Story
Meet Blue – the definition of a gentle giant.Blue is a 3-year-old, 85-pound Great Pyrenees mix with long legs, a soft heart, and the most laid-back personality. This sweet boy was lovingly surrendered when his family could no longer care for him, and now he’s ready to find a forever home to call his own.Blue is house trained, well-behaved indoors, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and kids. He’s incredibly chill and gentle, making him an ideal companion for a calm and loving household. He is a strong boy, though, and could use a bit of leash work to help him walk more politely. If you’re looking for a loyal, easygoing friend who gives big love in a big package—Blue is your guy.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Meet Dobber: The Gigantic, Goofy, Nap-Loving, Life-Enjoying Fluff Machine! Dobber is a two-year-old, 100% certified Big Dumb Boy™, and we say that with all the love in the world. He is a Great Pyrenees, which means he has two modes: majestic guardian of the realm and giant, overgrown teddy bear who forgets how large he actually is. There is no in-between. Dobber approaches life with the enthusiasm of a golden retriever in a Pyr’s body. He’s just so happy to be here. Everything is exciting—playing, eating, lounging, existing. He loves to relax, but not in a normal, polite way. No, Dobber flops. He will dramatically throw himself onto the ground, sigh like he just finished a 12-hour work shift (even though he’s done absolutely nothing), and settle in for a well-deserved nap. If you need a dog who can truly commit to the art of doing nothing, this is your guy. But don’t be fooled! Dobber also loves to play—sometimes. When he’s feeling particularly athletic, he might prance around with his toys, wrestle with dog friends, or suddenly decide he’s the fastest creature alive and zoom across the yard (for about 10 seconds before flopping again). His hobbies also include staring at you lovingly, attempting to be a lap dog despite being the size of a small horse, and pretending he has no idea what the word “no” means when he’s in the mood for snacks. Now, Dobber does have epilepsy, but don’t worry—his seizures are completely controlled with medication. He takes his meds like a champ (especially if you hide them in cheese, because let’s be real, that’s the only proper way to take medicine). He doesn’t let it slow him down, and honestly, he probably doesn’t even remember that he has it. He’s too busy living his best life. Dobber is looking for a home that appreciates big dogs with even bigger personalities. He’d love a family that enjoys both playtime and serious snuggle sessions. Whether you need a giant goofball, a professional nap partner, or just a massive cloud of love and fur in your life, Dobber is ready to move in and take over your couch. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Story
Welcome Athena to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 2-year Great Pyrenees. She weighs about 90 pounds. She has a beautiful coat and the typical extra back toes commonly found in this breed. This is a guardian breed dog. They naturally will protect their flock or family. This breed will do best in a fully fenced yard as they will roam away if there is no fence. She is good with other dogs and will need some more leash work. She would be great with someone that knows the breed and loves it. She should have the natural tendencies of this breed. She had puppies and we adopted them out. We also adopted out the larger male that was found with her as a stray. She would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She is up on her vaccines, healthy, spayed and ready for her forever home. She is currently in Texas anc can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpal.info/ See her cute video!!

Story
Meet Kit, a Great Pyrenees/Doberman mix born approx 9/29/22. She has made such strides in the last year. She is great outside & is almost always the first one to come in when called. She now has a perfect routine but will still need time to find a new routine, as she is very routine based. She knows where her kennel is and takes 3 laps around before going in to eat but prefers the couch or your bed for sleeping. She recently attended an adoption event & was very curious about all the people & especially children. Her nose is her guide & she will come up behind you on the couch and sniff your hair or neck. She has never snapped at people & is really friendly, just in her own slow way. This is a huge milestone because she was so skittish when arriving into rescue that she would run away anytime she was approached or called to come in. She loves getting pets & has been enjoying belly rubs. Kit loves other dogs but tends to be very dominant and a little snappy when meeting new dogs for the first time. She would be fine with a dog that is less dominant or with a patient alpha, who will gently show her who’s in charge. She would also be fine as an only dog. She absolutely loves puppies & is very gentle, so the perfect scenario may be that she is the first dog & another is added at some point. She cannot be around small animals, such as birds, cats, or chickens, as her prey drive is HIGH. She definitely needs a fenced yard because her absolute favorite thing to do is run! She is not a fence jumper, so any fence that is 4 feet or higher is great for her.  Her recall is improving & when she barks, she does respond to a firm, “leave it” or “no bark”. She does bark at neighbors or dogs next door, but she can be redirected. She will frolic & play for as long as she can. She loves long walks, soft toys & sleeping on the couch or in bed. She doesn’t need to be kenneled although when she is in new places, she may chew on things she is not supposed to, such as socks, pillows, and cushions. She has not done this in a very long time but it is a nervous response for her. She would love a home where she could have more one on one attention.  Due to her cautious nature, older, respectful kids would be best. She will take time and patience to adjust to a new environment but when she does the little things will reward you tenfold. She's been in rescue long enough and would love a home of her own!       Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 20, 2025, 6:50 pm

