Story
Hello, we have had Sunnie since 3months old. She is very mature and smart. She loves to have some attention and then she can do her own thing. She loves walks and runs. She is still learning heel but knows over 8 commands. Sit, lay, roll over, play dead (by saying bang bang) come, leave it, drop it, and fetch. She has many very great qualities and needs a good backyard to play in. She tears up most beds unless it's very comfortable. We are possibly moving and have 2 other dogs as well. We don't have room for all 3 unfortunately. We love them all and want them all and have never done this before. We are conflicted about this, we feel it may be the best way for her happiness and are sad. But can answer any questions you have.

Story
Titan is a well trained, lovable dog who is very affectionate towards all adults. He loves being pet and will lean into you to get close. He walks very well on a leash(trained to stay on your left side; no zig zagging and tripping) and has great house manners. He is crate trained and enjoys being in his crate. Although he is a German Shepherd, he is not rambunctious and is on the lower, more relaxed end of the energy scale. He knows all commands: sit, stay, down, come, crate. He has also been trained to go to his crate when the doorbell rings and wait to be released to go out the back door. He can do tricks such as crawling and spinning in circles. He is reactive to other dogs and cats and gets anxious around young children. We have a newly mobile toddler which is why we are looking for a new home for Titan. Titan has a persistent dry nose, is neutered, up to date on vaccines and no known medical conditions. He is approximately 4.5 years old.

Story
I'm Clark, a 4 year old and a great traveler. I like to be in the car and have good manners when I'm in the vehicle. I can be aloof at first, but 3 things that I really like are treats, pets, and playing chase with my friends. I also know sit and shake in exchange for treats. I'm friendly with polite dogs. Highly energetic dogs can be overwhelming for me. Interested in adopting? Visit our shelter during open hours and ask about Clark A055542.November 6, 2024, 7:27 pm

Story
Hello, my name is Ambrose and I'm a 5 year old german shepherd. I can be a little aloof at first with people that I am unfamiliar with, but don't let that deter you. I'm a really chill older dog who could use some love and care. I get along well with other dogs, in fact you may have seen Alfred who I came into the shelter with. Interested in adopting? Story
Suzie Q is a 2 year old female German Shepard mix. She is a sweetheart and loves people. She tolerates other dogs but would love to be in a home where she is the center of attention. She has had limited exposure to cats and was inclined to chase. Suzie just completed two weeks of professional trading at Goin to the Dogs and did wonderfully. She now walks on and off a leash, knows basic obedience commands and listens beautifully! All that is left is for her to find her forever home!January 5, 2025, 10:32 pm

Adoption Event Schedule Events run from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM every month at these locations: 2nd Saturday, Sacramento - Pet Food Express 3rd Saturday, Modesto - PetSmart 4th Saturday, Roseville - Pet Food Express Please visit the GCGSR Rescue Page for specific address information. Adoption Fee:  $0.00 (Fospice) Nolan is a 2 year old Tripod who came to us last December.  We are looking for a permanent 'fospice' home for him, which means he remains a GCGSR dog and we pay his expenses.  Nolan loves to play with other dogs, but in March he began limping badly on his front left leg.  X-rays show that he has bi-lateral elbow dysplasia.  That leg has swollen to double it's size and has now atrophied where it is now stiff.  When it's really bothering him, he'll hobble on two legs.  You can see in the video, that that leg is very stiff and used more like a crutch. Nolan does best with another dog in the home, as he becomes very insecure without one.  He pesters the other dogs to play and doesn't know when to stop, which causes that leg to swell.   If the other dog doesn't play a lot and respectfully let's him know, he may stay calmer. Nolan is housebroken and does well inside.  He's affectionate and a nice boy.  He doesn't require long walks.  If you are interested in doing a fospice for Nolan, please submit our Adoption Questionnaire form specifying your interest in him as a fospice dog. Cats and small critters unknown. Level 2 Understanding Dog Levels Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our home page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels. (https://www.gcgsr.org/adopt_info.html) We operate within a reasonable driving distance from the Greater Sacramento area, the Central Valley down to Merced, and Lake Tahoe. A reasonable driving distance is determined by where one of our volunteers is willing to drive within our areas of service. That means we don't adopt out of our area, to Southern California, or out of state. Puppy Requirements We have special Requirements for Adopting a Puppy and a separate Puppy Questionnaire that must be completed on puppies. Adoption Fee:  $300.00 Aine pronounced On-Ya is a very sweet smaller to medium sized German Shepherd and weighs about 52 pounds. She is very friendly and enjoys meeting people and other dogs.  Aine enjoys playing with her foster siblings. She loves the water and playing in it, so hikes where water or swimming is involved is definitely in.  She is crate trained and sleeps quietly in her crate all night. She walks well on a leash and enjoys sticking her nose out the window on car rides. Aine lives with 4 other dogs and gets along well with them. She will chase cats so would do best in home without them. She had a long run at a shelter so she can struggle a bit with separation anxiety. Aine will need a patient person or family that will work with her to help her to get past that and will need to be in a home with another dog to keep her company when her people are away. Once she settles in her fun playful side emerges. Aine is a loving sweet girl and will be a great addition for someone looking for a playful loving friend.  Cats and small critters unknown. Story
My Adoption Fee is Waived!Meet Nala, well-behaved pup who is ready to find her forever-family. She is prematurely gray but our vet thinks she has the teeth of a 2-3 year old. As her foster parents, we can definitely say that this girl is in the prime of life: she loves being out and about and having fun, especially playing with toys in the yard. Her #1 favorite is the herding ball, which can keep her amused for hours, but she`ll go for a game of fetch any day. She is super smart and a quick learner. Her current routine involves 2 daily walks and playtime. Aside from that, she`s content to laze around in the house or on the patio. She sometimes plays with our other dog so we think she could do well in a house with other pups; however, we think she`d do just fine on her own as well. She hasn`t shown signs of separation anxiety, and we`ve felt comfortable leaving her alone at home for several hours. She is fully housebroken. Her one challenge is that she is leash-reactive when she sees another dog. We are working on `heel` to draw her focus on walks; she’s already making progress and we’re confident she will overcome it. However, this will likely be a long process and she needs an adopter willing to work on it. Aside from this, she is a dream on walks.Come see more photos and videos here:If you`d like to ask more questions or schedule a meet-and-greet, please contact us at bluehousefosterdog@gmail.com.
