Story
Meet HK and Mac! A dynamic duo hailing from Kingston, Oklahoma, inseparable buddies seeking their forever home together. Playful and affectionate, these two are a bundle of joy waiting to bring endless happiness to the right family! HK, a striking German Shepherd at 2 years old, and Mac, a charming Terrier/Pit mix at 3, form an unbreakable bond. With their large size and boundless energy, they thrive in environments where they can roam freely and play to their heart's content! Their favorite pastimes include frolicking together, gnawing on bones, and gleefully squeaking their toys. Both are quick learners, responding to commands like "No," "Sit," and "Stay" with enthusiasm and readiness for playtime. While they adore each other's company, their shared desire for exploration means they require a securely fenced yard to prevent any escape attempts. Mac's history suggests a propensity for chasing cats, an issue that potential adopters should be mindful of, a feline-free household would be a must for this pair. In terms of health, Mac is already fixed with up-to-date shots, while HK awaits his turn for neutering, a cost the current caregiver is willing to cover. However, due to their lively nature, ongoing monitoring and training may be necessary, particularly to manage HK's eagerness to engage in play. What truly sets HK and Mac apart is their boundless affection and keen awareness of their surroundings. They relish belly rubs and are ever-vigilant, demonstrating a protective streak that enhances their appeal as loyal companions! For their future family, continuity is key; they must remain together to ensure their continued happiness and well-being. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this delightful duo, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com for more information on bringing HK and Mac into your life!

Story
Meet Lucie, affectionately known as LuLu! A spirited 10-month-old German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever/Hound mix from New Braunfels, TX, whose essence is a vibrant burst of joy wrapped in a luxuriously tan coat. This playful and high-energy pup is ready to bring endless fun and companionship to her new loving home! LuLu is a bundle of energy who adores fetching a ball, going on walks, playing with squeaky toys, and enjoying bone treats. Her intelligence shines through with her mastery of commands like "sit," "shake," and "get the ball." Although she hasn't had formal obedience training, her enthusiasm and willingness to learn make her a fantastic candidate for training classes! One of LuLu's most endearing quirks is her tendency to sit on your lap, despite her large size. She loves mimicking the family's maltipoo, adding an extra layer of charm to her already delightful personality. LuLu is known for her friendly demeanor, getting along wonderfully with other dogs and even showing a special affection for cats, playing nicely with them and enjoying their company. When left alone for short periods, LuLu might whine at the gate but soon settles down in the backyard, showing her adaptability and resilience. However, she does have a particular dislike for water, so bath time might require a bit of patience and gentle encouragement. LuLu thrives on a routine that includes feeding in the morning, at noon, and before dusk, with evening walks being a highlight of her day. Her vaccinations are up to date, and she is spayed and microchipped, ensuring she is healthy and ready for her new adventure! This playful and stubborn pup requires a fenced yard where she can safely expend her boundless energy. Given her chewing stage and tendency to jump up for hugs, LuLu's new family should be experienced dog guardians who are patient and willing to guide her through this phase with positive reinforcement. Are you ready to welcome LuLu into your home and heart? Her playful antics, lap-sitting sessions, and affectionate hugs are sure to bring joy and laughter to your life! Could you be the patient, loving family that LuLu needs? Contact us at adopt@joyfulpets.com to find out!

Story
Meet Lester! Lester is a special needs adoption, and not just because he’s a dog in a “cat & kitten” rescue group. At 65 pounds, this shepherd mix is loyal, protective, smart, playful and affectionate. He also has a severe hip displasia making it vital that he stay slim and low-key. Surgery may be in his future, but at the moment he’s doing well on medications. He lives with cats and another big dog, but kids under 12 would probably not be good. Not because of any negatives - but he could hurt himself romping and rough-housing. Even running can be a strain. He is house-trained as well as crate-trained, and because no one is perfect, we will disclose his one bad habit - he likes to get into the trash. So prospective houses need to have a closed lid trashcan or one that’s hidden. Estimated DOB 12/1/19 We are waiving his adoption fee because of his special needs, and just ask for a donation. ************************************** Our adoption fees are $125 for one, $200 for 2, and cover the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots, microchip, combo test, deworming, and collar and ID tag. We require our adopters are 21 years old or older, keep the cat inside only (unless on a leash/harness or in a catio), and do not declaw.

Story
Hi, I’m Licorice Since you are reading this, you’re obviously looking for a new best friend - hey, so am I!  It doesn’t matter how old you are or what you look like, but in case these things matter to you, I’m a 14-month-old male mixed breed and I weigh approximately 50 lbs. I have a gorgeous black shiny coat with the most stunning white star on my chest.  Hey, that’s me in the picture. Ain't I handsome? I was born in East Texas and came from a litter of seven puppies.  My sisters and I were abandoned last June on the side of the road in a cardboard box.  We were very hot and thirsty, and our tummies were grumbling.  Luckily, a Good Samaritin saved us and called Cody's Friends Rescue.  We were even more lucky when Cody's found a foster family that would take all seven of us.  All of my sisters have been adopted or moved to new foster homes, but I am still waiting for my forever family.  In my foster home is my foster mommy and daddy, and my favorite human buddy.  There is also Blue, a 13-year old Minature Schnauzer, Conway a 2.5 year old pitt bull/lab mix, and my best friend Mia who's the same age as me! Want to know my favorite color?  It’s green of course - check out my collar. I love playing with squeaky toys, balls, and tug-o-war with rope toys.  I am a big chewer and need chew toys to keep me busy.  My most favorite chew toys are yak sticks and chew hooves. I am crate trained and will need a crate if you adopt me.  Whenever you leave home, it’s a good idea to put me in my crate, so I’m not tempted to chew something I shouldn’t. I am very energetic and active, but when I’m pooped out, I love to chill out on the sofa while getting belly rubs. I really try to restrain myself, but I can’t help digging in my foster dad’s veggie garden and compost bin.  He sure isn’t happy about that, but digging is so much fun! Meeting new dogs and going to the dog park is overwhelming for me, so I would do much better as an only dog or with only one selective buddy. I am especially good at math and know exactly how many treats are in your pocket at all times. I hope you like kisses, because I am very affectionate and love giving doggy kisses. I am kid-friendly, house trained, crate trained, fully vetted, microchipped, neutered, and let's not forget extremely handsome!  What more could ya want? So . . .  what do you say?  You wanna be my bestie FOREVER? ##1775629##