Has anyone NOT heard The Eagles song... "The Boys Are Back in Town"?? Cause we ARE the boys and we ARE back in town!!! This time we are in TOWN for ADOPTION!!! Oso and Grizz are a match made in heaven- however they do not have to be adopted together. They are brothers and obviously the SWEETEST boys on the PLANET.... :) These boys are reserved in the kennel / easy to leash and handle / need encouragement to walk on the leash sometimes / and are SO friendly and happy. Oso and Grizz are very submissive and will routinely flop onto their backs to show you their belly and solicit pets. They are large, young, floppy, and happy dogs - just wanting a yard to run around in and some sun to lay out it. And a SAFE place to call home! friends to play with!! Food and water available and LOVE LOVE LOVE! You will fall over when you meet one or both of them, they are special boys who deserve special home/s!! AdOPT DON'T SHOP!!!! Story
Cash is a big, gentle, 4 year old, 84# Pyrenees mix softie with big, brown soulful eyes. He loves being with people and desperately wants to be part of a family. He wants to be close but is not super needy. He is a loyal protector who is alert to anything outside “his” home that might disturb “his” family. That could be anything from dogs barking down the street to trucks pulling up. He has a deep loud bark that might be a problem in an apartment or a place with shared walls. Cash was a stray from an over crowded southern shelter but with his long fur coat he is wonderful for Minnesota’s winters. He enjoys being outdoors, and a fenced yard is required so that he can do his due diligence & keep his yard safe. Cash walks well on leash without much pulling and is easily redirected if he does tug. He really loves his walks. He knows some commands like sit, shake, lay down, and will follow the command of “wait / stay” before getting his food. He seems to understand “come” but his independent nature leads him to sometimes think about whether he wants to obey or not. Cash is not a high energy dog; he loves to cuddle and to be around people; he is housetrained & will let you know when he needs to go out & potty. He likes to graze his food so it’s best to feed him 3 or 4 smaller meals daily if possible. He can be a counter-surfer due to his size. He is kennel/crate-trained but likes a treat incentive to go in. He sleeps in his kennel at night but likely would love to sleep with his people. He seems to like everyone and has been good with all the dogs he has met; the shelter he was in used him as a “dog test” dog to determine if other dogs were dog friendly or not. He has been to a dog park and was sociable with the dogs there but was not interested in playing with them. His only fault, probably because he was a stray and often went without food, is that he will tend to guard his food around other dogs (not with people). He does best with a slow-feeder bowl. So he would do best as an only dog in the home. Because of this behavior, he might not be a match with cats. His curious nature and desire to please his people will make him a wonderful companion to the right family. Cash has been in boarding for a couple weeks. He is such a wonderful dog that he deserves to find a family, and is neutered and vaccinated. While fostering, Second Chance can provide food and supplies (if needed) and cover medical costs. An adopter would have the first opportunity to adopt Cash. If you have questions, or can offer to foster, call 651-771-5662. PS - I met Cash at the boarding facility - if I didn't already have 3 dogs and a cat, he would have come home with me !!

Story
This handsome boy was picked up running at large and based on Facebook posts it was about his third or fourth offense, but no one claimed him. We are guessing that he was a failure at being a livestock guardian because he’s way too social. He’s always wanting to visit someone new. Charlie is a little over a year old anyways 95 pounds. He was very thin when we first got him, but he’s looking great now. He is neutered, up-to-date on required vaccines, microchipped and heartworm tested negative. He’s house trained and he loves other dogs, but he is a big guy. He also will require a tall fence and you will have to keep an eye on him because again he likes to visit new people. He’s affectionate and likes to lean on you. This guy would be a great dog for an active loving family. He’s so sweet! If you would like to be Charlie’s forever family please email dogs4mylife@ gmail.com or olmc7@ hotmail.com. If you are inquiring from a Gmail address. It is best to use our Gmail address or you might have to look for us in your spam.
