Story
Redd's former family surrendered him at the age of 14 years to the shelter, but he was lucky enough to come in the door and go right back out just an hour later to begin his search for a new home as a foster with COALDR. Even though he is said to be 14, never has there been a senior with as much spunky energy as Redd! Every morning this little bundle of joy bounds outdoors with a spring in his step and is excited to explore his yard and greet all of his doggy friends. Redd is house-trained but does use pads overnight. He has had a full medical work-up and was found to be in excellent health. He will be having a much needed dental cleaning on July 1st, and then he will be looking forward to hopping off to his new forever home. Redd loves everyone, so a home with older, respectful children would be fine. Because of his limited sight, very young kids would be an obstacle for him. Redd loves meal times and is happy to vocalize his frustration when he is made to wait. Besides that he is a very quiet dog who would do well in an apartment environment. He loves leisurely walks and enjoys being outside and roaming his yard. Redd is great with other dogs and loves all people he meets. If you would love to give this fun-loving little fellow a forever retirement home, please complete an application to adopt him! Redd weighs in at a slight 11 pounds, is a Poodle/Maltese mix, and is fostered in Smithfield, VA.

Story
Meet Marge! Marge is a dainty little lady looking for a family to treat her like a princess. She loves snuggling up with her people or chilling on her fluffy bed (which of course is shaped like a throne). Marge is sweet, affectionate, and would make anyone happy to call her family. She's about 5 years old and She was recently abandoned so we don't know how she does with dogs or cats. **if you're interested in Marge, please complete an adopter's profile at parl.org and come in during our open hours**

Story
Age:   approx 12 years old   Weight: 14  lbs My adoption fee is $ 100  which includes transportation charges to the Northeast.   Jasmine is senior maltese female who weighs about 14 lbs. We are guessing she is 10+ years old.  she has been spayed and had a dental cleaning and lost a lot of teeth on one side. She has impaired vision and hearing but is not  blind or deaf. She is a sweet dog who does fine in a multidog foster home with other dogs. She is very quiet unless she cannot get to  where she wants to go. So if crated may cry to get out. If outside may bark to get inside. I think she would love to be walked on leash. If you serious about adopting, the first step is to fill out an adoption application on our website:   https://www.smalldogrescuene.org/August 18, 2024, 9:47 pm

ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt. If you feel comfortable that the animal is a good fit for your home, at this point, you would submit a sum of $200 as a partial payment of the adoption fee as we process your application. From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit. If you are not approved to adopt, any payment sent to us would be promptly returned in full. At this point, we will remove the animal from our adoption sites and hold the animal for you while we check your references. If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Story
Adoption Donation   $ 499 Located:  RI (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details) Age: approx. 9 years old    Meet Oscar, a  9 yr old Maltipoo. Oscar and his brother, Teddy (fostered by another foster) are not bonded. They were originally purchased by a family for their two daughters. Once the daughters, grew up and left home, they no longer wanted the dogs and neither did the parents so they were moved to a new home. Since then, the husband (their new owner) is battling cancer and long story short, the dogs were living alone in a home except for 1/day feeding by a young girl dropping in.   Rescue can be so sad but we are going to look forward. Oscar is such an incredibly easy and sweet dog and has a great energy level.   He would love nice walks or a backyard to play in. He is a young 9 yr old dog. He is getting along so well with me 4 dogs and gave me no problem giving him a bath after I picked him up from transport yesterday. He slept in a bed next to our bed and was a perfect gentleman. He's eating well and house-training is going well, considering all the change he has had to endure as well as learning our routine.   Oscar is neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations and was given a one year injection of heart-worm prevention just last month. He could use to lose a little weight with the right diet and exercise.   He's an absolute sweetheart and would make any adopter very lucky to have him. He cries a little bit when we first leave the house but seems to find comfort in having other dogs around. I can see him living a wonderful life with someone who is retired or semi-retired or someone who is home a fair amount. He loves his people and already follows me everywhere He is the ultimate cuddle bug and lap dog.    If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  lisa.foha@yahoo.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in.
