Story
Meet Ruger! HOUSE-TRAINED AND GOOD WITH DOGS, CATS, & KIDS! This 62-pound, four-year-old lab/husky mix is as good as it gets! He's the definition of charming and will bring years of joy to the lucky people that make him part of the family! Before coming to GLDR, Rugar spent time in a foster home and they absolutely adored him! Although they didn't want to let him go, they knew he'd have a better chance of being adopted with GLDR and wanted the best for him. Not only is Rugar a kind-hearted, affectionate fella with his people, he's also fantastic with both dogs & cats! He spent time around young children and did great with them as well. As if that weren't impressive enough, Rugar is also house-trained. When his foster family left the house, they left Rugar out in his bedroom and he behaved perfectly. Ruger does have a prey drive, so a fenced-in yard for him to enjoy in his new home is a must for this deserving pup. Rugar knows some commands and will sit nicely for all sorts of tasty treats. A fan of squeaky and rope toys, he is content keeping himself occupied and is a joy to hang with. He responds well to correction and would benefit from continued training to help form a lifelong bond. We can't think of a better way to spend our time than getting to know Ruger! Recently, some of our volunteers took Ruger on an outing on the Paint Creek Trail and boy was he happy to get a break from the kennel! He does excellent in the car and was great on leash while on his walk. Ruger is a social guy who would love to accompany you on all of your adventures. He's also a fan of water as you can see by his pictures! Based on our evaluation, we feel Rugar could do well in a home with adults or families with kids of all ages. He may have the ability to live in a home with other animals as he has done very well with them in the past. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby! If you this Rugar is the pup of your dreams, please head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and fill out an application for this delightful dude!

Story
Meet Nash! He was saved from a high-kill shelter in California and has been being fostered here in Michigan. He is 16 months old and a petite husky mix at only 42 lbs! He is neutered and UTD on vaccinations. We’ve been working on his potty training/crate training and he’s finally ready to go to his furever home! He is incredibly affectionate and sweet with humans as well as being good with other dogs. Cats are unknown but I can test him with them if necessary! Please message me if you’re interested in giving this handsome guy his second chance!

Story
Chloe is a husky mix that we have had since she was a puppy. She’s an outgoing and energetic dog, who is great with our teenager, toddler, and baby. Unfortunately with our third addition she’s not getting the attention she needs and is acting up because of it. I am no longer able to take her for regular walks, and over the summer she has gotten off leash or out the front door 3 times. We live off a main road and this is a dangerous situation for her. She also does not get along with our neighbors dog, which has caused some issues. She has gotten along with other dogs in the past, so a gentle introduction would be needed if she is not the only dog. Crate, food, toys, leash, and all other supplies included with adoption if desired.
