Story
LEO, here! I am an absolutely handsome Siberian Husky weighing in at just under 85 pounds. I definitely ate my Wheaties when I was growing up. Surprisingly enough, my appetite isn`t NEARLY as big as my fluffy tail. I love going outside and playing with my fur friends here at the shelter, and I have learned to walk very well on leash since I got here. I do howl when I get lonely, so a home where I won`t be alone very much would be the best place for me. It is truly imperative you understand my breed and everything it takes to give me good exercise, and good hygiene and food health which includes routine brushing to keep my coat nice and smooth.Huskies can be some of the best companions, so let`s try out a visit and see if we are a good fit together! If you have any other canine friends in your home, we will need to meet before I can join your family. Unfortunately, cats are a no-go for me and the rest of my breed. I do have a high prey drive, naturally, so I will be very interested in squirrels, rabbits and other small rodents and birds. Come see me and my friends today! If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $100

Story
This beautiful girl is named Starling. She is an extremely small husky mix about the age of 5 years. She is about half the size of what a typical husky ends up being as an adult so there`s no telling what she may be mixed with, but she is absolutely beautiful and has the most stunning ice-blue eyes.Whatever happened to this poor girl, she came to our shelter extremely, extremely scared and gets nervous when people lean or reach over her. You will have to be very patient and go extremely slow with this sweet pup until she gains your trust. Once she DOES trust you, she even starts to roll on her back so you can scratch her belly and gives the sweetest nose kisses. In order to adopt Starling, you MUST have knowledge and experience with the husky breed. It is apparent someone just wanted her for her looks and bred her for puppies not just once but possibly twice or more. You will need a fenced in yard, but a tie-out system with silicone lead is also suggested. During this time we are actively seeking rescue placement for Starling, unless the right adopter with proper living arrangements is found. If you would like to see Starling, you are more than welcome to visit us at Animal Control. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $100

Story
We adopted Angel in 2021 for the most part. She is a perfect dog, but with a husky breed, we knew what we were adopting. But with our family's busy lifestyle, giving her the attention, energy, and exercise she deserves has become burdensome. I just acquired a job that takes me downtown, away from family a few times, and with babies, it is tough to take care of Angel as well. She needs a family willing to give her the time and energy that Husky needs. She had Separation anxiety does not like being in the crate for long periods of time and is very clingy, but overall she is a very good dog and will make a very good companion for somebody.

Story
Pizzaz is absolutely beautiful with his light brindle coloring! He is estimated to be about 11 months old and weighs 40 pounds. Pizzaz is a very attentive pup who loves to just lean into you for love. He is crazy smart and absolutely loves food puzzles and doing anything that requires mind work. With only working with him a short time, he learned sit, touch, down and shake. You can tell he is a thinker, wanting to learn and please you. Pizzaz craves closeness too, he likes to sneak up in your lap any chance he gets, and he takes his treats very gently. We have also noticed he likes to lay in the sun coming through the window, oh how relaxing! Pizzaz does have some observed food bowl guarding though, but he is catching on quickly to “wait at bowl”. His adopter will need to continue to work on this with him. He needs an experienced adopter who knows how to instill leadership and understands the mental needs of the working breeds. Pizzaz would fit perfectly in a home that has lots of love to give and where any children are at least 13 years old. If you think you could give Pizzaz the home he deserves, he would love to meet you and have a forever family. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Pizzaz would love to meet them. He has a tall, confident approach with other dog with nice play bows. He really needs to go to a home where there is another dog, he just seems more content with a playmate. If you are interested in Pizzaz and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
