. Her new family will need to understand this and take things slow when introducing new people and having guests. We recommend short visits that are positive to help her be ok with new people. Emerald has discovered all the joys of toys and likes to play with them. She spins in circles when she is happy or excited. Emerald is not sure about grass but is getting a little more comfortable with being outside. She likes to lay on the concrete in the sun. She gets along great with other dogs and will play with them, but she can also entertain herself. She is good with snuggles from people but is unsure about being picked up and will run away at first. This should get better with time and as she learns to trust. Emerald is considered a flight risk and will need a secure physical fence to keep her safe. Someone with mill dog experience is needed or another canine companion in the dog. Another dog will help her continue her studies in being a pet. Emerald's adoption fee is $375. She is spayed and current on vaccines and on monthly flea and heart worm prevention. Please visit leiashope.org for our adoption process.
