Story
Koa is a smart and friendly girl, about 2 years old, weighing 50lbs. This beautiful girl has one blue eye, one brown eye, and the softest fur! Koa was found running up and down a busy road frantically. Sadly, it is believed that she had been dumped by her previous owners. This intelligent girl is eager to please and already knows all her basic commands, and is house trained. Koa is friendly with people, kids, and dogs (with slow and proper introductions). She is a high energy girl who loves to play fetch with her ball, hike, and play tug of war. She LOVES going for walks and has good leash manners. Koa also enjoys going for car rides - she is always down for a fun adventure! This happy girl would love a forever home with a fenced yard (6' fence), and a family that will commit to providing her the daily exercise/stimulation that she needs. She would enjoy going to doggy daycare or having family members who work from home, and another playful dog that she can spend time with. Koa is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped.  If you would like to adopt this sweet girl, please submit an application for her at EHRdogs.org August 19, 2024, 11:05 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rocco was adopted as a puppy and returned to the shelter 14 years later as a senior dog. An overcrowded inner city shelter is no place for a senior. They are more susceptible to infection and he quickly developed kennel cough which led to pneumonia. He has been two months with us and has made an amazing recovery.  Our veterinarian says he is in great shape for a 14 year old. His cough is gone and his lungs are clear. if you have ever thought of adopting a senior he is your guy. He enjoys a walk and loves the car. He has had X-rays and blood work and all came out great.   He does take thyroid medication once a day and it is very reasonable. We are looking for a forever foster or adopter for Rocco. We would like to see him as an only dog so that he can get all the attention but he can be with calmer dogs. He has a bit of arthritis and is not interested in playing with more active dogs.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 18, 2024, 3:28 pm

Story
My name is Xena! I am a 12 month old Husky/Shepherd. Mix who weighs 58 pounds (ASCZ does not think I will get much bigger). I am an active girl who loves new adventures with my people! I'm great with every dog I have met and do amazing in large groups of dogs for play time. I love people! I love kids too, but I am big so I may accidentally knock over a little one unless they are dog savvy. I have met a few cats and to be quite honest, I don't have time to even pay attention to them. It's ok if you like them and they live with you - I just won't bother them at all. My foster mom said she knows I can easily jump her small fence which is only about 4 feet, but I am perfectly happy to lounge in the yard and not run away. A taller fence (if you have one) would be ideal but she also said I have great recall and I know my name very well. She tells everyone that I am super smart and very eager to please everyone! She also says my eyes are mesmerizing and I am the sweetest dog ever. I love to swim too, she has a pond that I just can't stay out of and as you can see, I am a great car rider! I'm looking for my family, if you are them - please fill out this application: https://asecondchanceforziva.org/adopt/adoption-application/

Story
My name is Lizzie. I am a stunning Husky/Boxer mix! I am 57 lbs and just about 2 years old. It's kind of hard to tell in the pictures but my eyes are blue speckled. I am a submissive dog. I don't prefer to challenge or cross anyone but I am active and once I get comfy, I am not shy! ASCZ thinks I would do great with another dog in the home. I can be a little shy with humans at first and I first take my cues from my canine friends. I am housebroken and I love horses! We are not sure on cats but our hunch is that I would be afraid of them. I can be relatively jumpy when I am excited to see my humans when they come home or if something else excites me so kids 10+. I have a great energy about me - I would be a fantastic hiking companion and perhaps even a jogger! Oh and I am a good car rider too! Story
Age: 2 Years Sex: Male Size: Medium Good With Dogs: Possible Good With Cats: No Good With Children: Yes Hoagie was a day away from having to be euthanized before coming into our foster program. Hoagie is a happy go easy husky. He has had a rough few months. Hoagie was surrendered to the shelter with a fracture in his left leg. He was limping, but not in visible pain. The origins of the fracture are murky, as the owner didn’t realize there was an issue for a number of weeks. It is possible that it was a result of a gunshot wound when the owner had his home broken into and was himself shot. Whatever the origin of Hoagie’s injury, by the time he arrived at Sedona Shepherd, the bones were already in the healing process. The surgeon who physical examined Hoagie and his X-rays, determined that it would be best not to have surgery. Her recommendation was continued rest and medication for the next 3 to 4 weeks to allow the leg to continue to heal. Hoagie is now enjoying his time in one of our foster homes. After a day of explaining the rules (furniture is not for marking), Hoagie settled in nicely to his home and is respecting his boundaries. Hoagie is so excited to meet new people. We try to keep the enthusiasm down to a minimum so he doesn’t hurt his leg. Hoagie is friendly with young and old people alike. According to his shelter records, Hoagie did live with another dog. He appears to want to greet and possibly play with other dogs, but we have to hold off on the play until he is fully healed. If you like to have a fun dog, then Hoagie will be a perfect match. He is located in northern New Jersey and available for adoption. For more information on Hoagie please reach out to us at contact@sedonashepherd.com or fill out an online adoption application.   Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary's mission is to rescue adult and senior German Shepherd and Shepherd mixes and find them loving homes.  All of our dogs are fully vetted and up to date on all their shots Our adoption area includes New Jersey, Delaware Valley, Manhattan, Southern New York and Eastern Pennsylvania.  We may adopt to Connecticut depending on circumstances.  Please visit our website at www.sedonashepherd.com.
