Story
Inca is looking for their forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS ABOUT ME: There is nothing Inca loves more than humans and thrives on human connection - she will greet everyone with her wagging tail and endearing looks. A true social butterfly, Inca is a favorite during walks, where she gladly accepts all the pets and praises showered upon her. She loves to spend her days going on long walks in the park, playing tug-of-war, looking out the window, and snoozing at home. She is an independent girl and will do well alone - some quality time outdoors with her people is all she needs to keep her happy. While Inca is generally great on her walks, she is learning to 'look at me' to help with her fear of big trucks. She has fairly good recall (though sometimes she cannot resist reaching the nearest human for pets) and is starting to get comfortable with being off leash outside so she can do what she loves the most - run free and play tag with her human in the park. Inca has been known to do fairly well in a crate in the past, but she is the best-behaved girl when left on her own, and will easily relax in her favorite spots at home. Though she loves to say hello and play with most dogs she meets, she is still learning to share and can get easily overwhelmed, and may be best suited as the only dog at home. Inca has spent her time in different homes, but she is a resilient girl - she is looking for a patient, forever home with people who can understand her sensitivities and give her the comfort she is craving for. ATTRIBUTES: Inca should not be placed in a home with children, but does well with children outside of the home. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. We strive to provide accurate information on all of our animals however, we are unable to guarantee an animal's breed, size, health, behavior, temperament, or any other conditions. Story
Finn is one year old. He is great with kids and is a cuddler. He has been trained at PetsMart and with a private in-home trainer, however, he is a bit of an escape artist. Since we live near a highway, it’s no longer safe for him to stay with us and we want him to go to a home that loves him as much as we do.

Story
Introducing Gomez, an adorable 10-month-old American Foxhound/Chinese Crested mix with a unique Foxl3 hairless gene. He will never shed! 😍 Gomez is already crate trained and is showing great progress with house training. He eagerly awaits your arrival home and has a slight habit of getting overly excited, but he quickly settles down. Gomez is an overall calm and well-behaved companion, who loves nothing more than snuggling up with his person on the sofa to watch television. He is incredibly friendly towards cats and other dogs, making him a great fit for multi-pet households. However, due to his exuberant nature, it's recommended that he be placed in a home with older children to prevent any accidental knocks or bumps with toddlers. Gomez is neutered, microchipped, and UTD on vaccinations. He is ready to bring joy and love to his new forever home! ❤️ RPACI is a non profit rescue, and currently possess our 501C3 to operate as such. Please visit us on Facebook: Rebecca's Paws and Claws in Remlap and our website: www.rpacirescue.org. All dogs from this rescue are transported from Alabama to the Pennsylvania/ New England/ Virginia area and delivered in Pennsylvania, Virginia and RI. Each dog will come fully vetted. Price also includes transportation and a Health Certificate as required by law. There is a 100.00 deposit required at the time of adoption to secure the transport crate. The remainder of the fee will be paid once you pick up the dog. Naturally the 100.00 comes off the total owed at pick up. It will be refunded if for any reason you decide you do not want to adopt, unless the transport has already left.with the dog. ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 40 lbs KNOWN WITH DOGS: Fern is a gentle dog and is friendly with other dogs. Fern would LOVE to find a home with another dog. KNOWN WITH CATS: Fern hasn't met any cats. We can find out. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Fern is a gentle, good natured dog and she does well with kids. KNOWN COMMANDS: Fern has been busy raising her babies so she hasn't focused on learning commands yet. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Fern is house trained. She hasn't been crated while she's cared for her babies and doesn't seem to like being confined in small spaces. KNOWN LIKES: Fern loves being with her humans. She is such a very gentle and good natured dog. KNOWN DISLIKES: We haven't identified any dislikes yet. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Fern came to Homeward Trails from a rural shelter as a very pregnanat young dog. She gave birth to adorable puppies soon after she came to us. Fern has been the best momma and a wonderfully sweet companion to her foster humans. The family who adopts her will be so lucky to get a loyal and sweet natured young dog. Fern is incredibly easy to fall in love with as she has a gentle, sweet composure. She is a tad skittish around new people and loud sudden noises but warms up quickly. She loves a good rub down especially around her ears and will paw her person to continue when they stop. She also loves playing with toys. As her mama duties are ending, she is starting to show her playful side. She is, after all, barely out of puppyhood herself. With her needing less time to attend to her puppies, Fern is now starting to learn commands. She has almost mastered "sit". Next up is learning to keep all four paws on the ground; Fern's an affectionate girl who is learning that jumping on her humans is a no-no. Fern sleeps in her dog bed near her foster's bed every night and wakes her foster up with her smile in the morning to be let out. She LOVES TO BE OUTSIDE! Fern will be happiest in a home with a fenced yard. Fern's maternal duties are almost at an end so she will be looking to move to her forever home very soon. Story
