Story
My name is Xena! I am a 12 month old Husky/Shepherd. Mix who weighs 58 pounds (ASCZ does not think I will get much bigger). I am an active girl who loves new adventures with my people! I'm great with every dog I have met and do amazing in large groups of dogs for play time. I love people! I love kids too, but I am big so I may accidentally knock over a little one unless they are dog savvy. I have met a few cats and to be quite honest, I don't have time to even pay attention to them. It's ok if you like them and they live with you - I just won't bother them at all. My foster mom said she knows I can easily jump her small fence which is only about 4 feet, but I am perfectly happy to lounge in the yard and not run away. A taller fence (if you have one) would be ideal but she also said I have great recall and I know my name very well. She tells everyone that I am super smart and very eager to please everyone! She also says my eyes are mesmerizing and I am the sweetest dog ever. I love to swim too, she has a pond that I just can't stay out of and as you can see, I am a great car rider! I'm looking for my family, if you are them - please fill out this application: https://asecondchanceforziva.org/adopt/adoption-application/

Story
My name is Lizzie. I am a stunning Husky/Boxer mix! I am 57 lbs and just about 2 years old. It's kind of hard to tell in the pictures but my eyes are blue speckled. I am a submissive dog. I don't prefer to challenge or cross anyone but I am active and once I get comfy, I am not shy! ASCZ thinks I would do great with another dog in the home. I can be a little shy with humans at first and I first take my cues from my canine friends. I am housebroken and I love horses! We are not sure on cats but our hunch is that I would be afraid of them. I can be relatively jumpy when I am excited to see my humans when they come home or if something else excites me so kids 10+. I have a great energy about me - I would be a fantastic hiking companion and perhaps even a jogger! Oh and I am a good car rider too! Story
Meet CHRISTIAN, a vibrant and enthusiastic Husky/Labrador Retriever mix searching for his forever home! Christian was rescued from an awful situation in Orangeburg, South Carolina where he was left outdoors chained as a young puppy. Unfortunately, as Christian grew, the chain around his neck did not which left him with an awfully embedded collar in his neck upon rescue. This needed to be surgically removed. With the proper TLC, Christian has made a full recovery! At 3 years old and 53 pounds, he's fully grown and ready to embark on a lifelong journey of love and happiness. Despite his rough start, Christian is a loving and cuddly dog. He'll lean into you for snuggles, cherishing every moment of your affection. He is the prime definition of "man's best friend". This young and energetic boy would love to have a fenced yard in his forever home in addition to regular exercise. Christian's love for toys knows no bounds! Squeaky toys and tennis balls are his favorite. When the play is over, Christian enjoys having a corner or similar space that he can call his own. He will relax in his little “den space” and go there when he needs some alone time to chill. He is house broken and doing well with crate training and leash walking. Christian would thrive in the home as the only dog, where he could be the king of his castle and spoiled to pieces! Due to his playful energy and large size, Christian would do best in a home without young children. He loves treats of apple slices, watermelon, cucumbers and ice chips. The husky in him loves to sing the song of his people and vocalize with the most adorable long howls! If you're looking for a playful and affectionate companion who will brighten up your home, Christian is the perfect match. Apply to adopt Christian at www.homeforgooddogs.org! Christian is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. All adoption applications must be completed on www.hfgdr.org** HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life! Story
Age: 2 Years Sex: Male Size: Medium Good With Dogs: Possible Good With Cats: No Good With Children: Yes Hoagie was a day away from having to be euthanized before coming into our foster program. Hoagie is a happy go easy husky. He has had a rough few months. Hoagie was surrendered to the shelter with a fracture in his left leg. He was limping, but not in visible pain. The origins of the fracture are murky, as the owner didn’t realize there was an issue for a number of weeks. It is possible that it was a result of a gunshot wound when the owner had his home broken into and was himself shot. Whatever the origin of Hoagie’s injury, by the time he arrived at Sedona Shepherd, the bones were already in the healing process. The surgeon who physical examined Hoagie and his X-rays, determined that it would be best not to have surgery. Her recommendation was continued rest and medication for the next 3 to 4 weeks to allow the leg to continue to heal. Hoagie is now enjoying his time in one of our foster homes. After a day of explaining the rules (furniture is not for marking), Hoagie settled in nicely to his home and is respecting his boundaries. Hoagie is so excited to meet new people. We try to keep the enthusiasm down to a minimum so he doesn’t hurt his leg. Hoagie is friendly with young and old people alike. According to his shelter records, Hoagie did live with another dog. He appears to want to greet and possibly play with other dogs, but we have to hold off on the play until he is fully healed. If you like to have a fun dog, then Hoagie will be a perfect match. He is located in northern New Jersey and available for adoption. For more information on Hoagie please reach out to us at contact@sedonashepherd.com or fill out an online adoption application.   Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary's mission is to rescue adult and senior German Shepherd and Shepherd mixes and find them loving homes.  All of our dogs are fully vetted and up to date on all their shots Our adoption area includes New Jersey, Delaware Valley, Manhattan, Southern New York and Eastern Pennsylvania.  We may adopt to Connecticut depending on circumstances.  Please visit our website at www.sedonashepherd.com.
