HACHI Available for Adoption FAST FACTSMale, Husky Mix, 55 lbs, 2 years oldEnergetic, Smart and PlayfulMedium energyPeople FriendlyPotty Trained Are you an active person/couple/family looking for a pooch who can keep up with you? A 4-legged buddy who will walk/hike/jog by your side for miles and still have energy to spare? Well look no further because you’ve found him—me, Hachi,, the Energizer Bunny disguised as a handsome white dog. My background is pretty sketchy. I was wandering the streets on the south side of Chicago when the police picked me up and and brought me to Chicago Animal Care and Control. That’s where one of the CARE staff found me, looking cool, calm, and collected in my kennel, and decided to bring me to the Skokie shelter. I’ve clearly experienced some mistreatment in my past that has made me cautious meeting new people But once I know you’re my friend, I relax and warm up. The staff member who’s been working with me daily predicts that after I settle into my forever home, I’ll be the most loyal, devoted, and fun canine you’ll ever know. As I’ve said, my energy is endless, so my potential adopter(s) must commit to giving me lots of exercise each and every day, rain or shine. In addition to walking/hiking/jogging (I have good leash manners, by the way), I also adore being free for extended playtime in the backyard. I’m aball fanatic, particularly tennis balls (I like to surround myself with about 20), and can entertain myself for hours, tossing and retrieving them. But this game would be even more fun if you threw (or hit) the balls for me to chase and return. And maybe we could add a frisbee into the mix. Who knows, I might have the makings of a flying disc champion! Just in case you’re wondering, I definitely have an off-switch, and I chill out indoors. Just give me a ball of some type and allow me to watch what’s going on—I really don’t like being cut off from the action. As for the basics, I’m potty trained but hate being crated. I’m getting help withthat, but it may be that crates trigger a bad memory I just can’t get past. Finally, for now, I must be the only animal in the house, and no small children (older kids would be fine). Everyone at the shelter has been so wonderful to me, but I dream of having a kind, loving, and active forever home. I hope my bio makes you want to get to know me better, and that you’ll fill out an adoption application ASAP. Until we meet…. I have been microchipped and neutered and have had a full veterinary checkup and vaccines. My adoption fee is $325. For more information or if you would like to meet me, please fill out an adoption survey at carenorthshore.org/dog-adoption-survey Love and Licks Hachi  August 18, 2024, 9:00 pm

Story
Dante is an eleven-month-old, 48-pound, friendly, energetic and playful, red and white male Siberian Husky pup with heterochromatic (one blue, one brown) eyes looking for a loving guardian. Dante is wonderfully playful with other friendly dogs. He is also great with people of all ages. He’s lived with children as young as six in his previous home. He does jump up on people in an overly friendly manner, so he will benefit from additional training. He is housebroken, crate-trained, and sits on command – anything for a treat! Dante has a strong prey drive and will hunt for bunnies, squirrels and birds on his walks. He has a lot of energy, so he’d make an excellent walking/running/hiking buddy. Huskies are known escape artists, so walks on leash, or playing in a securely fenced in yard is a must. He is extremely healthy, neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, bordetella and leptospirosis, microchipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. His adoption fee of $325 benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue. To meet and possibly adopt Dante, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up to meet him by e-mailing friendsofpetraits@gmail.com He is being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.

Story
This is Edward, (yes there is a Bella and Jacob). Edward is a 5 to 6 month old male husky/pomeranian mix. I am an 18 lbs and a total sweet heart. He unfortunately had a rough start as he was rescued from a mass production mill. Thankfully a wonderful rescue saved Edward and his siblings and transferred them to CRA where they had wonderful foster homes waiting. He is now accepting applications to look for a home to call his own. Things to know about Edward: He would love a fence to run freely as he enjoys the outside so much! Prior to his rescue he lacked the attention that he deserved. With that being said he bonds hard and enjoys the people who make him feel safe in the best way. He is currently working on crate training and has already made great strides. He is catching on to potty training so easily with a routine. Currently he is not having any accidents indoors, in his crate, or overnight. He is puppy who needs stimulation. This includes walks, mental stimulation and anything else to help ensure that he naps hard (which he loves). As any other puppy, adoptive homes should be patient, loving, and be ready for the work that goes into building a strong training foundation with their pup. Edward is accepting applications within 3 hours of Chicago. His adoption fee includes up to date vaccines, up to date preventatives, microchip, deworming and neuter. If you are interested in being considered a forever home for Edward please apply directly here! If you have any questions before applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org If you are viewing from adopt-a-pet to be considered a potential home for this dog please head to our website www.chicagorescueauthority.org and click on our adopt tab to apply directly!

Story
Meet Petey, a delightful 2-year-old Kelpie x Husky. Unfortunately, circumstances beyond his control led him to our rescue, but his spirit remains unbroken. Initially reserved due to the abrupt changes in his life, Petey is searching for a patient and understanding family to help him navigate the transition. Despite his initial shyness, he reveals his playful side during walks and frolics in the rescue yard, demonstrating a love for an active lifestyle. With time, patience, and the embrace of a loving family, we believe Petey will blossom into the devoted and joyful family companion he was born to be.

Story
**LARRY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!** Meet Larry, a charming and cheerful little pup searching for a forever family. This adorable fella was born in the care of Pal's Place and has only known love and kindness since birth. Penny, Larry's mother (also available for adoption), was rescued from an over-capacity animal control facility in rural Kentucky. We did not know she was pregnant at the time of her rescue, but she surprised us with three precious and perfect little stowaways shortly after she arrived in Chicago! We sure are glad we rescued Penny when we did, an overcrowded, chaotic, stressful pound is no place for a mom with new puppies and we are so happy our sweet mama was able to raise her pups in the comfort of a safe, loving and nurturing foster home. Larry's mother is a delightful, gentle, and loving 40-pound mixed breed, possibly with Husky and Chow in her family tree. The father of the puppies is unknown but Larry and his littermates appear to have some Shepherd and Great Pyrenees in their lineage. They are most likely a mix of several breeds, combining to create three exceptionally adorable pups. Larry and his littermates are 3 months old (7/11) and weigh 17-19 pounds. Given their current age and weights, we expect them to mature into very large dogs, with an estimated fully mature size of 90-110 pounds. Larry and his brothers will make outstanding companions for active families with the time, energy, and patience to raise a young puppy. They get along well with other dogs and are working on their crate training and housebreaking in their foster home. Remember that puppies this age and size need potty breaks every 2-3 hours, with lots and lots of playtime, socialization, and mental and physical stimulation throughout the day. Please consider if you truly have time for a puppy before applying. Larry and his littermates are neutered, current with age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and started on flea and heartworm prevention. They are ready and anxious to meet their new families! The adoption fee to the rescue is $475 • For more information or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within three days of applying. • Larry's adoption fee is $475. This fee helps to cover any necessary medical care to prepare him for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like Larry and his family from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application and put the dog's name in the subject line. Please check your spam/junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up there! • All of our dogs are in foster homes and can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an approved application has been received. To receive more info, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com. Email is the preferred method of contact and is the quickest way to receive a response. Unfortunately, we cannot hold our adoptable dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an application until you are prepared to adopt.