Granby is a handsome 8-year-old Foxhound/Beagle mix. He has had a lot of change in his life and is seeking new accommodations. First, his human died and then his best buddy who was a cat died. He finds himself a little out of sorts with folks who are keeping him safe but not dog people. He is house trained and walks well on leash. He is tentative about strangers coming to the house and needs to work on proper introductions or put in another room or crate if guests are over. Granby has 5 personal trainer sessions with a trainer who knows him that will transfer to his adopter (Falls Church, VA area, willing to travel in DMV area). His ideal home is a quiet one without children and lots of people coming and going. We are seeking an adopter who has Fox Hound or dog experience who knows how to show leadership to a pup. He weighs 70 pounds and is full grown. Adoption fee is waived, but approval process is not. Meet and greets are by appointment only with approved applicants. If you are interested in fostering to adopt, please fill out the online application: https://www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/adoption-request-form/ If you have been approved within the past 6 months and are interested in Granby, please reply to your approval email. Story
Major's been doing great in his foster home! He knows to potty outside and hasn’t had any accidents in the house, just some intentional marking which will dissipate after his neuter. Major is VERY playful. He loves to play with the 10 month old chihuahua puppy in the house. His foster mom has even taken him to the park with her friend's Bernese Mountain dogs and he got along great with them too. There have been no issues with the cats. He is a chewer but if you trade him a toy he is content gnawing on that. He’s a sweet boy and likes attention, but also entertains himself laying on the couch or playing with toys. Major is a sweet, affectionate, friendly, silly hound. If you're looking for a happy, joyful boy, Major may just be your perfect jam.

Story
Good with: Dogs, kids Not tested with: Cats House trained: Yes Energy level: Moderate Noise level: Quiet Hi, I'm Raven! My soulful eyes and gentle demeanor have won over the hearts of many, and I'm ready to find my forever family. My previous family couldn't say enough good things about me. They said I was the best dog for any family, and you know what? I believe them! I absolutely adore humans there's nothing I love more than snuggling up with my favorite people and basking in their affection. Unfortunately, my previous family's work hours changed, and they had to make the tough decision to return me to the shelter. But I'm staying positive! I know that there's a family out there just waiting to welcome me into their hearts and home. I'm a sweet and affectionate dog with a lot of energy. I absolutely adore people and other dogs, and I get along with everyone I meet. One of my favorite things about myself is how mellow and adaptable I am; I'm gentle and friendly, making me a great companion for both adults and kids. I'm proud to say that I have basic training and know commands like "sit," "come," and "leave it." I'm also housetrained and crate trained. On walks, I might pull on the leash a bit, but I love meeting strangers and other dogs. I'm generally quiet and rarely barkI've only barked once in the two weeks I've been here! I get along well with all dogs and play nicely at the dog park. While I'm great with kids, my tendency to jump when excited means I'd do better with older children until I learn to keep all four paws on the ground. I'm looking for a forever home where I can stay active and be surrounded by love. Could that be with you? My foster guardian says: She is very mellow and gets along with everyone and every dog she meets. Likes: Long walks, short walks, hikes, and trips to the dog park are some of my favorite activities. Dislikes: I do have a few dislikes; thunderstorms, fireworks, loud noises, and the vacuum can make me a bit nervous. My ideal home: I would thrive in an active family, and while a yard would be great, I've been doing just fine in a small apartment with plenty of exercise and play. I love kids (as long as they are older) and would thrive in a family with children. Please contact Melissa A Aten (melissaa@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.hound dog awooing for his forever family! HENRY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Henry    Best Guess for Breed:   Treeing Walker Coonhound mix   Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of June 2024        SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight: 58 lbs   Gets Along With:    Henry does well with other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested   Currently Living at:  Shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area after completing heartworm treatment! Special adoption considerations: Henry is a truly Lucky Dog! He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.   See this happy handsome boy in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spF6uMpiU98   Henry is Looking For:  Well, hi! I'm Henry! I'm just a good hound dog, with the typical hound's nose for adventure. I'd like to go to a home with someone whose able to take me on long, sniffy walks so I can inspect my neighborhood with my houndie nose. We live to sniff! I'd also like to be able to play with other pups sometimes. Most of all, though, I want to be safe and loved and know who my human is. What do you say? Am I the pup for you?   What My Foster Says About Me:  We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Maggie is Looking For: A loving family ready to keep a big  smile on that wonderful hound face!  Maggie's up for anything--ready to run and play with you and any dogs she meets,  and relax on the couch when the playing is done.   She's ready to give sloppy basset hound kisses if you'd like to give her home!   What My Foster Says About Me: will update when she has a foster!  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.
